ABOUT THE HAZARDS OF SEX ON THE BEACH (Hazards #3)
One broken heart, one drink too many, one steamy night in the sand...

  ON THE ROCKS Cover

ABOUT ON THE ROCKS (Mixology #2)
Love is best served on the rocks.  My roommates look really good naked. At least one of them does. I’m sure the other one does too, but I haven’t seen him without his pants on. Living with two guys wasn't something I’d ever considered, but the opportunity fell in my lap, and I’d have been crazy to turn it down. College went by in a great big blur leaving me with less of a direction than I had going in. Add in a family that wanted nothing to do with me, and my post-college plans were less than clear. What’s a girl to do when she has nowhere else to turn? She moves to the Outer Banks and learns to bartend. After all, it was my horrible bartending skills that led me to my roommate’s bed and into his heart

Excerpt
“Do we have a problem?” Killian asked. I chuckled humorlessly. His eyes narrowed and chest puffed up. “If you want to talk to me, we can talk,” Killian began. “You can say whatever you want to say to me, but don’t talk about Briar like that.” He pushed his seat back, ready to stand and what? Fight me? Was he really planning on fighting me? He was big, but I was bigger. He looked furious, but I was beyond that. He wanted to defend Briars honor? Yeah, well, I wanted to keep her from making a mistake with a dickhead she didn’t even know. Why did she want to be with someone like him, when I’ve been there since day one?
Briar was tense in her seat. Each of her muscles pulled taut and ready to spring if Killian or I made a move towards one another.“We met through my friend at work, Arrow,” Briar answered stiffly.I took a small sip of my whiskey, knowing that it was affecting my actions and mouth but not willing to stop. I wanted my chest to stop hurting and my mind to move away from Briar.
“When?” I asked.
Killian looked over at Briar, smiling a shit-eating grin. “A little over a week ago,” he answered for her.
“So are you two dating now?” I pointed my glass at Killian and then Briar. My eyes never left hers.
Briar coughed. “Uhm, well… I wouldn’t…” she started to speak.Killian interrupted her, “Yeah, we’re dating.” He didn’t bother looking at me. Instead he implored for Briar to look at him. She did. I bounced my sight between the two of them. Killian was looking at her quizzically. My guess was that he didn’t know if they were actually dating or not. The bastard was stating his claim on her, for the first time, right in front of me.
A petite, shy smile tugged at Briar’s lips, taking the ends and tipping them upwards just enough to tell us both that yes, she was okay with being exclusive with him. The whiskey became rotten in the depths of my stomach when Killian reached over and took Briar’s hand in his. He rubbed his thumb back and forth over her knuckles looking self-satisfied.
“Briar, can you grab me a beer?” I asked. I pushed my glass to the side. Briar looked at my nearly empty cup.
“You sure you should have another drink?” she asked, worry creasing the middle area between her brows.
“I’m sure,” I stated.
She shook her head, unconvinced, but stood up and went to the refrigerator. I leaned forward, my forearms lying flat on the wooden kitchen table. My hands were balled into tightly clenched fists, and my face was within a few inches of Killian’s.
“You know you’re dating my girl, right?” I asked, my jaw clenching tightly, my knuckles turning white from holding back my fists from meeting his nose.
The asshole didn’t look afraid though. He smiled at me with one of those smiles that widens your entire face and shows off every single one of your top and bottom teeth.
“Your girl, huh?” he laughed. “If she was your girl, I don’t think I’d be here right now. I don’t think she’d be holding my hand. I don’t think she would’ve told me that you were her best friend.” My glare must have echoed my fury, but he didn’t stop. “I think you’re confused man, so let me help you out…” Killian leaned forward in his chair, bringing us even closer. “She. Is. Not. Your girl. From what I’ve heard? She never has been. So, why don’t you back the fuck off,” he bit out the last words.

Cover reveal: MAKE IT COUNT by Megan Erickson!

Guys, I'm so thrilled today to be able to share with you the brand spankin' new cover for Megan Erickson's MAKE IT COUNT. I love that it's so bright and fun!

