Tupelo Press 30/30,Day 5
Nature just kind of handed me today's poem... Very thoughtful, I must say.

Tupelo Press 30/30, 4th of July Edition...
...Except that my poem is not very Independence Day-y, unless one reads it in a certain way! But the poems submitted by my fellow adventurers are particularly good today, I think!

I'm loving some of the other stuff that the other "30/30" poets for July are doing!

And We're Off (Tupelo Press 30/30 Project)
Well NOW I've gone and done it! :) Here are the first of the July Poems for the Tupelo Press 30/30 Project (mine included):

Now for the more uncomfortable part--if anyone would like to donate/sponsor me (or another poet), there is a button on the page that says, "Donate", and a drop-down list on the donation page where you can choose the name of the poet you'd like to sponsor. Then you can add your other information.
The other option is to get a subscription, which entitles you to receive nine Tupelo Press books for $99, and which would also be counted toward the sponsorship goal. I'm told that there's a "Comment" box that shows up when you subscribe; just mention there that you'd like the subscription to be credited to the sponsorship of the poet of your choice. Here's that link:

PLEASE don't feel obligated to sponsor me! I just hope that people enjoy some of the poems. Seriously.

Sponsors for Poetry Marathon?
Hi, everyone. OK, on the spur of the moment I answered a call from Tupelo Press for volunteers for its 30/30 fundraising project. I'd have to write a poem a day for the month of July (or possibly August). What I didn't realize when I responded (and I haven't definitely agreed yet) is that it's run like most marathons in which participants need to get sponsors. I'm pretty sure that I could do the 30 poems/30 days thing, but I've never done any real fundraising, and to be honest I'm not sure how many people I know whom I might ask to sponsor me.
So I'm just sending out feelers here--and PLEASE know that I would have ZERO hard feelings for those of you who don't respond. I mean that. But I wanted to find out if there are people here who might be interested in doing it (an alternative to sponsorship is to get the $99 subscription, which gives you nine of Tupelo Press's books for $99).
Here's the link for more information (some of you may also be interested in "volunteering"):

I really feel kind of stupid even asking, but I would like to get an idea of whether or not it would be possible for me to get $500 worth of sponsors before I agree to do it.
I'll probably post this in my blog, etc., as well, so apologies if you see it more than once.

My poem at Kentucky Review
I'm really excited that one of my Gospel poems (and really one of my favorites of my own work) just got published at Kentucky Review. I just learned about it a few minutes ago, so I haven't had a chance to read the other new poems in it, but, judging by the earlier ones, they'll be worth reading as well.
