teaser5   Excerpt  "You are a handful. I should have known that's why Henry walked right on by without so much as a second glance. For a brother that likes gems, he must have known the trouble one would cause." Aria sneered at James. "Tell me you don't believe it." Emeralds, people with green eyes, are known to be power and money hungry. Does James think that about her? It's not true. No part of the belief system created to destroy the world in genocide was true. How could James think of her like that? She may not be easy or pleasant at times, but she wasn't what the enemy said. James shifted in his seat. "Of course not, but you are trouble. I can see it in you, the rebellious streak. My father will beat it out of you." "So what? I'm supposed to pretend it doesn't bother me that he ordered the execution of my mother and dragged me from my home, drugged me, stripped me naked, and stole my freedom? No part of what you and your father are doing is okay." James grimaced. "I am sorry about your mother. I can't change our world, but I can protect you here."        Four Questions with the Author  The Gem Apocalypse series has quite a bit to do with eye color, what color eyes do you have? Mine are green. I guess you could say authors always find ways to pull elements of themselves or real life into their stories.   Speaking of real life elements, do you use any true stories in your fiction? Fiction is that for a reason. My life wouldn't make a great book (at least not a romance novel). With that being said, Dating Wars (Federal Agent Chronicles Book 2) does delve a little into some real dating horror stories that I've experienced. A few are true, some are fictitious. I'll let you be the judge.   First dystopian novel you read and fell in love with? In college I read The Handmaid's Tale for a Sociology class. I loved the novel and quite honestly it was probably the first book I ever read for school that I went back to read other works by that author. At the time I read it, I thought it more science fiction (and it is). I had no idea there was a category called Dystopian fiction.   Will we get to see more of the other brothers, especially those that have a little less book time? I would love to do that! The plan is to do a spin-off series featuring Aaron and maybe some time with Henry too, along with more of the courtesans.   teaser3 - Emerald Virgin     Ravyn RayneAbout the Author  Ravyn is a sassy, fun-loving, and adventure-seeking young woman. Excerpt

There was silence. Then the familiar sensation of her stomach being dragged down, right down to her standard issue black shoes. G force. It was the same every time.

Flicking off the autopilot and taking control of the 747, Bobbi gripped the throttle in her right hand, fearlessly pushing it forward. Slow and even. The plane bounced and shook in the wake turbulence of a passing 767. The muffled sounds of passengers’ outbursts at the sudden drop mingled with the clatter and clang of the galley carts that Bobbi damn well hoped were secured as she’d ordered.

They had to head to higher airspace. Now.

Bobbi knew better than to heed the shrill rapid warnings echoing throughout the cockpit to urgently trim to turbulence penetration airspeed.

Scott, her first officer, nodded as they increased power and held the jet seemingly against its will. Dozens of lights flashed. Air traffic control rattled off a series of confirmations when she pressed the plane higher, the metal creaking as she forced nearly a million pounds of steel and its occupants upward.

Pushing the throttle hard, Bobbi knew smooth air was only a few moments away. Under her guidance, the plane jostled and battled its way through the rough air. A sudden bump, followed by another, then the resulting loud gasp from the passengers.

Holding firm at her command, they broke through the rough air into an eerie smoothness as they glided seemingly effortlessly into calmer airspace.

Bobbi exhaled, only now aware she’d been holding her breath. Turbulence was an everyday occurrence for a seasoned pilot like herself, but this had caught her off guard. A heady mix of bad weather and the wake turbulence of the other aircraft had left her reeling when she tried to steady the 747 inbound for Heathrow.

Scott turned away to double-check some details with the flight engineer seated behind him. Bobbi wiped a trickle of sweat from her brow when he wasn’t looking. As captain of the immense beast, Bobbi couldn’t let her fellow officers—or any crew for that matter—see her sweat under pressure. And that was becoming more of an issue, since hot flashes were now often brought on not by an adrenaline rush from flying but by Mother Nature.

Bobbi Cooper couldn’t believe she would be fifty-eight next year. Where had the time gone?

She knew damn well where it had gone. First a stepping-stone career in the Air Force and then thirty years flying commercial. Enough to establish her as one of the highest-ranking woman pilots in the country as a 747 captain for Atlantica airlines.

“Perfect,” Bobbi said, switching back to autopilot and settling the aircraft into the calmer and higher altitude.

Scott did as she ordered and tinkered with the gauges, she watched. Once she was sure all was under control, Bobbi unbuckled her shoulder harness and rose from her seat, reassured all was secure.

“Keep her on route—I’m stepping back for a moment. You two got it?” she asked, standing behind her first officer Scott and her flight engineer Neville, the new recruit fresh from a small regional airline.

“Sure, Bob, we got it,” Scott said casually, calling her by the familiar cockpit nickname. “Have them send up some coffee while you’re back there.”

Bobbi buzzed for the flight attendant to open the cockpit door. Standard procedure after 9/11. Bobbi peered out through the peephole. It was Sandy, the flight attendant with a penchant for displaying her ample cleavage by wearing her uniform extra tight, so it hugged all her curves. But it wasn’t only her inappropriate dress that annoyed Bobbi. It was the fact she’d also had fucked Bobbi’s husband.

But then again, who hasn’t?

