What Can We Do?  - Charles Bukowski

I suspect this question gets tossed around quite a bit these days; and if it is not tossed around publicly, then it is likely embedded in the hearts and minds of many.

What can we do?

Readers of this blog already know my answer to this question.

Nevertheless, having decided upon an answer - my answer - does not preclude me from considering the answers of others.

Charles Bukowski's answer is a remarkably bleak one; nonetheless, it contains a few, faint nuggets of hope, particularly toward the end.

Bukowski was a self-professed atheist, but his insights into life were occasionally more Christian than the insights most self-professed Christians broadcast.

Note: I apologize in advance for the awful background music in this clip; unfortunately, this was the only recording I could find for this 'poem.'  What Can We Do?

at their best, there is gentleness in Humanity.
some understanding and, at times, acts of
courage
but all in all it is a mass, a glob that doesn't
have too much.
it is like a large animal deep in sleep and
almost nothing can awaken it.
when activated it's best at brutality,
selfishness, unjust judgments, murder.

what can we do with it, this Humanity?

nothing.

avoid the thing as much as possible.
treat it as you would anything poisonous, vicious
and mindless.
but be careful. it has enacted laws to protect
itself from you.
it can kill you without cause.
and to escape it you must be subtle.
few escape.

it's up to you to figure a plan.

I have met nobody who has escaped.

I have met some of the great and
famous but they have not escaped
for they are only great and famous within
Humanity.

I have not escaped
but I have not failed in trying again and
again.

before my death I hope to obtain my
life.

Revisiting The Triumph of the Genius of Destruction

Picture I first jotted down some thoughts about this Mihály Zichy painting here. Since then, I have come to a deeper understanding as well as a deeper appreciation of what Zichy depicted in this virtuoso piece.

To begin with, I value Zichy's comprehension that the forces fomenting and fanning the flames of destruction are fundamentally spiritual in nature. Zichy chose to depict these forces in the form of two demonic figures, male and female, hovering over a river of carnage. Notice the manner in which both figures orchestrate the slaughter they have instigated, particularly the female demon, who actively demonstrates her possession of the human figure beneath her through the placement and form of her outstretched hand.

The humans embroiled in the massacre in the bottom half of the painting represent the various warring factions from the nineteenth century. Replacing these with the various warring factions of our contemporary world would not diminish the painting in the slightest. If anything, it would serve to highlight an eternal truth Zichy captured here concerning the true source and motivation of destruction.

I mention this because our own time and place - the here and now - is devolving into a time and place of destruction; a time and place where the genius of destruction might very well triumph, at least in the short term. And why might it triumph? Because the creation needed to counteract it and neutralize it has become scant and insufficient. As in Zichy's painting, we moderns cannot (and should not) expect any guidance or support from churches, government, or other organizations which, like the religious and political figures Zichy depicts in his composition, have nearly all become willingly complicit in the destruction the demons have spawned. When it comes to facing the genius of destruction, we are all pretty much on our own.

As is the case with our current situation, Zichy's vision is a bleak one and appears to offer little in the way of comfort and hope. But the faint figure with outstretched arms standing within the framed doorway of light on the left side of the canvas serves to remind us of the purely temporal nature of destruction's triumph, and of the glorious victory not even the genius of destruction can annihilate.

The Beauty and Artistry of Creation - S.K. Orr

Over at his superb Steeple Tea blog, S.K. Orr - one of the best writers on the internet - takes a moment to reflect upon "the beauty and artistry" of creation.

The work day was hard and bitter, full of the little landmines I navigate every day. But when I rose through the mountain pass and reached the twisting lane of crushed gray rock and finally passed beneath the arch of trees lining the driveway and saw that spotted dog with the ridiculous ears and the diamond-shaped mark on his forehead leaping to greet me…when I thought of kissing my wife and hearing her soft Texas accent in my ear…when I thought of sitting in my chair and drinking in the sounds of my own home…the harsh things of the work day faded into the kind of remote memory that I will not retrieve if I have any say in the matter.

The world and its system is dirty and cruel, relentless in its probing and invasion and corruption and infection. But the world that was created by miraculous love and artistry is still here, and available to me if I squelch the vileness and choose to see the beauty and the good. It’s very tiring to do this day after day, and some days I am too weak or too distracted, and the bad stuff flows over me like the tidal waves that batter and bash surfers.
But the beauty is there. I try hold onto this. I look and I watch and I hold on. And I count. I count rabbits and blessings.

The Fundamental Human Right To Damnation

It's odd to speak of fundamental human rights so soon after the height of the birdemic panic lockdown - an unprecedented event that succeeded in denying even the most basic and simple of human rights to the vast majority of human beings around the world.

