Read a Sneak PeekCHAPTER ONE
The ancient wooden sign, weathered and worn, creaked a gentle welcome as Celeste Rowan’s car crossed the town limits into Whispering Pines. Tendrils of mist curled around the vehicle, an ethereal greeting from the enchanted village she’d left behind so long ago.
At fourteen, Celeste’s parents had died and she’d been sent off to live with a distant relative who had adopted her and changed her name. Being a child, she packed her bags and bid farewell. Oh, she’d missed Whispering Pines, but she moved on with her life. She never imagined she’d find herself drawn back to this place where magic crackled in the very air she breathed.
“I can’t believe you’re actually doing this,” Nia, her adoptive sister’s voice echoed through the car’s speakers, a hint of amusement coloring her tone. “Leaving the boring human world behind for a town full of witches and shifters. You’re living every fantasy nerd’s dream, you know that, right?”
Celeste chuckled, her eyes never leaving the winding road ahead. “It’s not like I planned it, Nia. When Aunt Maggie died and left me the house
in her will, I figured it was a sign. Maybe it’s time to reconnect with my roots.”
As her car wound through the narrow, cobblestone streets, Celeste couldn’t help but marvel at the way time seemed to have frozen in Whispering Pines. The quaint shops and cozy cottages looked just as they had in her memories–snapshots from a bygone era.
The bakery where she’d spent countless afternoons indulging in cinnamon rolls still stood on the corner, its windows fogged with the heat of ovens working overtime. The library with its towering spires and stained-glass windows, loomed in the distance, a beacon of knowledge in the heart of the town.
Back then, she’d run around town with Kade by her side. The thought of him made her heart clench. He’d been the only reason she argued against leaving. But she’d been outvoted by her family. They wanted her out of a place full of paranormals and into the human world, learning to be one of them. She’d never been one of them. A human. Being in their world only made her realize how much she didn’t belong there.
Memories flooded in, snippets of a childhood spent exploring every nook and cranny of this magical place. Celeste remembered the hours spent in the woods, learning to harness her powers and commune with nature. She recalled the laughter and the tears, the friendships forged, and the secrets shared. It was a bittersweet nostalgia tinged with the knowledge that she’d left a piece of herself behind when she’d gone away all those years ago.
“Earth to Celeste,” Nia’s voice cut through her thoughts. “You still with me, or have you already been enchanted by some mysterious supernatural hunk?”
Celeste snorted, grateful for her sister’s uncanny ability to lighten the mood. “Please, I’ve sworn off men, magical or otherwise. My track record speaks for itself.”
“Hey, maybe this move is exactly what you need. A fresh start, a chance to find love in a town where everyone’s a little bit weird. Embrace the cliché, sis. Find your brooding shifter soul mate and live happily ever after.”
Despite herself, Celeste’s thoughts drifted right back to Kade. The boy who always made her heart skip a beat. She wondered if he was still here and if he’d ever gotten married and started a family of his own. In her mind’s eye, she saw his crooked smile and the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he laughed. He’d been a few years older, but he’d never treated her like a child. Instead, he’d been her protector, her confidante, and the one person who truly understood the depth of her magic.
“Actually, there was this boy I used to know. Kade Blackwood. We were inseparable back then, but I doubt he even remembers me now.”
Nia let out a low whistle. “Kade Blackwood? Even his name sounds like it belongs in a sexy man calendar. I’m calling it now, Celeste. He’s the one.”
Celeste rolled her eyes, grateful that her sister couldn’t see the blush creeping up her cheeks. “You’re impossible. I’m not here for romance, Nia. I’m here to reconnect with my past and maybe figure out my future.”
“Can’t blame a girl for dreaming.” Nia sighed dramatically. “But seriously, tell me more about this house. Aunt Maggie always made it sound like something straight out of a fairy tale.”
Celeste described the sprawling Victorian mansion that had been in her mother’s family for generations. Nia, a human also adopted into the family, had never been to Whispering Pines.