After divorce and company paid-for counseling, Bobbi had come to the realization, and then acceptance, that Sandy was just one on a long list of Greg’s conquests. She did her best not to hold a grudge, but that was a constant challenge, as she ran into Sandy more than she would have liked. Once a century was about what Bobbi could tolerate, although it had been cleared by corporate that they were fine to work together. And they were. Bobbi was a professional. Through and through. She’d fought tooth and nail for her job, and with three and a half years until retirement, with the promise of a cushy pension waiting for her, which she’d only have to marginally share with Greg according to the settlement, there was no way she was going to let Sandy or any of the others put her off her game.

“How’d everyone do?” Bobbi asked Sandy with her cool, composed captain’s demeanor. It was the one piece of her dignity she’d salvaged among the women flight attendants, a good majority of whom had been treated to Greg’s lustful attentions.

Sandy motioned with her head back toward the passenger area. “Fine,” she reported. “Chucker in aisle sixteen and a few more farther back, but they should be fine now.”

Chuckers. That was what they called the passengers who couldn’t hang on to lunch during a bumpy flight. Today had been a doozy, and it wasn’t over yet.

Bobbi noticed with subtle irritation that Sandy’s blouse strained against her perky breasts as she efficiently flicked the switch on the coffee machine. Her bosom jiggled while she scooped ice into a plastic cup and pulled a can of tomato juice out of the galley cart. Shit. Greg really hadn’t had a chance. Big brown doe eyes and a body that wouldn’t quit. The sexy flight attendant was everything Bobbi wasn’t. Not that it mattered now. Greg was on to new, greener pastures. Her ex was consistent she scoffed —his conquests all had one, no make that two things in common— big knockers and tiny, round asses. Men were shit, really. Why she had let herself be demeaned and embarrassed by his bad behavior for as long as she had, she’d never know.

C’est le vie, Bobbi coached herself as she smiled her most innocuous smile at Sandy.

“Plan for a bumpy ride in to Heathrow—there’ll be some more weather ahead,” Bobbi warned her. “Might need more bags.”

“Sure thing, Captain,” Sandy said as she snapped open the lid on the can, poured the tomato juice over ice and handed it to Bobbi.

Bobbi nodded her appreciation and gulped down her customary in-flight refreshment. “I’m going back for a few minutes,” she said, handing the empty cup back to Sandy before pulling back the curtain to first class. “And send some coffee in for Scott and Neville before we head down, please.”

Entering the first-class cabin on her way to the pilot’s rest area located between first class and business, Bobbi scanned the spacious cabin. Most of her passengers were now contentedly dozing, oblivious to the formidable battle she’d been waging in the cockpit to keep them in precariously calm airspace. But that was her job—to deliver five hundred souls safely to London.

Sunlight illuminated the plush first-class cabin through a few half-drawn window shades, but not quite to enough to keep the blinding sun from searing into her eyes. Squinting, she walked down the aisle, passing by the first row.

A collective gasp came from the passengers when the plane hit another deep air pocket. Bobbi reached out to steady herself, placing her hand on the headrest of the second row seat for a brief second, smiling reassuringly at the surrounding passengers. She was their pilot, after all.

The passenger in the nearest seat looked up at her.

Bobbi smiled down, then did a double take.

“Bobbi?” the male passenger asked, looking up at her. “Bobbi…Bobbi Cooper?”

“Yes,” Bobbi said, instantly recognizing his features. Her mind was spinning. Those dark-blue eyes. And that unmistakable voice. Velvety and thick. The way scotch felt when it slid down her throat. She’d know that voice and that face anywhere. Even if it had been forever.

It was Mack.

Author Interview

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I can’t remember a time I didn’t want to be a writer.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

Well, pretty much when I started writing my first full-length novel. Now I wasn’t a published author yet but I was so dedicated to completing it that I started saying to people that I was a writer because I spent so much time doing it. J

How long did it take to get your first book published?

About six to seven years I think…

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

I used to be a wedding planner. Talk about romantic. Piles of stories in the vault from that experience.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

Cockpit. The name says it all. Lol. No really. Okay how about this: Hold on as Bobbi and Mack throttle up.

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

I have several publishers. Totally Bound, Ellora’s Cave and Red Sage.

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

Depends on the book. Novellas take a few months for me, full length fiction can take 6-12 months.

What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

More smokin’ hot romance! Already have a Vixen in Venice coming out this month as well as upcoming Bimini Bound and Bottoms Up.

What genre would you place your books into?

Erotic romance as there are no closed bedroom doors J Not that most characters even make it to the bedroom anyway. They like to use the whole house.

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I love a racy read so I like to write them. Writing sex scenes is fun, challenging and gives the book a depth of character and scene I don’t think is possible without. There is an extreme and intense intimacy in erotic romance.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

I read all the reviews.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

A mix of both. Cockpit was a case of the title coming first.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?

They just pop into my head. A character’s name will just ‘feel’ right, same goes for setting. It’s intuitive I think.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

Torn between ebook and paperback. I do so love the feel of a papeback but then

What is your favorite book and Why? Have you read it more than once?

There are a few I’ve read more than once they were so good. One is the Principal’s Office by Jasmine Haynes and the other is Insatiable by Opal Carew.

Your favorite food is?

Chocolate. Seriously.

Your favorite singer/group is?

Fleetwood Mac.

Your favorite color is?

