lizmoorebooks:

Hi. Here is what I’ve been working on for the past four years.

The galleys came in toward the end of December and they are big and beautiful.

The real deal will be available July 26, 2016, which seems both very far away and not far away enough.

Here’s what it’s all about (from the publisher’s description):

THE UNSEEN WORLD follows Ada Sibelius as she is raised by David, her single father, who is the brilliant, eccentric, socially inept head of a 1980s-era computer science lab in Boston. Homeschooled, Ada accompanies him to work every day; by twelve, she is a painfully shy prodigy. The lab begins to gain acclaim at the same time that David’s mind begins to falter and his mysterious past comes into question. When her father moves into a nursing home, Ada is taken in by one of David’s colleagues. She embarks on a mission to uncover her father’s secrets: a process that carries her from childhood to adulthood. Eventually, Ada pioneers a type of software that enables her to make contact with her past and to reconcile the man she thought she knew with the truth.

You can already add it on Goodreads, pre-order it, or request a NetGalley if you are into that.

In some ways, the half-year stretch before a book comes out is the best time; anything can happen. In others, it is the worst, longest stretch of months there ever was.

Have a video of me singing the ‘It All Goes Around’ song from @annleckie‘s awesome Ancillary series, because reasons.

Namely: I was out with my toddler just now, and I often sing to him while we’re walking. The lyrics suddenly popped into my head, along with a random little tune to match; he seemed to enjoy it, and so when we got home, this happened.

End of Answer Time

beatonna:

Well that is an hour and a half of questions and answers - I don’t want to clog people’s tumblrs any more than I already have so I’ll put a pin in it for now.  But this was really nice, it is nice to talk to you!  Maybe from time to time I will answer more things since there were so many.  Thank you for your questions!  Have a nice afternoon!

How do you feel about people loving your family comics? How does your family feel about them? I always get a kick out of them, your parents are delightful.

My family is very good about the comics I make about them.  Mostly they are just observations of day-to-day things, and in the end, those comics are about love and connection.  I’m really glad when other people like them or can relate to them, because it makes me feel closer to my readers as a human being.  The fact that I make them is just part of the wallpaper at home now, though publishing them would be a different story.  I don’t cross lines that would make my parents uncomfortable.