A thrill of anticipation coursed through Celeste’s veins. The house was a marvel, a testament to the magic that flowed through her bloodline. Its walls hummed with ancient energy, and its rooms were filled with secrets waiting to be uncovered. Celeste had spent countless hours exploring its hidden passages and dusty attic as a child, always sensing there was something special about this place.
But as she turned down the final stretch of road, the air around her car began to shimmer and ripple like the surface of a pond disturbed by a thrown stone. The magical energy that permeated Whispering Pines intensified, crackling and popping like static electricity. Celeste felt a surge of panic as her car began to shudder and lurch, the steering wheel fighting her grip.
“What—”
“Nia, something’s wrong,” Celeste managed to grit out, her knuckles turning white as she struggled to keep the car on the road.
Nia’s voice was distant, muffled by the roaring in Celeste’s ears. She could barely make out her sister’s frantic words, urging her to pull over, to get to safety. But it was too late. The car veered sharply to the right, tires screeching against the pavement as it careened off the road and into the dense foliage of the enchanted forest that bordered the town. Branches scraped against the windshield, and leaves whipped past the windows in a dizzying blur of green and brown.
Desperate, Celeste reached deep within herself, tapping into the well of magic that had always been her birthright. She murmured an incantation, her voice shaking with fear and adrenaline, hoping to cast a protective spell that would shield her from harm. But the magic, usually so responsive to her commands, seemed to rebel against her. It backfired in a blinding flash of light, engulfing the car in an eerie, pulsating glow.
Pain seared behind her eyes like a white-hot poker being driven into her skull. She cried out, her hands flying to her temples as the agony intensified. The world around her began to spin and tilt, the colors bleeding together into a sickening kaleidoscope of hues. She fought to stay conscious, to cling to the threads of reality that were rapidly unraveling, but it was a losing battle.
As the darkness closed in, Celeste’s last coherent thought was of Kade. She pictured his face, his kind eyes, and his gentle smile, and felt a flicker of warmth in her chest. She wished she could’ve seen him one last time, to tell him all the things she’d left unsaid. Even at fourteen, she’d known he was her first and possibly only love. But the void was waiting, and Celeste had no choice but to surrender to its embrace.

Adeline, the human mother of two adopted shifter girls, is on the run after trying to take down a powerful, embezzling shifter. Her family is threatened, and only Gerri Wilder has the contacts to help her. She just hoped for some help, not for Gerri to find her a hunky shifter to make her think of romance.
Griffin gave up his birthright as alpha. When Gerri Wilder asks for his help protecting a friend, he can’t turn her down. Then the beautiful human needing his help turns out to be his fated mate. Now, he can’t and won’t keep his hands off her.
Griffin’s mate comes with an insta-family. He’s not sure he’s ready for that. He can barely take care of himself. But more than his protective instincts come to life when he realizes every dream he’s ever had is wrapped up in his new mate and family. If he can’t find a way to keep them safe, all he’s ever wanted will be gone.
GRIFFIN
It’s 3:25 in the morning. Who the fuck was calling? Griffin’s eyes snapped open as the phone continued to ring on the nightstand, and he grumbled in exasperation as he fumbled to silence the incessant sound.
The noise only seemed to grow louder with each passing second. Flinging a well-muscled arm out, Griffin ended up knocking his cell to the floor in his attempt to see who needed him this late. Or early, depending on how one wanted to look at it.
With a grimace, he grabbed his phone off the white rug and looked at the name. Gerri Wilder. Temporarily stunned, he stared at her name for a moment while the phone continued to ring.
While it was certainly unusual to get phone calls at this late hour, it wasn’t out of the ordinary either. He was a bodyguard, and clients needed him no matter what time it was. Thinking Gerri must need protection, he slid the bar to the side of the screen to answer.
“Hello?”
“Griffin? Hi. Gerri Wilder.”
“Gerri, hi. Everything okay?”
The concern in his voice was evident. But he knew that wasn’t the only reason people depended on his protection. He was powerful, capable, and, as more than one woman had told him, easy on the eyes.
Griffin was ex-military, having served several tours overseas. Because of his time in the Middle East, he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and chose to keep to himself. It was hard to break through that iron exterior, but it made him very good at his chosen profession.