Gold

Cover Reveal–Beloved Enemy by Hywela Lyn @Hywela_Lyn

Cover Reveal Banner BOOK INFORMATION TITLE – Beloved Enemy SERIES – The Destiny Trilogy AUTHOR – Hywela Lyn GENRE – Science Fiction Romance PUBLISHER – The Wild Rose Press COVER ARTIST – Rae Monet REVISED COVER BOOK SYNOPSIS Cat Kincaid is obsessed with killing the man she believes is responsible for the torture and death of her sister, but when she eventually catches up with him, survival becomes a greater priority than revenge. Kerry Marchant, haunted by memories, regret and self-blame, shields himself from the pain of the past by committing himself totally to the starship, Destiny, of which he is part owner. However, the beautiful, red haired woman who reminds him of his lost love, and who he suspects is working for a corrupt regime, represents a possible threat not only to the ship, but to his heart. Marooned on an inhospitable planet, they need to work together to stay alive, fighting not only unknown assailants, but their growing attraction. But how can they learn to trust each other when he has vowed never to get close to a woman again, and she made a solemn pledge to destroy him? EXCERPT (Unedited)
Before she could fire, Kerry let off another barrage of plasma bolts into the river, then leapt toward her and ripped the severed tentacle from her leg. It flapped around on the wet grass. She scrambled to her knees, still slightly winded and fired at the hideous thing. The foliage around it flared for a moment with an eerie green flame and the tentacle shrivelled into a slimy black mass, emitting a pungent odour and causing her to gag for a moment.
“It seems I was mistaken about the creature being dead.” Kerry prodded the smouldering mass with his boot and looked across over the water. “It is now.” He leaned down and grasped her wrist to haul her to her feet. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I don’t think so.” Her shoulder was sore and probably bruised but she’d live. She tried to control her shivering. The incident affected her more than she wanted to admit. Kerry’s proximity, naked to the waist, his lithe body shining from the water droplets that still clung to his skin, his legs swathed in tight black leather, did nothing to help. The last thing she wanted was for him to realise how scared she’d been when she thought a snake attacked her. “Thanks. That was close. It would have been a bit ironic if I’d been killed by the same creature I saved you from.”
She realized he still grasped her wrist. She tried to move away, but he pulled her back, obliging her to turn to him.
“You are trembling.”
“I’m fine.”
“No,” he said. “You’re not.” He pulled her closer and his eyes softened, his gaze holding her mesmerized. She opened her mouth to try to speak, but in the same instant he put his hand under her chin and his lips closed over hers.

"Ella?" He knocks on the door across the hall, my chambers.
Both of us grow silent, not wanting Alexander to find us. I squeeze Hannah's hand tight, afraid to let go. I know I'm a princess and possibly now a queen, but that doesn't change the love I feel for Hannah and the trust I implore her with.
His knock grows louder, more insistent. "Ella, are you in there?" He tries again. Getting no response, I hear the door across the hall squeak open. Obviously I hadn't locked it because I wasn't in the room. His boots stomp through the corridor and away from our chambers.
I keep my voice low, not wanting to alert anyone stepping into the hall that Hannah's room is occupied. "Now what?" I ask her. I'm terrified of the man I married. He's a man with too much power. I was warned of such princes's existing in their quest for the crown. Had I been wrong judging Alexander when we first met? He'd intentionally swept me off my feet and charmed my parents letting him take me away in a whirlwind. I should have delayed the wedding, gotten to know him better. Did he have any siblings? Were they too murdered so he could ascend the throne? My stomach aches and I feel as though I may never be able to eat again. How will I face Alexander with what I know? I've never been very good at pretending. How will I lie beside him at night and act like I'm falling in love with him? Last night it came easy, but now that I know what he's capable of, I fear for my life.

Book Description:

Zac Montclair's first priority is to protect his people. With the escalating war between factions of shifters over land and resources, he has agreed to an alliance between his polar bears and the Shadowcat Nation of cougar shifters. But the treaty comes with a condition…he must accept one of their Seers into his Timik and put her under his personal protection.

Sarai Bouchard doesn't need her supernatural gift to know that Kyle Carstairs's obsession with controlling her ability will eventually result in her misery and demise. Her power is essential to her people's survival, so when Kyle goes rogue, she's sent to Zac Montclair to keep her safe. However, her visions reveal that while staying will lead to their becoming lovers, it also leads to his death. Leaving Zac will result in her own.

If Sarai can't find a way to change the future, she will be forced to choose…save her lover or save herself.

Excerpt

Sarai concentrated on precise, sharp movements with as much power as she could muster. She’d only been working out for ten minutes or so. She’d started the day similarly yesterday. She cooked breakfast, eating with the guys. She dragged George and Scott on more sightseeing trips. Today she’d decided to explore a small portion of Central Park. She didn’t try to lose them this time. When they’d got home, they’d hit the gym.

Now, Sarai tuned out Scott and George—who were sparring across the way from her—to focus on her own drills.

“How about you try that out on a man who moves and reacts.”

Sarai spun on her heel to find Zac standing behind her. He was wearing running pants and a tight tank top, which meant she didn’t need to use her imagination to picture the muscles of his arms and chest. They were on display. Her own personal show. Sarai swallowed.

Then she computed what he’d said. How was she going to get out of this? The truth was she couldn’t spar. Her visions messed her up. But that was a secret she had no intention of sharing with three people.

“Not really a good idea.”

He stared at her for a long moment. Then he glanced over her shoulder at George and Scott who’d stopped to listen. “I’ve got this, fellas. Why don’t you go back up to the apartment?”

There was no doubt in her mind that was a command, not a suggestion. Clearly the guys thought so too. She watched them leave the room with wide eyes.

As the door closed behind them, Zac’s hands landed on her shoulders, turning her to face them. “Okay, kuluk. It’s just you and me now. What are you not saying?”

Sarai had never felt this vulnerable in her life. Or this scared. This man got to her in a way no one else ever had. How was she supposed to resist that?