MAKE IT COUNT by Megan Erickson kicks off the lighthearted, funny, and sexy Bowler University series! Readers will love the fresh new series filled with laughter and lots of fun in this debut novel!
Kat Caruso wishes her brain had a return policy, or at least a complaint hot-line. The defective organ is constantly distracted, terrible at statistics, and absolutely flooded with inappropriate thoughts about her boyfriend's gorgeous best friend, Alec...who just so happens to be her brand new college math tutor. Who knew nerd was so hot?
Kat usually goes through tutors like she does boyfriends--both always seem to bail when they realize how hopeless she is. It's safer for her heart to keep everyone at arm's reach. But Alec is always stepping just a little too close.Alec Stone should not be fantasizing about Kat. She's adorable, unbelievably witty, and completely off limits. He'd never stab his best friend in the back...

But when secrets are revealed, the lines of loyalty are blurred. To MAKE IT COUNT, Alec must learn messy human emotions can't be solved like a trigonometry function. And Kat has to trust Alec may be the first guy to want her for who she is, and not in spite of it.

 * * * * *    e  x  c  e  r  p  t   * * * * *
Kat gathered her books and stuffed them into her plaid Burberry messenger bag, then headed toward the front doors, smoothie from the library snack shop in hand. Head bent, fiddling with the clasp of her bag, she stumbled into a wall of human on the pavement outside.     “Oh, I’m sorry—” Her voice dropped out when she realized the solid flesh belonged to Alec, Max’s best friend.     She’d only met him once or twice before he’d moved in with Max this semester and every time, he cocked his eyebrow with a half frown like he knew something she didn’t. Which he actually did, since he had brainy superpowers. Smarter than a speeding Einstein. Able to leap over C-minus students like her in a single bound.     She didn’t trust people that smart. And she didn’t trust a guy who didn’t ogle her ass or leer at her boobs like every other member of the straight male species on the planet.     Right now, that raised-eyebrow frown pinned her where she stood. His pale green eyes behind thick black frames roamed over her shoulder to the library and then back to her. With his pin-stripe button-down, dark jeans with Converse shoes and hair styled in a short, messy pompadour, he looked like a nerdy Elvis.     His frown morphed into a smile when he spotted the smoothie in her hand, and she definitely didn’t notice his full lips. “You know, you don’t have to venture into the forbidden zone just to get a smoothie.”     Oooh. The jerk. She glanced around surreptitiously, then leaned in and spoke in a low voice. “Just play it cool. Don’t let it slip someone like me snuck in the library.” She gripped his forearm and whispered. “Password today is rosebud.”     His face blanked and he looked at her like he’d never seen her before. Kat debated whether or not that was an improvement over his other look.     But then those intelligent eyes narrowed and a smirk curled his lips. “I know. We nerds get an e-mail every morning.”     See? He always needed the last word. She propped a hand on her hip and leaned in. “Well, sounds like you have a mole. Might want to look into that.”     He opened his mouth but she cut him off. “Just looking out for you guys. Anyway, see ya around!”     Before he could shoot back a snarky comeback, Kat skirted around him and bounded down the stairs. She chalked that up as Kat 1, Alec 0.

Thank you for stopping by the Many Sides of Medusa Blog Hop hosted by Heather Lyons and Kelly Hashway!
Door Prize: Your door prize for joining us is the short story prequel to the Touch of Death series titled Curse of Death. It's the myth about Medusa and how she was cursed by the goddess Athena. Claim your free gift by clicking here.

Heather and Kelly are teaming up to show you a very different side of Medusa. Forget the monster you might think she was, and check out these excerpts from The Deep End of the Sea and Touch of Death. You just might change your mind about Medusa.

The Deep End of the Sea excerpt:
The Deep End of the Sea But there’s no way around it. I am, in fact, a monster. A hideous one, to be precise, but as I don’t have any mirrors on Gorgóna, I can’t verify that one for certain. I rely on the fact that every single person I’ve frozen over the ages boasts abject fear on their face, which makes me believe they find me pretty horrifying. And it sucks. It genuinely, truly, absolutely, unequivocally sucks. I hate stealing lives.