“Well, not exactly, Griffin. I need your help.”
“Yeah. Of course. What’s going on? Are you in danger?” Griffin was both surprised and honored that Gerri … beloved, respected Gerri … would choose him in her time of need. “No. I’m not. I guess I should rephrase that. I have a woman with me, Adeline, and her two young shifter daughters. They are in need of your services.”
Griffin sat up, kicking his black comforter to the foot of the mattress. The wooden headboard of his king-sized bed felt cold against his bare back. He didn’t relish the thought of babysitting a woman and her two brats. Carefully, so as to not offend Gerri, he spoke his mind. “It sounds like you guys should seek the pack’s protection for this. Why don’t you contact Carl? He’s the alpha, and he’ll be able to offer this woman a lot more than I can.”
Gerri scoffed on the other line. “Don’t be ridiculous, Griffin. You should be the alpha, not Carl. We all know that. I understand you didn’t want to follow in your father’s or your grandfather’s footsteps, but you are the rightful leader of the pack.”
She sighed dramatically. “But you handed the reins to Carl, and he’s out of town on vacation. Went to the Bahamas. It must be nice to up and leave when you have an entire pack to look after, but what do I know? Personally, I wouldn’t let him babysit a fruit fly. Regardless, you’re who I need. Will you help us or not?”
Griffin blew out a pent-up breath. Gerri was never one to hold back. More than once she had made it clear she thought Griffin made a huge mistake turning down the role of alpha. However, it was not a situation he regretted and not one he was looking to rectify.
“Of course, I’ll help you,” he said with a sigh.
“Fabulous!” Gerri cried. “I knew you would. I’m going to send you an encrypted message with their address. They’re staying at a safe house.”
“And that’s where you want me to … guard them?”
“No. You’ll need to take them all back to Burlington with you. This safe house is a short-term solution, unfortunately.”
In the background, he heard another woman’s voice. Griffin’s wolf reared inside him. This is different. We need to do this.
The thought of a strange woman and not one but two children staying with him sounded positively dreadful, but Griffin wasn’t inclined to argue with his wolf.
As if sensing his hesitation, his wolf growled. Immediately, the desire to shift and run to this safe house took over. Griffin gripped the phone hard as he fought for control.
Still, the desire didn’t fade until Griffin promised the wolf they’d head there.
With a satisfied snort, his wolf receded into the furthest recess of his mind, but Griffin could still feel him pacing.
“Griffin? Are you still with me?”
Gerri’s voice pierced his thoughts, and he shook his head the same way his wolf shook out his fur after he shifted.
“Yeah, sorry, Gerri. Um, yeah. Text me the address, and I’ll be there first thing.”
“Great. Thanks, Griffin. We’ll talk soon!”
With that, Gerri hung up. A moment later, his phone dinged, announcing the coordinates of this unknown woman’s location. Luckily for him, they were only an hour and a half away.
He placed his phone on the nightstand, fluffed a pillow, and laid back. But sleep eluded him. He couldn’t shake the feeling that things were about to change. His wolf was restless.
“What do you think this means?” he asked out loud.
He felt his wolf cocking his head, turning an ear in the direction of his voice.
I don’t know, Griffin. But can’t you feel it? There is something big playing out here. I am eager to meet this woman and her two children. I think, also, it’ll be good for you. I’ve respected your wishes, including walking away from your birthright as alpha and taking a position as a bodyguard, but we’re meant for more.
Griffin’s skin itched with his wolf’s desire.
“We only need to keep them safe until Carl is back,” Griffin muttered.
His wolf snorted. We’ll see.

The timid librarian gets a fantasy of her own when she meets the sexy dragon king.
Chloe Hoffman thought she was going out for a night on the town with her closest friends, but ends up being dragged out to a mysterious shifter party in the woods. When a sexy man follows her into the library, she’s caught up in an unexpected fling. The big, handsome dragon shifter is working hard to seduce her and she’s having a hard time not giving in.
