Angels Among Us

For centuries, different religions all over the world have clung to the idea of angels living among us. We're taught to treat others as you would have them treat you, because you never know if you're entertaining an angel in disguise.

Angels are congregating in Newtown, Connecticut, and among all those effected by Hurricane Sandy. Blessings to each and every family effected by these horrible tragedies, especially as the holidays near. Nothing is worse than being without the ones you love, without your child, or without a home to celebrate.

Sometimes happiness can be a double-edged sword, can't it?

I have much to celebrate this year. First, the good health of my loved ones. Second, publication of my first book and signing two more contracts. Third, knowing that my story is reaching people I would've never known otherwise. Fourth, the knowledge that my entire family will be together this Christmas, for the first time in quite a few years. And fifth, the up and coming birth of my third grandchild.

In the midst of all this joy, however, I also share in the grief of those who will not experience a happy holiday season this year. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. Trust, as hard as it may be, that you are not alone. You will never ever be alone. A community of friends surround you in prayer, lifting you up when all seems lost.

And so, me hearties. Cling to your loved ones today and always. Entertain angels in disguise. Be an angel to a stranger. You never know when one may be prepared to carry you through the storm.

Peace and comfort always,

Katherine

Hemlock Grove!

Sad times, me hearties. It's a delicate subject that I don't want to depress you with, but our pastor died this week after having a massive stroke. He was only 60 years old. Our church family is striving to provide comfort to his grieving widow and children.

How do you get through grief? I usually want to sleep. But this weekend I had a planned event in Montgomery, the Alabama Book Festival, to attend. It was a bittersweet time, but no greater boon to my spirits. Being with friends is one of the best ways to get through hard times. Selling one of my Duke by Day, Rogue by Night paperback books and signing it to Kristan was a bright spot in my day! (Thanks, Kristan!!)

This weekend I've found another way to ease my soul. Netflix has what they call a "binge series" called Hemlock Grove. If you haven't heard of this series, check it out here:
http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Hem...

Like a lovesick fool, I watched all 13 episodes, 9 of which I watched today. And I have to admit I'm addicted!!! So I urge you, if you're feeling down or you're just plan bored, sit down and prop your feet up. Hemlock Grove has got it all... vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters, suspense, who-done-it and more.

I may just have to watch it again...
Blessings,
Katherine
