"Call me Ishmael" - Herman Melville - Moby Dick, undeniably one of the most well known first lines in literature. And how about, "It was the day my grandmother exploded" - Iain M. Banks - The Crow Road. Interesting, to say the least. Then there's the ever-famous, "Once Upon A Time." - We all know how that ends, or not.
Those are great first lines from the past, now how about some great first lines from Authors of the present?
With the Author's consent, I've compiled a list of opening lines in today's literature. I hope you'll have fun reading through these openings. Who knows, it may even spark a novel in you.