What's even more odd is the same powers that forced and continues to force ordinary citizens to wear masks and maintain two-meter distances now vigorously endorse violent mass protests, statue toppling, looting, and other subversive and anarchistic activities as being exempt from social distancing and lockdown measures for the simple reason that protests, monument destruction, looting, and rioting all constitute fundamental human rights that simply cannot be impinged upon, birdemic be damned.

In a sane world, the depths of such hypocrisy would not only be energetically challenged, but also vehemently opposed. In a sane world, this sort of thing would be recognized as evil and would trigger a completely justifiable and righteous reaction, one that would eventually lead to the toppling of the powers that had enforced such evil upon the trusting and unsuspecting masses. The problem is, this is not a sane world - it is an insane world, brimming with insane people who have willingly allowed themselves to become as deeply corrupted as the deeply corrupted System ruling over them.

As the example above demonstrates, our ruling elites have an extremely clear agenda when it comes to fundamental human rights. The formula is acutely simple and straightforward: anything and everything opposing Divine Will and Divine Creation qualifies as a fundamental human right. Everything within the realms of human belief, thought, and action aligning with God's Will and Creation is condemned as bigoted, deplorable, and evil.

Thus, the fundamental rights our ruling global elites celebrate, impose, and defend are intrinsically fundamental wrongs. The Establishment has used and will continue to use fundamental human rights as a battering ram against Truth, Beauty, and Virtue, and it will not stop - not even in the midst of the current purposive unravelling of its own System - until it succeeds in convincing practically everyone that lies are truths, ugliness is beauty, vice is virtue, and evil is good.

Why? The purpose is as straightforward and simple as the rights agenda - soul damnation. Each person who willingly and unrepentantly rejects the biological reality of sex in favor of the trans ideology represents a damned soul. Each person who willingly and unrepentantly genuflects before radical, anti-religious leftist movements represents a damned a soul. Each person who willingly and unrepentantly chooses comfort or expediency over truth - regardless of the hardship and suffering such a choice assuages - is a damned soul. Each person who cowers in fear, who allows himself or herself to be knowingly manipulated for evil ends, or who surrenders to despair is a damned soul.

The only fundamental human right the Establishment guarantees is the fundamental right to soul damnation. It may strike many as strange to refer to damnation as a fundamental right, but it actually is a fundamental right of sorts. Humans are free agents, and as such we each possess the power and the freedom - or the right, as it were - to choose. That moment of choice is beyond God's control. It's a murky, amorphous no-man's land, that moment of choice. In that moment of ultimate freedom, we exercise our most fundamental human right - the active and willing choice between good and evil; between Reality and Unreality; between that which aligns with God and that which is directly opposed to God.

Though this may strike some as blasphemous, I posit that in the moment of choice we  temporarily possess more power than God. At that moment, we may continue to experience God's influence, but we are ultimately beyond God's control. Such is the nature of a personal, loving God. Anyone who understands this, understands why Creation is so central to Christianity, and why all Christians should strive to be active, co-creators - should strive for not only salvation, but also theosis. The demons controlling our ruling elites are well aware of our true fundamental human right, and they have worked and will continue to work ceaselessly to invert this right into a wrong for the purpose of damnation.

Fundamental human rights will form the core of the systemic reset the Establishment and its demonic overlords strive for as they continue to purposefully foment the chaos currently cratering the System. The more the System craters, the more the fundamental human right to human damnation will be pushed and imposed.

These rights (wrongs) must be resisted, rejected, and renounced - and if Christians find themselves in a situation where they cannot resist, or reject, or renounce, then they must repent, and they must repent hard. Any Christian that willingly and enthusiastically embraces any fundamental human right the Establishment pedals without - at the very least - acknowledging and then repenting this right as a wrong - will exercise his or her fundamental human right to choose damnation over Heaven.

Dignity And That Which Is Beneath It

It is becoming increasingly difficult to comment on current events. There is plenty to discuss, but I find so much of it to be beneath my dignity.

Yes, that's right - Beneath. My. Dignity.

Sure, it is crucial to reflect and to judge, and I suppose there might be value in communicating and sharing these reflections and judgments with others, but I find the vast bulk of current events to be utterly revolting, maddeningly repugnant, and  disgustingly malevolent - to the point that I often struggle to find the inspiration to comment upon them.

Nefarious. Destructive. Harmful. Damnable. Vile. Revolting. Ugly.

There aren't enough negative adjectives in the English language to fully describe the maleficence gripping the world. And in all honesty, I don't feel much of it really needs to be described or delineated. It's all right there, unhidden - laid bare in naked blatancy.

