NOT USUALLY A FAN OF SERIES...

...but Miss Nobody had me at the prologue. 2 requests--I just had to know the 2 requests. The book is well crafted, taking the reader on a personal journey with the characters. I saw a previous review which commented on grammatic errors. There were a few, but hardly enough to deter a reader from enjoying this work. I felt as if any one of the characters could be someone that I know. Its important to establish that connection between the reader and the characters, which Nicole Dunlap accomplished. Each new reveal brought about a new revelation--the next more shocking than the previous. I am ready for the next installment to find out how the Shaw Family Saga continues to unravel.

On to Smashwords!

Yes! I finally accomplished my first goal of the week. "SHED" is now published as an ebook on Smashwords! I can now sell my ebook on ANY website with ANY retailer (not just Amazon)! It has been a long 90 days with KDP Select. Believe me, I am grateful for all that I got accomplished with KDP. But I must admit, it is nice to have the distribution restrictions released. "I know why the caged bird sings." Lol. I kid, I kid! The 90 days was very productive and I saw my highest ebook (Kindle) rank in the month of October on Amazon because of the KDP program. Thank goodness for free promotions as a tool to get my book some exposure! Not too shabby. :)

Get your ebook version of "SHED" today!

AND THE WINNERS ARE....

Katherine and Isabella! Each of these ladies have one a signed copy of my new book, "SHED" through a Goodreads giveaway that was held 9/20-10/20. 526 people entered. This was surprising to me but I am grateful that so many people wanted the copy. I know people love freebies, but it is my belief that people requested it because they also like/love the genre of poetry and are curious to read my thoughts. I am happy to share. Books will be mailed today.

Bitter Bugs!

I began this topic on my facebook account. I decided to expand on it here.

Past relationships make some people so bitter. Then their bitterness creates a bitter spirit that works to invade the minds and hearts of everyone whom they encounter. I should write about that and call it Bitter Bugs! Hmmmmmm.....

Have you ever met someone who was completely shutdown on the topic of love and relationships? Not just the emotional part of it, but the topic, period. It is even worse when those individuals do not realize the negativity that they give off regarding their exes and past ships of relations. It is as if the person sunk and drowned when their previous partnerships ended.

Why is that? Why so bitter? I should know the answer. For the longest time I was the bitter one and became a maneating vixen that would break a man down and leave him wondering what happened. How did I become that way? I gave a man too much credit for my happiness and influential power over how my life would progress and be lived.

Initially, I had the mentality that the heartbreaking ending was no big deal. I was in denial. This is turning into a book. Let me stop right here and just ask: Have any of you ever been the offender or offendee in such a situation?

Overlooking the Bay

So, I drove down to San Diego today. Traffic was...well...traffic. The 405 and the 5 are two freeways/interstates that I just cannot figure out. Anywho, the scenery made the drive a calm--otherwise, road rage would have ensued.

I am sitting in my hotel room at the moment, thinking about all that I did today. Great weather, great views, great food--I experienced them all. Yet, I am not inspired to write. I am confused. The view of the bay and the marina is usually enough to make me pour out a poem or three, or a short story. Maybe I am too consumed with getting to as many places as possible in the short time that I am here. What else could it be?

I do know that at this rate, the 10/31 deadline that I set for my finished rough draft is a joke! I must do better! Lord help me to focus on my writing. Because as beautiful as the bay is, it cannot complete my work. I has to get better.

Lust Story

One of these days I am going to write a good old lust story. Yes, I said lust, not love. So many people believe that they are in love or the person that they are "fooling around" with are in love with them. Sometimes the desired individual does not have any love for them at all. "Toot It and Boot It"...how about that for a title? What a song, what a song. Anyone can have a music career these days.

Anywho, back to the topic. It really saddens me to hear and see women so bitter about men who they say never gave a darn about them. As females, we can be emotional and give of ourselves so easily to those who are not deserving. Why is that the case? I can admit it. I have been that woman before. I have been that man as well. Yes, women can take men for granted too and abuse their kindness and loving spirit.

But at some point down the road that man or woman wants a GOOD man or woman, whom has already came and went. Don't end up settling for someone who keeps you from being lonely, when you can invest your time and efforts into a loving and committed relationship that takes you beyond the threshold of contentment.

Yep, that's definitely another book that I have to write. Hey Marcus, what do you think?

Intellectual Prowess

Everyone should have at least one person in their life with whom they can be intellectually in tune. As a matter of fact, everyone should have my favorite muse. Every time that we text, email, speak, or indirectly communicate by viewing each others' thoughts on social sites, I am truly inspired. He would say the same about me. All that it takes is one word to spark new thoughts and ideas for creating new works of literary content. Yet, I am amazed at this phenomenon each time that it happens. I once blew it off as randomness, but I have come to embrace it for what it is--a voice which speaks truth that enlightens me and flings open the doors to my trapped thoughts. How beautiful is that?

Weather is Changing...

...and so is my mood. Although, I do not believe that there is any direct correlation between the two. Life experiences are to blame.

2 days ago, I wanted to finish my work based on funny, witty, thoughts--and I will. But now I have a mind to write something dark. Maybe it is just my procrastinating subconscious that is trying to lure me away from my goal of finishing this rough draft by 10/31/12. Anyone else experiencing this right now? If so, maybe in your case its truly the weather?

I'M BACK AND ON A MISSION!

So if anything, these past few months of witnessing the decline in my aunt's health status and her death has reminded me once again that life is too short! She was only 44 but she touched so many souls during her time here on earth.

Soooooo, I have given myself an October 31st deadline to complete the rough draft of my second book! I will be a busy bee for the next couple of weeks. But I am ready! Are any of you working towards a goal that you would like to complete by the year's end?