Adrian Dracos has made a lifetime goal to avoid meeting his mate. As a dragon shifter, he outlives nearly everyone, and he doesn’t want to open himself up to heartbreak. When a lovely human activates his mate sense all hell breaks loose. Chloe is kind, sweet and beautiful. He can’t stand to think about living a single moment without her.
Convincing the cautious human to give love with a shifter a chance is not so simple. Their love reveals a weakness to his centuries-old enemy. If Adrian gets Chloe, her life will be on the line. One of them will be destroyed by their romance. Is the chance at love worth risking everything for?
Read a Sneak PeekCHLOE
“You know,” Adrian said, eyes half-lidded. “You don’t look like you belong here.”
Chloe tried to comprehend how she’d ended up in this situation, sitting on a couch beside the most handsome man she’d seen in her life. She and her friends had gone to the bar as planned but ended up overhearing about a shifter party. Curious, her friends had convinced her to sneak in despite Chloe’s serious reservations.
Every hair on Chloe’s body stood straight up. Her breath hitched in her throat, sweat beading on the back of her neck.
If she ended up being the reason her friends got kicked out, they’d never let her live it down. And who knows how rich shifters would react to party crashers in their midst? Would they call the cops on them? Did shifters even use the police, or did they settle things more … savagely?
“I don’t know what you mean,” Chloe stammered. “We had that key and everything, so I definitely belong here.” She didn’t add that Fiona had found the key to get into the party on the floor of the bar, where some guests had dropped it, or that they definitely had not been on the invite list.
She could still hear the thumping on the walls and the moans from the other room. Somehow, she had found herself crashing some kind of rich shifter sex party filled with fountains of real champagne and canapes that probably cost as much as her annual salary.
And it all started because she and her friends decided to go to a bar for Alexis’s birthday. And that had somehow, inexplicably, led them here. For once, her life was like a novel, and she was truthfully a bit terrified.
She wanted nothing more than to sit down with a good book, but now she imagined how she’d look in her mugshot once this unreadable man turned her in with her friends. They’d be completely caught off-guard, having split off from her to entertain men of their own. Unlike Chloe, they had probably already sealed the deal.
The man … Adrian Dracos, as he had identified himself, just stared at her, a wry smile across his face.
Chloe was surprised when he chuckled. It was not malicious.
He sat back against the cushion and tilted his head knowingly.
“Really? You’re holed up here in the library by yourself, actually reading on the wildest night of the month,” he asked. “Come on, you couldn’t be more obvious.”
Chloe gripped the hem of her skirt, feeling like she just made the biggest mistake of her life.
“Okay. Okay, fine, yes, my friends dragged me here. They’re the party girls. I’m just along for the ride,” she said. “As usual,” she added, a little quieter to herself.
Adrian moved closer, scooting across the couch until the two of them were nearly touching. Then he leaned down, pushed his nose against the side of her neck, and took a very long inhale.
Chloe froze, every muscle stiffening as she tried to figure out what was happening.
Being sniffed by a handsome man at a masquerade was certainly not on her bingo card for the year, yet here she was. She was sure everyone here was a shifter except for her and her friends, of course. She wondered what kind of shifter he was, but she wasn’t sure it mattered. None of the animals that jumped to mind weren’t anything less than frightening.
“You’re a human,” he said matter-of-factly.
She questioned how she should respond and wondered if this might be a trap. There was no hint of anger or resentment in his eyes.
So she nodded, hoping he wasn’t going to tear her apart.
“How strange,” he mused. “Why would your shifter friends bring a human to this of all parties? You stand out like a nun in a whorehouse.”
Chloe blushed, not sure how to take his statement. Normally, she’d at least feel driven to defend her friends. But that night, even she was feeling apt to agree with him. She wouldn’t be correcting his assumptions about them being shifters. Not yet, at least, if it meant her friends could keep having their fun.
And maybe they’d return the favor and not bother her.
Chloe shrugged in response. She still had no idea what hunter’s block was nor how to answer his question.
That seemed to satisfy him as he leaned back slightly with a small smile. But Chloe could tell by the way his eyes lingered across her body that Adrian was far from done questioning her.