“Why is this so important to you?”

He moved his hands from her shoulders to frame her face, his fingers threading through the dark blond strands of her hair. “Keeping you safe is important to me. I need to know how much you can defend yourself if you have to. It will help me determine just what I need to prepare for. No surprises. Okay?”

Sarai took a deep breath. He couldn’t have meant it that way. Just the thought of being important to this big, strong man connected with the frightened, lonely little girl who’d spent her life just trying to survive. But she couldn’t think that way. She had to leave him, and that knowledge made her want to cry.

Seeing her hesitation, he brushed her cheeks softly with the pads of his thumbs. “Let me help you with this burden,” he murmured softly, his voice a hypnotic, deep rumble.

Sarai bit her lip. Sharing this with him really wasn’t that big a deal. She knew she could trust him.

On a deep inhale, she gave a tiny nod and started talking before she could change her mind. “Okay.”

He gave her one of those rare little half-smiles, making her suddenly very glad she had agreed to capitulate. Thankfully, he released her and stepped back, giving her room to breathe.

Excerpt

He glanced down at her. “You really are a tiny thing, aren’t you?”

Andie scowled. “Don’t let my size fool you. I can pack a wallop when I want to. Even with a broken arm.”

A.J. laughed. “I’m sure you can.”

Andie stared straight ahead, her mouth thinning. She hated being patronized. Men were so dense sometimes. They never took her seriously until she showed them exactly why they should.

Keeping her left arm protected, Andie suddenly dropped. One leg shot out and she spun low to the ground, sweeping A.J.’s feet out from under him. As he landed on his back, she was on top of him, her knee on his windpipe—not crushing, just sending a message.

Before she could gloat too much, though, she was flying through the air. Andie tucked into a back flip, landed on her feet, and then spun and launched herself backwards in a one-handed back handspring. A.J. had just gotten on his feet when her legs wrapped around his neck. She used her momentum to drop him back to the floor.

Andie rolled and ended up in a crouch close by. A.J. held up his hands in surrender. “All right, wildcat. You’ve proved yourself.”

Andie glared at him. “Don’t doubt me. And don’t insult my intelligence by pretending you just lost either,” she said in a severe voice, made harsher, perhaps, by the fact that she’d just realized exactly how incredible his blue eyes were. They were a vibrant color made even more interesting by the black ring that rimmed the irises. And she was more than irritated with herself for having noticed that at all.

He levered himself up off the floor. “Fair enough.”

The only thing that kept her from proving her point more—because she could tell he’d held back—was the small amount of respect she could see in his eyes. With a brusque nod, she followed him down the hall.

I always wanted to be a writer – ever since I was about ten. Maybe younger. Although for a short while I considered being a jockey. Then I got too tall.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

I’ve always considered myself a writer. I considered myself an author when I published my first book about three years ago.

How long did it take to get your first book published?

I self-published my first book – Blue Violet. Three years later I signed my first contract for a different book which was published five months later. In January I signed a contract for Blue Violet which I expect to release soon – about four years after I originally self-published it.

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

I’m a business analyst for a major tech company. As a liberal arts major I never would have said I’d do anything with math or computers, but that’s what I do all day – and I love it.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

Sarai’s Fortune (Shadowcat Nation #2)

A Seer has a vision that no matter what path she chooses either she dies, or her lover does.

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

I started out self-publishing. My publisher is The Wild Rose Press and I love working with them.

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

I write the first draft quickly – 2-6 weeks. I spend the bulk of my time, another 1-3 months, doing subsequent drafts. I love the drafting phases where I perfect and round out and add the sparkle.

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

I’ll be finishing out the last two books of the Shadowcat Nation. I have a four-book paranormal romance series called the Svatura series also coming out with The Wild Rose Press. I have two contemporary romance novels completed that I’m working on publishing in the next year. Lots of projects!

What genre would you place your books into?

This series of books are paranormal romance. I also write contemporary romance.

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I love romance in general and have ever since discovering my mom’s stash of Harlequin novels when I was twelve. I love the interactions and watching the story of people falling in love. The paranormal element comes from my love of the science fiction and fantasy genres (I’m a total Star Wars/Lord of the Rings geek) and combining that with my favorite romance genre.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? And why are they your favorite?

My favorite tends to change. My favorite heroine to write my be Andie from Andromeda’s Fall. She’s so snarky, it was fun to write her. My favorite hero at the moment is Shane from Tieryn’s Fury (the 3rd book in the series that’s currently in my editor’s hands). He’s the broody type with a heart of gold. I enjoyed writing him.

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?

I’ve been writing since I was ten or so. I’ve been writing romance novels for the last seven years. The stories in my head just keep coming and won’t leave me alone.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

I write any and everywhere whenever I can find the time. Mostly it’s on the couch or in bed. Sometimes the TV is on, sometimes it isn’t. But I also write at kid’s soccer practice, in the car (when I’m not driving), at coffee shops. You name it.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

I read every single one – good and bad. If the bad ones have merit I try to fix it in the next book. The good ones help keep me going.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

The title usually comes after for the first book. For subsequent books in a series, I usually have the titles first.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?

Character names I have fun with. Lots of trolling through baby name websites. I like to pick names that suit my character’s personality. Places are usually real places that I’ve researched online or been to myself.

Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?

It depends on the character. Andromeda’s name came first because I liked it. I built a personality to suit it. Sarai’s name also came first because she was mentioned in a previous book. In my Svatura series, Ellie’s name came after I had an idea of the character. I like the names to fit the characters (or vice versa).

Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along?

I develop my characters quite a bit before writing. I tend to be a pantser, but I like to know my characters – who they are and how they’ll change – before I write. Sometimes they still surprise me and show me something unexpected. I love it when that happens.

Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of "The moral of this story is..")

I’m no Aesop. My messages tend to be more about the importance of relationships and love.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

I don’t like hardback – they’re too heavy. I’m six of one/half a dozen the other on paperback vs. ebook. They both have advantages and disadvantages. I tend to read ebooks more these days because of transportability and they’re cheaper.

What is your favorite book and Why?  Have you read it more than once?

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I read it every couple of years. Part of it is the sentimentality – I first read it on a particularly lovely family vacation. But I also love the story – the growing up, the bond of sisters. It’s a lovely read.

Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?

The movie is never as good as the book, because it can’t include all the subtlties without being 10 hours long. But with special effects, I do love to see my favorite books in movie format.

Your favorite food is?

chocolate

Your favorite singer/group is?

I love a ton of music in almost every genre. I don’t have one favorite. Glenn Miller (40s swing band) comes to mind off the bat. Lately I listen to a lot of Pitbull.

Your favorite color is?

blue

Your favorite Author is?

Way too hard to answer. Depends on the genre and what I just finished reading.

Astri knew Micke was a jerk, but even she never expected him to send Kai up into the mountains alone to face the troll, unaware that she was asleep in the trailer. Now, trapped in the mountains with a destroyed car, she and Kai need to work together to confront the creature, and their bond grows—but even if they get out alive, can Astri trust Kai with her heart?

Excerpt

Rain spattered the windows of the café, mist making the sunlight bleak. At a table by the wall a man was sitting with a breakfast tray, a small stack of paper on the seat beside him, oblivious to the sideways glances given by the other customers. His messy beard, tousled brown hair and heavy duffel coat gave him the appearance of a slightly cleaned-up vagrant.

“This place is too expensive.” Astri Ingebrigtsen dropped her food on the table and sat down across from him, throwing her dark hair back out of her face. “At this price these eggs should be gold-plated.”

“Get Micke to pay.” Otto grunted, looking down as he dug through his paperwork. “He wanted to stop here.”

“I did. He moaned.”

Otto rolled his eyes just as Micke appeared beside him, breakfast in hand. Without a word Micke picked up the papers then dumped them unceremoniously on Otto’s tray before sitting down with his own.

“Paying for Lise’s too?” Astri asked casually.

“Get lost,” Micke snapped.

As Lise joined them with her own food, Astri turned her attention to her breakfast, smiling to herself. Micke was so easy to wind up.

But God, it had been a miserable week. She cast a rueful glance out of the window to where their trailers sat in the car park, each attached to a Jeep. They were a necessity when they were on a job that required travel, but try as they might, it was impossible to keep them properly warm inside, even with the help of space heaters and extra blankets.

And this had been a long job. Traveling every day, out hunting every damned night. She was beginning to think it would never be over.

Otto was spreading a map out on the windowsill, eating his svele one-handed as he ran a finger along the road markings. The shrill ring of a mobile phone cut through the air and he cursed, dropping his fork and burrowing his hand into his coat pocket.

“Otto here.” He paused. “Not yet. We left Trondheim this morning.”

Astri exchanged glances with Lise. This sounded important.

“We should get there around two. We’ve booked ahead. Tell him to wait in our cabin.” Otto hung up the phone and eyed Astri and Lise, who looked back at him innocently.

“That was Gunther. Our new addition will be meeting us in Orkanger.”

“What did you say his name was?” Lise asked through a mouthful of bread.

“Kai. Kai Amundsen.” Otto glared at Micke, who had let out a dismissive snort. “Enough, Micke.”

“We don’t need more people.” Micke twisted in his seat to face Otto, his mouth twisted in disgust. “Too many of us attracts attention. And we don’t need a greenhorn holding us back.”

“We’ve been over this. We need his research to capture it.” Otto held up a hand to forestall any further response. “This is not negotiable. Eat.”

“He’s right, Micke,” Lise cut in. “We’ve been chasing it for weeks. This could mean we finally catch it.”

Micke slammed his fist on the table, making the cutlery jump. “I do not need some college student to tell me how to do my job. When he’s never in his life caught a tr—”

“Micke!”

About to snap back at Astri, Micke caught her eye and shut his mouth. Astri hastily scanned the room to see if anyone had overheard.

It didn’t seem like it. A few heads had turned at his outburst, but apparently nobody had picked up on that last dangerous word.

  Author Interview

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I always wanted to be a writer, although it took me a long time to get here!

How long did it take to get your first book published?

It took me three years to write "The Hand He Dealt", after which I made some revisions based on a critique from the Romantic Novelists' Association. However, once it was finished, it was only the seventh publisher who accepted it. I was lucky to find Totally Bound.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

"In the Halls of the Mountain Troll" is a paranormal erotic romance - Astri is a Norwegian troll-hunter thrown together with Kai, a hot researcher.

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

I primarily publish with Totally Bound, although I have also worked with Naughty Nights Press and House of Erotica.

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

More erotic romance, certainly, although not necessarily paranormal. I do love paranormal but am always happy to write more realistic stories.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

The only necessity for me is clothes. I'm very jealous of any writer who says they can work in their pyjamas, because if I'm not dressed I don't have my writing head on and will just sit and surf.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

I do. I've been lucky so far not to get any that have seriously upset me, but it's always nice when a reviewer really likes your writing.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

Either. Usually I will have some idea of a title before I start writing but there have been times when the title comes later - "In the Halls of the Mountain Troll" was named after it was finished.

Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?

Generally they come at the same time. If I don't get the name right I can't see the character so I need to have it in place before most of the development can happen.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

EBook, I think, just because my Kindle is so convenient. I can have six or seven books on the go at once without taking up space in the house.

What is your favorite book and Why?  Have you read it more than once?

I'm not sure I can pick a permanent favourite, although one I do love is Jane Austen's "Emma". I must have read that a dozen times. Austen's third-person POV is perfect in that book.

Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?

They can. My favourite is probably "Jurassic Park", possibly because it's the only Michael Crichton novel that transferred well - most of his books are so heavy with science that they simply don't work as movies.

Your favorite food is?

Thai sticky rice. I could eat it all day.

Your favorite singer/group is?

Queen, although I'm also a great fan of the Darkness.

Your favorite Author is?

It changes regularly, but right now I'm very keen on Suzannah Dunn.

Now twenty-two, Taylor doesn’t think she’s worth more than being the kind of girl a guy hooks up with in the back room of a bar after her band plays. She definitely isn’t the one you bring home to meet Mom and Dad.
An unlikely rescue puts her in Ethan’s sight. He’s her total opposite, though. Ethan is a sexy dork who sees beyond Taylor’s guarded exterior. He sees past the tattoos and piercings. He sees her.
But they both have secrets capable of destroying their relationship. And if Taylor’s past ever catches up with her, the consequences could be deadly.
Due to explicit language, sexual content, and dark themes, reader discretion is advised.

Whatever was about to happen would make Ethan and me definite. We’d be together, or all hope I had for the two of us would be gone.
Ethan sucked on his bottom lip, his eyes full of torment. “You wouldn’t talk to me.”
I swallowed. He had this way of making me think he could see all of me, every part I hid, every flaw I had, every dream I didn’t dare believe in, like he worshipped it because it was mine. “I screwed up.”
He shook his head as he stepped closer, took the net out of my hand, and placed it on the side of the pool. “No, you didn’t.”
He stood in front of me, staring into my eyes. I couldn’t look away. I didn’t want to look away. There was nothing but Ethan and me in the water with the vibrations of anticipation flowing through my veins, feeding an energy to my body so intense I could only stand frozen. His gaze shifted to my mouth, and I licked my lips.
“Taylor, I…I’m going to kiss you,” he said softly. “I want you to remember how good it feels. I need you to remember that before we talk.” His hands ran up and down my arms as his eyes bore into mine. “Okay?”
I did not need a reminder of how perfect everything in the world was when we kissed, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to argue. The ability to speak escaped me, but I nodded. He leaned toward me and my heart slammed in my chest as he brushed his fingers over my lips. “So beautiful,” he whispered, more to himself than me.

Describe yourself. What is your worst and best quality?

Best is I do what I have to in order to take care of people I love. Worst is I fuck up everything.

What is the one thing you wish other people knew about you?

I hate it when people ask me about my tattoo on my wrist. So I wish they knew that. Then maybe they’d stop asking.

What is your biggest secret/something no one knows about?

Listen, I’m not trying to be a bitch but there’s a reason why no one knows that, you know?

What are you most afraid of?

Being found. I’m not a fan of theme parks either.

What do you want more than anything?

To be loved, happy, and safe.

What is your relationship status?

I am so hot for a guy that is my total opposite. Which sucks, because he’d never go for someone like me. I kind of felt him up in the pool the other day, though, and he seemed into it.

How would you describe your sense of fashion?

I’m in a bikini most of the time for work.  When I’m not working, I just wear shorts and a tank top. Nothing special. I’m not one of those rich people that can be all into clothes.

Are you attracted to rebels?

Nope. I actually realized recently that rule followers are crazy sexy.

What do you considered to be your greatest achievement?

I’ve saved people I love before. They just don’t know it. And they hate me. So I’m not really sure if it’s great for me, but they’re alive and happy so it’s great for them.

What is your idea of happiness?

Playing music with my friends and spending time with someone I love after.

What is your current state of mind?

I’m always cautious, but these days I’m kind of happy too, which I like.

What is your most treasured possession?

 My bass and some magazines.

What is your most marked characteristic?

I like to help people expand their vocabulary.

What is it that you, most dislike?

 Stalkers and serial killers.

Which living person do you, most despise?

There are two, but that has to do with my biggest secret. So, sorry.

What is your greatest regret?

I caused a lot of problems with my sister, and now she doesn’t talk to me.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

I recently figured out that I’m sapiosexual. I don’t know what took me so long to realize it, because it’s so fucking hot.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

When they are nice and not bitchy. That’s cool.

Which person, living or dead, do you most admire?

My mom, because she did a great job without having much.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Like physically? I wish I had bigger boobs.

What is your motto?

Do what you have to do.

Number of pages: 300

Word Count: 90,000

Book Description:

Brigid Roan is a graduate student at the University of Texas. She had no trouble getting her thesis approved, but finding a Hill Country motorcycle club willing to give her access to their lifestyle had started to seem impossible. Then she got a lead. A friend of a friend had a cousin with ties to The Sons of Sanctuary.

What she wanted was information to prove a proposition. What she didn’t want was to fall for one of the members of the club. Especially since she had set out to prove that motorcycle clubs are organized according to the same structure as primitive tribal society.

