New Adult Paranormal Romance :)
I'm so excited to announce that my new book--a New Adult Paranormal Romance--is now available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords! I hope you'll check it out!
Here's the description:
What she wanted: A night away from the stress of a full-time job, grad school, and helping to care for her 18-year-old autistic sister. Oh, and a cure for her clumsiness and out of control curls would be nice.
What she got: An attempted kidnapping, a strange realm filled with mystical creatures, and a stranger telling her he held a dictate with fine print she preferred not to read. Marry this guy and conceive a magical heir? Ha! Not likely.
What he wanted: An obedient woman, for starters. The contract was never his idea, but the fate of his world depended on their compliance.
What he got: The impossible task of training a too-spirited woman to channel her deep power. A sassy mortal who can’t comprehend the lengths this powerful canine shape-shifter will go to protect the ones he holds dear.
Will they find the middle ground before they violate The Immortal Contract?
Here are the links:

Thanks for checking it out!
xoxo,

Random Acts of Kindness Week!
This is going to be very quick because I have to get to an appointment with a personal trainer at the gym (ughhhhh- but no worries, it's just to show me how to work the new machines.)
BUT- it's Random Acts of Kindness Week, and I have always loved RAOK. :) So come celebrate with me at my FB page! Please? There will be lots of randomness, including gifts. Ten minutes ago I randomly selected someone to win a $5 Amazon gift card. Who knows what will be next? I can't wait to make people smile.
So come on over and join the fun. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Amanda-...
Hope to see you there!

Blizzard, Facebook, Giveaway, Oh My!
I am the most unreliable blogger EVER. In my defense, though, things around here have been hectic. My website is becoming more developed (www.amandatorrey.com- check it out!), I'm thisclose to completing Book 2 in the Teen Fury trilogy, and have been busy with promotional things like Goodreads giveaways and building a Facebook page (separate from my profile- this is a new "like" page.)
I'd love for you to join me over there. The link is: www.facebook.com/pages/Amanda-Torrey/...
And now we're expecting a blizzard here in New England. Which means I'll be snowed in with books, board games, excited kids, and hot tea and cocoa! I'm actually pretty excited about this! :)
How do you prepare for a storm? Do you love snow or hate it?

Contest! Contest!
Want a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Amazon, B&N, or any other ebook retailer? Just for being you?
No purchase necessary, and you don't have to read the book to enter. (Not that I'm trying to discourage anyone!)
Simply follow the link, send me a brief email via the "contact me" link on my website (be sure to include your name and email address) and you'll be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or your choice of another ebook retailer.
And if you'd like an extra entry, you can help me promote my book in some way (tell a friend, post on Facebook, tweet about it, write a review, whatever!) Just tell me what you did (by following the same "contact me" link) and I'll put you in for an extra chance to win.
The contest ends on February 14th. One entry per person, and one additional entry for every promotional thing you do for my book. (I'm not above bribery! This means if you promote my book in five different ways, you get five additional entries!)
If you've already entered, you don't have to enter again (unless you want the bonus opportunity, of course.) Good luck!

Wreck It Ralph
My kids and I just returned from (finally) seeing Wreck It Ralph. Since the kids are homeschooled, we often take advantage of Tuesday morning movies when it only costs six bucks each. It's nice to have the theater to ourselves, too!
I thought the movie was adorable, as are most Disney movies. It definitely had a few teary-eyed, sugary sweet moments, and the character arc was wonderful.
One of the things I love best about movies is examining the story arc. I adore comparing a movie storyline to how a book is conceived and written, and I love the moment when you don't necessarily know what's going to happen, but you think to yourself, "Hey, they had a seemingly benign scene early on with this particular device, how is it going to come into play later?" And then when the moment happens and something from that very scene comes into play to save the day, you feel a little like a genius for recognizing that the seed had been planted.
I get that same feeling when writing sometimes. A scene or particular scenario will creep into my story, and I will have no idea why. Then later it hits me- that scene was necessary to set the stage for bigger things to happen. And they all begin with something that seems rather useless at the time.
So what do you think? Is our subconscious just smarter than we are? Sometimes I think so!