“So, is there a reason you’re so at home with all these books?”
She nodded.
“Actually, I’m a librarian,” Chloe replied, excited at the prospect of getting to explain her job.
“Fascinating. And how does one become a librarian?” he asked. “Do you simply collect enough books over time?”
Chloe let out a short laugh, wishing that were the case.
“Try four years of studying library science, a lengthy internship, and one of the most cutthroat industries to get a decent job in.”
“Really? I had no idea.”
Adrian leaned his head in his hand, resting the elbow on the back of the couch. He was so close that Chloe could take in what she assumed to be his cologne. Musky, like a campfire, but somehow also wrapped in velvet.
“All that work to stack books?”
Chloe rolled her eyes. That was a common misconception about her career, and she was used to it by now. But just as she opened her mouth to correct it, another man stepped into the library’s door, temporarily making the sexual commotion outside more audible.
She snapped to attention, trying hard not to look suspicious. The well-dressed man seemed to look right through her as he walked farther into the room and began attending to the fire there.
“Hello, Dan,” Adrian said. He looked Chloe over and shook his head slightly. “Dan works for Callum, the man who hosts this party.”
Then he leaned down close again and whispered. “Alpha wolf.”
Chloe shivered, not just from Adrian’s proximity but the realization that she was truly surrounded by shifters here.
“May I bring anything for you and your guest, Mr. Dracos?” Dan asked, picking up the book Chloe had grabbed and placing it back exactly where it came from. She wondered if the owner, Callum, had his own classification system for his books.
“Some of that wine, if you don’t mind. Not the bubbly kind, something red,” Adrian said nonchalantly.
“Shall I fetch a bottle of it, sir?” Dan asked.
“That would be wonderful, and some food, thank you. Whatever pairs well. I believe there was some beef tartare on the buffet?”
“Very good, sir.” Dan turned on his heel and showed himself out.
Chloe released a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. She didn’t need to be so anxious if Adrian was treating her like any other party guest. Her chances of being kicked out had surely dropped by now.
She relaxed and found herself simply chatting with the man like they were at any normal party. The wine was tart with a beautiful balance of sweetness. And the food was plentiful. Dan kept coming to check on them, offering to refill their glasses or retrieve some petit fours from the kitchen.
It wasn’t until Dan’s fourth visit that Chloe realized how close Adrian was. Their knees were touching, his arm draped languidly across her shoulders. It happened so casually, so easily, that the moment of contact simply didn’t register with her.
Her pulse picked up. She wasn’t this kind of girl. Firstly, she did not sleep with someone on the first date. That was a hard rule for her. And secondly, she most certainly never hooked up with a stranger at a party.
Even so, as Adrian’s eyes locked with hers, she felt a pull she couldn’t describe. It wasn’t the wine. She’d certainly been drunker than this before. Maybe it was the warmth of the fire, the lingering taste of cherries and chocolate on her tongue, or the way Adrian’s eyes seemed to reflect the dancing flames.
Whatever it was, when Adrian leaned his face toward her, she met him halfway.
Sparks erupted like she’d only read about. She didn’t know they were real.
Chloe leaned harder into the kiss, balancing herself with her palms on his chest.
He didn’t break their contact, which she took as an invitation to carry on…

Whitney Urban worked a little too hard this year and forgot to plan a summer vacation. That’s okay because Gerri Wilder offers her a free two-week trip to Nova Aurora. A planet full of alien scenery, different foods, and sexy shifters… who would pass that up? Not Whitney, that’s for sure. And she also won’t pass up a little fun with the hottest dragon she’d ever seen: Thyone.
Thyone is the military leader of Nova Auora’s Zehvrd dragon territory. He’s concerned with the increased number of his people protesting the arrival of more and more Earthlings on their planet. He’s not sure how he’s going to handle things, until he meets his fated mate and realizes that he’d do anything to protect the curvy and beautiful woman, and keep Whitney by his side forever.
With Whitney’s help, Thyone will realize that new ways might be the solution for old problems. But what will he do when he’s faced with the difficult situation of choosing between duty and love?