Brash Fornight was standing in line at the H.E.B. Market when his world tipped on its axis. While waiting his turn to check out, his gaze had wandered to the magazine display and settled on the new issue of “NOW”. The image on the cover, although GQ’d up in an insanely urbane way, was… him.

After reading the article, Brash threw some stuff in a duffle and left his club, The Sons of Sanctuary, with a vague explanation about needing a couple of days away. He left his Jeep at the Austin airport and caught a plane for New York, on a mission to find the guy who was walking around with his face.

Two brothers, one a player, one a playboy, are on a collision course with destiny and a woman who thought she won a prize when she was allowed a look inside the Sons of Sanctuary MC.

Excerpt

“Sir?” Brash Fornight gradually became aware that someone behind him in the grocery checkout line was trying to get his attention. “Sir?” He refocused and glanced behind him. The woman leaning on a cart overflowing with chip bags and cookie boxes nodded toward the cashier indicating that it was his turn to move forward. Brash looked her in the eye and had to give her props. Most people wouldn’t have the balls to try to herd a guy wearing Sons of Sanctuary MC leather.

The club employed a woman who cooked and did grocery shopping several times a week as part of her job description, but Brash didn’t like to explain his relentless craving for peanuts and he liked being teased about it even less. He didn’t know whether it was the Vitamin B or the fat or just because he liked the taste, but he couldn’t imagine going a day without them.

That’s how he came to be standing statue still In the grocery checkout line, being prompted by some woman with more nerve than sense. While he was waiting, his eyes drifted over the magazine display and settled on the cover of “NOW”, on the Most Eligible Bachelor edition no less. The debonair figure staring back was wearing Brash’s own face and body. He looked different with short hair and a four thousand dollar suit with the shirt fashionably open at the neckline, but the similarity was inescapable.

On impulse he grabbed the magazine and tossed it onto the conveyor belt with his week’s stash of peanuts.

He stuffed the bags into the saddlebags of his bike and roared toward home, nervously tapping his fingers on handlebars at red lights, riding on shoulders to keep from slowing down. He was anxious to get to the privacy of his own room and read about Branach St. Germaine.

Two beers, one jar of peanuts, and one “NOW” article later, Brash was sitting on the edge of his bed looking at the wall, seeing nothing but his own heavy thoughts. He pulled out his phone, looked up a website, and waited on hold for ten minutes to hear the time of the next flight from Austin to New York.

There was a flight to Newark in a little over three hours. He looked at his watch and calculated the time it would take to drive from Dripping Springs at that time of day. As he booked the flight, he stood up, walked to the small closet, grabbed a duffel bag, and began shoving stuff into it. Ten minutes later, he closed his door and locked it, threw the duffel over his shoulder, and headed straight for the office downstairs. He dropped the duffel on the hallway floor beside the closed door and knocked.

“Yeah?” Brash looked inside, glad that his dad was by himself, and stepped in. “What’s up?”

“I’m takin’ personal time, Pop. Gonna be gone for a couple of days.”

“What the hell is ‘personal time’?”

The gruffness made Brash smile. “It means I’m not gonna be here if you call and I’m not tellin’ you why.”

The Sons of Sanctuary President looked up at Brash, over the top of his readers, and narrowed his eyes. “You got a secret?”

“Everybody’s got secrets.”

Brandon Fornight studied his son for a minute. “True enough. Is it the kind of secret that could affect this club?”

Brash shook his head. “Don’t see how.”

“Well, then. See you… When did you say you’d be back?”

“I didn’t.”

“Bein’ purposefully vague, are you?”

Brash grinned. “That’s why they call it personal time. But I expect to be back Friday.”

“You gonna have your phone with you?” When Brash nodded, Bran looked back down at his ledger in a deliberately dismissive gesture. “Well, get outta here then.”

Brash parked his bike in the airplane hangar. The structure had already been on the property when the club had bought it and turned it into a compound twenty years earlier. They used part of it for vehicle maintenance and repair and part for parking.

Some of the guys who were working looked over and shot curious glances his way when Brash threw his duffel into his pickup and started it up, but it wasn’t their way to ask questions. The Sons figured that if somebody wanted you to know something, they’d tell you.

Brash took a cab to a midtown hotel, wondering all the way why human beings would choose to live in such a place. As he slid his credit card across the hotel counter to the agent on duty, he glanced at the name, Brandon Fornight. It seemed unlikely that it was a coincidence that that the mysterious look-alike’s first name began with the same four letters. He ordered room service and pulled out his laptop.

Getting intel on the guy didn’t take advanced ops. Within an hour Brash knew where Brannach St. Germaine worked, what kind of car he drove, what kind of women he dated, who his tailor was, and where he liked to dine. There was no shortage of photos online, but the one that grabbed his attention wasn’t one of the many with starlets or debutantes on his arm. It was the one taken with his arm around his mother as they were arriving together for some red carpet fundraiser. Brash had an almost irresistible compulsion to reach up and touch her face on the screen in front of him.

The knock on the door signaled that room service had arrived. It cost a fortune, but looked and tasted like shit. So he closed the computer and went out for a walk to clear his head and find something edible.

Her heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, past life therapists, or financial analysts from Dallas. Her heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners – usually – whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.

The first book of the Knights of Black Swan Paranormal Romance Series, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of 2012 by both Reviewers’ Choice and Readers’ Choice Awards. All of her books have opened on the Amazon Best Sellers list and earned Night Owl Reviews Top Pick awards.

Many have appeared on Listopia Book of the Month as #1 across all genres.

For books published in 2013, Black Swan won three awards.