Thus, not only am I a monster, I’m a really lousy one. A lonely, classic Five Stages of Grief following, insecure, shut-in of a pathetic beast who talks to the snakes on her head and the statues on her island.

Touch of Death excerpt:
My hair blew up, flying wildly all around me. My blood bubbled in my veins like boiling water, but it didn't hurt. It was the feeling of power. Too much power. My body felt like it was going to burst. Still I held on. My eyes closed, and I threw my head back. An imaged filled my mind. Medusa. Her snakes wriggled their bodies at me, flicking their tongues. Chills ran down the backs of my legs, but I forced my eyes away from the snakes. Lower. To Medusa's face. She smiled at me. Her face and eyes filled with warmth. She looked like…Mom.

"Do not fear me, Jodi. My blood lies in your veins and in your heart. You are one of mine. My children."

SEARCH is a New Adult Paranormal Romance (woot-woot!) and the second novel in her The Empire Chronicles Series. You'll definitely want to add SEARCH to your TBR pile, because HELLO. Alyssa Rose Ivy books are awesome and a lil like crack for books, right? So addictive!

Search cover designed by Phatpuppy Art

Search (The Empire Chronicles, Book 2)  *New Adult Paranormal Romance*
Casey isn't human. The revelation should terrify her, but it doesn't. Instead it excites her. Too bad not everyone is as excited as she is.

Torn between two lives, the only one she's ever known and her life as a paranormal princess, Casey has to decide whether she can trust the man she loves.
Sometimes being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Soar-Alyssa Rose Ivy

Soar (The Empire Chronicles, Book 1)
In the city that never sleeps the Chronicles continue…

Serving coffee is temporary, just like Casey's year off from school. She’s going to come up with a plan to stay in New York City and go back to college, and that plan does not involve dating a paranormal creature—let alone two.

Running the supernatural society of New York is not as fun as it sounds, especially when you still have to answer to your ex-girlfriend’s fiancé. Toby doesn’t mean to bring Casey into the chaos of his life, but he can't resist the girl who makes him smile when he thought no one else ever could.

Jared's in New York checking out a security risk for his best friend, the king. He plans to return to New Orleans quickly, but not if it means losing his chance with the brunette who pretends she wants nothing to do with him.

In over her head with a bunch of winged creatures who most definitely are not angels, Casey has to figure out who to trust with her life and maybe her heart.

THE DEEP END OF THE SEA Playlist

Many of you might already know I’m a total music junkie. I think that might be putting it mildly, actually. I adore music. I listen to it all day; I collect songs like other girls collect shoes. (okay. I collect those, too.) Can’t write without it. All of my books have extensive playlists that play crucial roles in helping me craft scenes and characters, and The Deep End of the Sea is no different.
Before I get into the songs, though—I want to point out that, of all my books, this is one of my very favorite soundtracks, filled with songs that touch me deeply. I still listen to it often, because it means that much to me. A lot of the book formed in my mind after hearing John Mayer’s Born and Raisedalbum. Have you heard it? It’s kind of folky, the perfect sort of music for a road trip, all mellow and thoughtful and lovely. Which may not necessarily lead you to think about Greek mythological monsters, but I feel like that album really gets Dusa. Have a listen. See if you agree.

I’ve put together a condensed Spotify list for you to listen to (songs placed in order of their placement in the book), and I also want to highlight some of the key songs from the book for you, since a lot of people ask me when certain songs are important to the story. BUT. If you don't like spoilers, then just stick to this playlist below. All of the write-ups below the Spotify list are highly spoiler-y.

THE OFFICIAL DEEP END OF THE SEA PLAYLIST

1.

  *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

SPOILERS, WILL ROBINSON. SPOILERS FOR THE DEEP END OF THE SEA AHEAD!You have been warned!

Okay. Let's dish the tunes for TDEotS, okay? My playlist actually has 45 songs on it, but I condensed it above for you all to the key songs and here I condense it further by highlighting the most important of these. Also, you should check them all out. Each song is fantastic!

