My Book Cover is Live!
My author page and book are live on Amazon and my book is available for pre-order! Today, my book cover appeared on Goodreads! And so a writing journey begins, though this isn't really the beginning. In fact, it's just a stepping stone to another rung in the ladder. But this blog post signifies a very important first in my life and I'm so glad I can share this moment with you.
My journey actually began twenty years ago with the purchase of my very first computer. I'd always written poetry, but sitting in front of a computer filled me with the desire to actually write that book I'd always wanted to write. I spent years researching historical material. Years trying to get the writing 'right', while raising four children. And though my writing came in spurts back then, I never stopped feeding the dream of seeing my books published.
"Never, never, never, never, never give up!" Winston Churchill's quote has become my motto. (I actually wear a bracelet with this quote on it every day.)
Life is a cycle of change. When my children were nearly all grown, I began to focus more seriously on this dream of mine. I joined RWA and then one year later my local writing chapter. At that point, amazing possibilities opened. Online classes, workshops, conferences all helped sculpt my writing style. The connections I made with friends and acquaintances inside the industry forever changed my life. I owe a great debt of gratitude to everyone I've come into contact with. Because experiences, acquaintances and friends are what mold and shape destinies.
Snippets of conversation, books and movies, sparks of inspiration, if fed and nurtured eventually become marvelous realities.
In my research, I discovered Admiral Nelson was never without his tea. I was fascinated by this and took it a bit further. What if Nelson had a group of mercenaries, first sons from every tier of life, above reproach, able to move in and out of society without suspicion, aptly named Nelson's Tea. No one would understand the reference, except those within Nelson's circle. And the Nelson's Tea Trilogy was born.
The first book in the series, Duke By Day, Rogue By Night follows Percival Avery, Marques Stanton. Deep undercover, he's forced to save Lady Constance Danbury's life, jeopardizing all hope of ever locating his sister's killers and bringing them to justice.
Decisions we make are what sculpt us. I'm delighted to be able to share my first book, Duke By Day, Rogue By Night, with you, dear reader. And I hope you enjoy the adventurous, swashbuckling ride!
