Life and general updates, Book Singing, and Readings
I know I have been quiet for the last few day but I have been traveling for the day job, I have been in Mississippi conducting some training. My last post was about the marriage equality bill in Maryland. I am happy to say it passed and was a huge step forwards for civil rights. [...]

Marriage Equality
So I just came back from voting. To preface this, I live in a highly educated and mostly liberal area. I was so saddened to see at least 3 signs opposing the law and none for it. First off I think it is disgusting that their even needs to be a vote. It is [...]

First official reading of Egret the Elephant at a local preschool
I had three readings today at a local pre-school. I think it went well. The 2 year olds were a bit antsy and focused more on the pictures. But I asked some questions and they were able to answer them so they were at least following the story. We weren’t able to get to the [...]

Sex and Violence in Media
So I just took a nasty fall running on a trail near my house. I never fall running on trails but maybe I had too much on my mind this time. One of the myriad of things I was thinking about on my brief run was my newly establish career sideline. Egret is doing pretty [...]

First missed Halloween
So last night was my first ever missed Halloween with my boys. By the time I got home from work, they were both sleeping. Now this is not the first time I have gotten home after they had gone off to bed. In fact since I have been reduced to 3 days a week, it’s [...]

Sex
Did you know my blog is banded from several hotel business centers. Probably has something to do with the post where I TALKED about my accidental nudity. Well here is more fodder for the censors. I can not write a sex scene. I don’t know why since I am not a particularly modest or prudish [...]

Josh’s first field trip, skydiving and bubble wrap
OK it’s not really his first field trip, he went on plenty in preschool. But this was the first time Melissa didn’t chaperon. They went to a farm to go pick pumpkins and corn for Halloween. Though I wouldn’t call myself a helicopter parent, I am fully aware that others might. That’s OK I probably don’t approve of their parenting style either. [...]

Cheater cheater pumpkin eater
I really don’t get why people cheat at games. Seriously what is the point. Especially when there is no real reward for “winning.” I get the logic even if I don’t believe in it, why someone would cheat when there is an obvious benefit. But why cheat when their is nothing to covet. At this point [...]

I hate school Busses
Update: After talking again to Melissa, I realized I misunderstood her. He has been hitting other kids regularly. This was the first time it happened to Josh. I still hate school buses. I hate them. I was admittedly against josh taking the bus to school. I have in because the are rebuilding his school, and there was no way for Melissa to make it [...]

running
Update 1. First run. went OK. Took it as a jog. Hit my distance goal of 5k+ and only moderate hip pain. For awhile I was up to running 12-14 miles 3-4 times a week. Over the summer my doctor started adjusting my medications and I ended up having a hard time running consistently. [...]
