Iridescent insect sculptures from ewaste

mostlysignssomeportents:

UK artist Julie Alice Chapell’s Computer Component Bugs sculptures are iridescent, intricate assemblage sculptures made from ewaste.

Chapell was inspired

by a box of electronic components donated to a crafting centre in

Portsmouth, later augmented by the cast-offs from someone else’s failed

robot-building project. From these discards emerged a gorgeous phylum of

electronic arthropods. At $100-$150 (£65-100) each, these are

remarkably reasonably priced for original sculptures, too.

Computer Component Bugs [Etsy]

Damselfly GBP105

Fairy moth GBP68

Peacock butterfly GBP72

Blue jewelled butterfly, GBP75

Taisol bug, GBP75

Short bodied buterfly, GBP95

These are beautiful little sculptures

archiemcphee:

Chicago-based artist Alex Solis creates simple drawings that turn into awesome finished pieces with the incorporation of his own hands and/or other ordinary objects, like potato chips or fruit. He brings his drawings to life by appearing to interact with them.

You can view more of Alex’s artwork by following him here on Tumblr.
