Thanksgiving Survival
We made it through another holiday with no (new) family members getting banished. Everyone behaved and we even tried some new foods outside of the traditional fare. My grain-free pumpkin whoopie pies didn't survive the day... I had to throw them away (they would have been really yummy if not for a baking powder/soda mishap.) I'm going to try to make them again, but only after the pain of having to discard the big tray after all the work that went into making them subsides.
The Spicy and Sweet Potato Quinoa salad went over well, which made me very happy! My 16yo daughter is a vegetarian and gets sick when she eats grains and dairy, so feeding her can be a challenge. Until now she hasn't enjoyed quinoa. Now I'll have to keep a container of it at all times, because she loved it. Luckily it's very simple to make. :)
My favorite was the Pecan and White Chocolate topped sweet potatoes. I crave this for every holiday! Everyone makes fun of me, though, because I take my whole plate (mashed potatoes, turkey, cranberry sauce, and everything else) and mash it together. I think it tastes better that way.
What's your favorite Thanksgiving food? Did you try any new recipes? Feel free to share!
I wish you all a year full of abundance, gratitude, dreams-coming-true, and the love of family and friends.
xoxo,
~Amanda :)
PS- I ended the day (which we celebrate on Friday) by beginning Reached, by Ally Condie. Had to wait while my daughter read it. She gave it rave reviews- I can't wait to finish it!!! It's off to a wonderful start.

New to Goodreads
Hi everyone!
I've never been very good at keeping up with a blog, but Goodreads makes it so easy, maybe I'll be better this time!
I'm so excited to be a new author. This is a great time for writers, and I'm always excited to discover new ways to learn and grow.
I love hearing feedback from people who have read my book, a young adult/teen novel called Teen Fury: Unleashed. I'm still working on developing a readership for the book, while working on the sequel. Getting the word out is a lot of work!
Anyway, this blog post is less than brilliant and probably pointless, but I'm playing around with the format while getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving. (Yes, a day late- but my kids celebrate Thanksgiving with their dad and his family, so Black Friday is our new Thanksgiving day.) Hey, it never hurts to be thankful for extra days, right? And it certainly never hurts to have a feast more often!
Thanks for reading, and please drop by often. I can't promise to ever be brilliant, but I do look forward to getting to know you. :)
