Professor Dr. Anastasios Myrodis Tamis is an internationally acclaimed authority on Greek sociolinguistics and the history of the Greek Diaspora. He arrived in Australia in 1971 and has published extensively on Hellenic migration, language contact, and identity. He has served as Head of the Department of Hellenic Studies, inaugural Director of the National Centre for Hellenic Studies and Research, and founding President of the Australian Institute for Macedonian Studies. Under his leadership, major archival and research institutions were established. He has authored 19 monographs and over 120 scholarly works, including The Greeks in Australia (2005) and Greeks in the Far Orient (2011).