It is one thing to take note of it all privately; quite another to make note of it all publicly. So much of what we encounter serves no higher purpose than to contaminate and toxify. Sure, I have the antidote, but that does not imply I must always ingest the poison.

Not always. Certainly not today.

Today I am going to forget about all narratives and concentrate on God's. I am going to pick the ripe raspberries in the yard, and I will listen to the cuckoos calling in the distant trees, and deep within I will focus on the source of all dignity; on the grandeur and the greatness made personal through Divine Love.

István Réti - Master of Interior Light

If László Medynánszky (1852-1919) is the master of exterior light in Hungarian painting, then István Réti (1872-1945) is surely the Hungarian master of interior light.

Founder of the famous Nagybánya Artists Colony and later a revered professor at The University of Fine Arts in Budapest, Réti's first phase as a painter focused on the quality of light found in interiors - specifically lamps and sunlight streaming in through windows. I am particularly drawn to his depictions of lamps at night - the perfection with which he captured that soft, warm glow that is at once welcoming and comforting yet somewhat melancholic.   Picture Interior Picture Bohemians' Christmas Eve Picture Man Reading

Anti-Civil Society Organizations

I suspect most people consider non-governmental organizations (NGOS) to be benevolent entities that occupy the so-called third sector of society between government and business. I also suspect most people believe NGOS work primarily to advance the concerns of ordinary citizens, chiefly in the realm of civil liberties and personal freedoms. Though I find it highly unlikely, it is possible that a few such benevolently-oriented organizations continue to exist; but as far as I can tell, most so-called civil society organizations are merely tentacles of the Global Establishment; as such, they do little more than actively and purposively work against the concerns of ordinary citizens.

That the Establishment employs its various NGOS in countries around the world to sow destabilization, dissolve social cohesion, and tear away at the social fabric of all countries should come as a surprise to no one, yet the vast majority of people appear completely oblivious to the chaos and malevolence civil society organizations help stoke in nations all over the world. One need look no further than the actors fanning the current bouts of protests, rioting, and insurgency to comprehend the tremendous power and influence non-governmental organizations can wield, especially when they are openly supported the media and by nearly all factions within government and business, the other two supposed sectors that make up the unholy triangle known as modern society.

If you think what I have stated above is hyperbolic, consider this list of players within the business sector that have all openly and unabashedly rushed to support the currently dominant NGO fomenting the vast majority of civil unrest around the world. To me, this only serves as further proof of the successful totalitarian coup the Establishment easily pulled off during the depths of the lockdown freeze. Though the Establishment dominated all three sectors of society (the System) in the West before the birdemic, it used the birdemic to secure critical control of all three sectors and is now using and will continue to use the full force of its third sector - civil society - to distract and divide people and destroy civilization (cities, regions, nations, economies, social cohesion, stability) in order to make room for a much-coveted Fourth Industrial Revolution/Great Reset anti-society (which will likely fail to manifest due to the sheer destruction currently unfolding around the globe).

The current definition of civil society is actually an inversion of the original meaning of the term, which was meant to denote the will of the people within the private sphere (which, ironically enough, was itself an inversion of the primary level of society, namely the family and country based on Divine Will). In other words, civil society is meant to be a bulwark against the threat of possible corruption and aggression from the other two sectors that make up society, namely government and business. The vast majority of civil society organizations operating today do the exact opposite - they advance the corruption and aggression of the Establishment via government and business against the will of the people.

Of course, the last sentence in the paragraph above is not entirely correct for most people in the West who willingly and enthusiastically welcome and advocate for corruption and aggression as means for progress, even it blatantly goes against their own self interest. Appropriately enough, the only civil society that remains viable for Christians under such conditions is family, close, trusted friends, and, perhaps, small groups linked by common interests, more specifically a common interest and belief in serious Christianity and the promise of Christ.

Note added: The vast majority of active civil society organizations fit comfortably within what Dr. Bruce Charlton has lucidly defined as the Cult of Lying Evil

Bountiful Late Spring/Early Summer Fruits

Picture Our raspberry bushes are literally dripping with fruit this season. It appears the warm dry spring provided nothing but benefits for this particular fruit. Same goes for the cherry and sour cherry trees in the village, which are overladen and ready to harvest. We don't have any cherry trees on our property, but the village I live in is full of them.

Some of my neighbors put ladders out beneath their cherry or sour cherry trees together with a sign encouraging passersby to help themselves to all the fruit they can pick. I may go out to one of those trees tomorrow. After all, one can never have too many cherries - or raspberries for that matter. The cherries in the photo below are courtesy of one of my wife's co-workers.