The Line by Noah and The Whale. This is the opening of the book—Medusa’s loneliness and struggles are sometimes too difficult to bear. And yet, she keeps putting one foot in front of the other (metaphorically, of course).
But then she'll ask, as she cleans up the glass,"Is this the line?Is this the line?Is this the line between heaven and hell

Song for Zula  by Phosphorescent. This song, friends. THIS SONG. I cannot express how in love with the song I am. I feel like it fits Medusa so well. It’s definitely one of the key songs, feel-wise, to the book.

You see the moon is bright in that treetop nightI see the shadows that we cast in the cold clean lightI might fear I go and my heart is whiteAnd we race right out on the desert plains all nightSo honey I am now, some broken thingI do not lay in the dark waiting for day hereNow my heart is gold, my feet are rightAnd I'm racing out on the desert plains all night

A Face to Call Home by John Mayer. Oh, this beautiful, lovely song. Let’s just say that this song was key to developing the relationship between Hermes and Medusa.
Little by little, inch by inch,we built a yard with a garden in the middle of it.It ain't much, but it's a start. You got me swaying right alongto the song in your heart . . .and a face to call home
Requiem on Water by Imperial Mammoth. This song has to do with a chaise lounge. ‘Nuff said.
And though your arms and legs are under, love will be the echo in your ears when all is lost and plunder. My love will be there still

Lose Yourself by Eminem. This was used during a scene roughly midway through the book that was incredibly difficult to write. You’ll know when you get there. How far are people willing to go to get what they want? How far should they go?
Look, If you had one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment, would you capture it or just let it slip?

Whole Heart by Cheyenne Mize. Medusa learns that changes in life aren’t always what we hope them to be. This bittersweet song was instrumental in a key transition in the story.
I thought about leaving today—packing my bags and running away.I’m really good at these things;I’m really good at . . . I’ve practiced these things.

Never Leave Home by Soft Swells. Sometimes a person needs to pick themselves up by the bootstraps and learn to let go and move on. This song was all about Dusa finally taking control of her life. Damn, I love this song. Just listen as swells throughout the bridge. To me, it’s all about hope.
This is not right;I thought it would be easy. This is not right;I thought it would flow. This is not right;I thought would be easy. But she’ll never fall in loveif you never leave home.

Just a Dream by Nelly. Uncertainty is a terrible thing to live through, isn’t it?             I was thinking 'bout her, thinking 'bout me,thinking 'bout us, what we gon' be.Open my eyes, yeah, it was only just a dream. So I travelled back down that road, will she come back? No one knows.I realize, yeah, it was only just a dream.

Control byPoe. This song has a lot of deep, personal meanings to me from personal experiences in my life. So when it came time for Dusa to confront Poseidon for once and for all, I looked no further than this song. To me, it’s all about taking control back from somebody who should never have had it in the first place.
You thought you could keep me from loving, you thought you could feed on my soul. But while you were busy destroying my life, what was half in me has become whole.
While you were looking the other way, while you had your eyes closed, while you were licking your lips'cause I was miserable, while you were selling your soul, while you were tearing a hole in me . . .
I was taking control.
Don’t you mess with me.

Painting by Chagallby The Weepies. Fairy tales love happy endings. Because this song is so gorgeous, I’m just going to give you all the lyrics. Try not to swoon.
Thunder rumbles in the distance, a quiet intensity.I am willful, your insistence is tugging at the best of me.You’re the moon, I’m the water;you’re Mars, calling up Neptune’s daughter.
Sometimes rain that’s needed falls . . .We float like two lovers in a painting by Chagall—all around is sky and blue town, holding these flowers for a wedding gown.We live so high above the ground, satellites surround us.
I am humbled in this city;there seems to be an endless sea of people like us.Wakeful dreamers, I pass them on the sunlit streets. In our rooms filled with laughter,we make hope from every small disaster.
Everybody says “you can’t, you can't, you can't, don’t try.”till, everybody says that if they had the chance, they'd fly like we do.
