GenCon Powder Mage RPG Play-Through Available

EDIT: *THESE SPOTS ARE ALL GONE NOW. IF YOU'D LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED AS A BACKUP, DROP ME AN EMAIL AS MENTIONED BELOW*

Hey guys! Back when we did the Kickstarter for the Powder Mage RPG, we had five spots in the "Privileged Cabal" level of funding that you can see at the bottom of the Pledge levels here. This pledge level gives the backer an opportunity to play the Powder Mage RPG with me and Alan during GenCon and costs $250. It also includes the following:

Softcover Powder Mage RPGHardcover Powder Mage RPGPowder Mage RPG PDFPowder Mage Action DeckSet of Powder Mage DiceSet of 15 Powder Mage Poker Chips

The slots were all filled to the very end of the Kickstarter, at which time two people dropped out of their pledges. This means I have two extra spots at the game table the Friday night of GenCon. If you're going to be there and would like to upgrade your old pledge or get on board late to the game, please get in touch with me at brian (at) brianmcclellan (dot) com. Thanks!

Powder Mage RPG Pre-orders

For those of you not in the know, game maker Alan Bahr and I kickstarted a Powder Mage RPG. It's currently in production and heading toward an August 2017 release date. If you'd like to see the updates regarding writing and production, check out the kickstarter page linked above.

A lot of people have asked if they can still get in on the project before release, and the answer is yes! You can do so through the Backerkit, which will allow you to pre-order the RPG books, components, and other powder mage stuff. We'll be charging shipping and pre-orders through Backerkit around the end of June, so if you want to get in on it early you should do so by then.

If you miss out, you will still be able to order the RPG through my website store once the kickstarter has been delivered.

War Cry

I'm delighted to announce the sale of a new story to Tor.com. Here's the cover copy:

On the high plains, war is life.

Teado has been a part of the war effort for as long as he can remember. His childhood was spent in the aircraft and ammunition factories until his power manifested. Now he is on the front lines, fighting the great war as one of the monstrous shapeshifting wizards that are all but extinct after decades of battle.

Behind enemy lines, Teado’s special operations platoon plays a deadly game of cat and mouse, sabotaging and demoralizing the enemy. But food is scarce. The enemy has pushed their main forces back further and their requests for resupply have gone unanswered. They will make one last dangerous bid for survival and, maybe, change the course of the war forever.

Read more about it here.

Signed Books for UK Fans

Hey all! I've been working with a reseller in the UK to get some signed editions over there in bulk to save some on the crazy price of international shipping. If you live in the UK and would like to get your hands on these, the Quill and Claw is offering signed/personalized of all my books for the next two weeks (after which I will send the shipment over). This includes the novellas and my short story collection, as well as the jewelry from Badali.

Release Day!

Today is the release day for my fourth book, Sins of Empire. The first in a new series set in the Powder Mage Universe, Sins is a culmination of two years of hard work (including an entire draft that was scrapped and will never see the light of day). I am very excited to share it will you, and I hope you enjoy.  Purchase links below.

A world on the cusp of a new age…
The young nation of Fatrasta is a turbulent place — a frontier destination for criminals, fortune-hunters, brave settlers, and sorcerers seeking relics of the past. Only the iron will of the lady chancellor and her secret police holds the capital city of Landfall together against the unrest of an oppressed population and the machinations of powerful empires.

Sedition is a dangerous word…
The insurrection that threatens Landfall must be purged with guile and force, a task which falls on the shoulders of a spy named Michel Bravis, convicted war hero Mad Ben Styke, and Lady Vlora Flint, a mercenary general with a past as turbulent as Landfall’s present.

The past haunts us all…
As loyalties are tested, revealed, and destroyed, a grim specter as old as time has been unearthed in this wild land, and the people of Landfall will soon discover that rebellion is the least of their worries.