A good start to the summer, all things considered.   Picture

The Great Reset: The Prime Objective of The Successful Global Totalitarian Coup

I've read quite a few articles and blog posts recently all warning of a possible regime change in the near future. What the writers of these articles and blog posts fail to understand is that the regime change has already happened; what we are seeing now - what most interpret as agitation toward regime change - is actually the rapid implementation of the newly-fortified global regime.

In other words, the coup d-état so many are intent on warning us about is already behind us. In my estimation, it happened sometime between March and April when  the world was frozen by the global lockdown. What is happening now is not an attempt to seize power, but rather the application of new powers already seized. And what is the overarching objective? Well, it appears be something ominously called "The Great Reset."

Coincidentally enough, the World Economic Forum, one of the many fronts of the Global Establishment, began pushing The Great Reset initiative immediately after the birdemic hysteria it helped foment began to wane. From the WEF's own site

THE CONTEXT

The Covid-19 crisis, and the political, economic and social disruptions it has caused, is fundamentally changing the traditional context for decision-making. The inconsistencies, inadequacies and contradictions of multiple systems – from health and financial to energy and education – are more exposed than ever amidst a global context of concern for lives, livelihoods and the planet. Leaders find themselves at a historic crossroads, managing short-term pressures against medium- and long-term uncertainties.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As we enter a unique window of opportunity to shape the recovery, this initiative will offer insights to help inform all those determining the future state of global relations, the direction of national economies, the priorities of societies, the nature of business models and the management of a global commons. Drawing from the vision and vast expertise of the leaders engaged across the Forum’s communities, the Great Reset initiative has a set of dimensions to build a new social contract that honours the dignity of every human being.

I won't say anymore about it, but will instead leave links below for three videos the WEF features on its own YouTube channel.

The videos feature key Establishment mouthpieces who provide clear insights into what sort of future the Establishment has in mind for the world. The first is just a visual introduction, while the second presents highlights from the third video, which is a one-and-a-half hour detailed presentation of what The Great Reset comprises. I imagine most readers will understandably skip the last video, but I urge everyone to at least have a look at the first and second. Those who have eyes that see and ears that hear and possess minds that refuse to live by lies will quickly recognize the agenda behind the concerned, altruistic tone and the buzzword-laden, utilitarian rhetoric.

In my own personal and utterly unqualified opinion, I believe the Establishment will hold off on its Great Reset plans until after the world economy collapses, which may happen as early as this autumn. By that point, I suspect the mostly manufactured social unrest we are currently being subjected to will have reached fever pitch. People will become desperate for solutions - and the Establishment will be there waiting for them, solutions ready in hand.

Having written the above speculation, I personally don't believe the Establishment's Great Reset plans will ever manifest in reality. Not because people will resist the plan's implementation (they certainly aren't doing so now!), but rather because the Establishment will find itself in circumstances that will become much larger and far more chaotic than it had bargained for (demons have a way of throwing their servants into deep water). The Establishment will likely lose control of the storm it has unleashed and eventually fall victim to its own attempt to 'reset' the world.

In the meantime, let's enjoy some encouraging and uplifting visions courtesy of our new overlords!

My Big Toe Is Connected To All My Other Physical Maladies

Last summer I suffered an incredibly painful sacroiliac joint injury on the right side of my hip. Well, it turns the big toe on my left foot might be the source of that injury as well many of the other aches and pains I have had to endure for the last two or three years.

Though I have not received an official diagnosis yet, I am fairly certain I have hallux rigidus. The disorder affects the joint located at the base of the toe and, over time, causes the joint to stiffen, making it increasingly difficult to bend. It may not seem like a big deal, but my stiff toe altered my gait. To take the pressure off my left toe, I unconsciously allow my left foot to supinate and roll outwards. This in turn puts tremendous pressure on the right side of my hip, which led to the injury I mentioned above.

Apparently, hallux rigidus is a progressive condition that does not respond much to conservative treatment methods. Regardless, I am going to see a specialist tomorrow to determine if anything other than surgery might remedy the disorder. I am all for regaining full mobility in my foot, but I am not enthusiastic about the idea of going under the knife, not even for something minor like this.

But in the end, it's not minor at all. In fact, it's rather amazing how something so seemingly trivial can so negatively affect the rest of the body. I think that speaks volumes for systems in general. The malfunctioning of one small, apparently insignificant part can wreak havoc on the system as whole, especially over time.

Now imagine how a system might be affected by many small parts malfunctioning simultaneously, or many small parts and a few larger parts going on the fritz at approximately the same time. After a while I assume the system would become overwhelmed and unable to cope.

Something to think about.