1. Best Paranormal Romance Series

2. Best Paranormal Romance Novel – A SUMMONER’S TALE

3. Best Vampire~Shifter Novel – MOONLIGHT.

In 2014, Solomon’s Sieve won Best Vampire Novel.

This is Roadhouse, the very best in Classic Rock, taken near The Last Concert Cafe, Houston Texas, 2011. I was the utility player which means I played rhythm guitar, keyboards, sang backups and a few leads.

Shattered - The Russian Guns # 5 by Bethany-Kris   Audience: Adult 18+, New Adult - Genre: Contemporary, Suspense, Organized Crime - Format: E-book & Paperback  - Publisher: Bethany-Kris - Cover by: Jay Aheer - Editor: Elle Leigh - Pages: Full length novel – 100k - ISBN: 978-0-9937797-6-3 - Expected Date of Publishing: July 2nd, 2015     blurb “Don’t fall in love with me. I ruin beautiful things.”
Love made him this way, but life makes him stay.
Life doesn’t give a redo. There’s no rewind or pause button to take you back or stop time. Once something happens, it happened. The most tragic of those times in his life, the ones he wouldn’t get back and the moments he could never fix, reminded Demyan Avdonin of a bullet meeting glass.
The impact of the bullet doesn't break the glass into pieces, but instead, leaves behind a single hole surrounded by a spider web of cracks. Fragile cracks that, when handled with the utmost care, would splinter into shards of what used to be.
Demyan thought he had been broken beyond repair once, four long years ago.
He was wrong.
She touched the glass, unknowing of the cracks holding him together. These are the broken pieces of a shattered man and the woman who made him live.
Life made him this way, but love makes him stay.

book links Goodreads   excerpt Something was happening to him, and it was because of her. He was letting it happen because he liked the way she got under his skin, made him think, and forced him to feel. Even if it wasn’t always fucking pretty.
Demyan wasn’t sure how he felt about that other than the fact he didn’t want to think about it at all. Hooking up was one thing, but acting cozy was completely different and not what he should want.
“Demyan—”
“Don’t,” he forced out.
“But—”
Demyan turned on his heel, a hand flying up in the air to stop her from saying another thing. He made a swift beeline for the front door, grabbing his jacket off the back of the couch where he tossed it the night before.
“Demyan!”
At the front door, he tugged on his coat before yanking on his shoes.
“Demyan, please just wait a second,” Claire pleaded. “Please!”
Her cry sliced him straight down to the fucking bone. Like it ached in his heart because he was the one making her hurt. She was just feet away from him. Christ, he could reach out and touch her, soothe her if he wanted, but he couldn’t.
“Don’t do that,” Demyan said sharply, standing straight and trying to force back the rising anxiety and anger.
Claire snapped away from him as if he’d stuck out at her with his hand. “Do what?”
“That.”
“I don’t understand wh—”
Demyan waved at her. “That right there. This can’t be something. We can’t be something. Don’t do that.”
“Demyan, you’re freaking out over nothing.”
No, he wasn’t.
There were tears in her eyes. They weren’t falling, but they were there. She was hurt by his rejection, and he didn’t know how to handle what was going on inside his head and heart. So, it was pretty goddamn simple for Demyan. He needed to stop whatever this was before it went any further. Straight for the kill, like any good monster would do.
“Don’t fall in love with me. I ruin beautiful things.”
Claire flinched. “Why would you say that?”
“You can’t fall in love with someone like me and you certainly can’t afford to believe there’s something here or that you can make me better again. I am broken—unobtainable and unfixable. I don’t need a fucking martyr in my life. I’ve got enough of those as it is.”
“Ouch.”
“Just … don’t.”
“Fall in love with you.”
“Exactly,” Demyan muttered.
“Why would you say that?” she repeated.
Wasn’t it obvious?
“Claire—”
“Why would you tell me not to fall in love with you and then in the next sentence, call me beautiful?”
Because she was.

Loving Red – Broken World # 3 by Alisha Costanzo

Audience: New Adult - Genre: Paranormal Romance - Format: E-book & Paperback - Publisher: Transmundane Press - Cover by: Karri Klawiter - Editor: Anthony S. Buoni - Pages: 183 - Expected Date of Publishing: 09.09.2015   blurb  For Sergeant Severins Bouvier, silence means tactical planning and a large death toll, and he can’t shake how danger threatens him on the beaches of Miami, especially after seeing one of his associates in a local sandwich shop. Worse, the enemy seems fascinated with the woman he can’t stop thinking about—a woman determined not to trust him.
Everything about Sev crashes through Kaia’s carefully placed boundaries, traps, and avoidances. Regardless of her lack of interest in the majority of men, the ones that did catch her off guard left a lot of collateral damage. Who better than a soldier to understand that?
The problem is that she trusts him. Just not with her heart.

book links Goodreads add to goodreads excerpt “Something feels different about this place,” she said, voice soft but spreading across the grounds like an earthquake.
“It’s protected. That’s what you feel.”
A short, frail-looking male swung open his front door and appeared on the square wooden porch. His skin marbled like the bark of an old oak with tints of green. Long and wide eyes assessed Severins and Kaia before his gaze slashed to Kaia’s vampire friend, Kalib. The performance was rather dramatic.
“You said one—a single, human female. Human. That is not human.” The dryad’s twig-finger pointed to Severins with further flair.
“We were lacking in our information. The wolf is no harm to you.”
“No harm. No harm!” His hair sprouted green and miniature ivy fell around his ears. “At best, he’ll piss on my plants. At worst.” The small man’s voice squabbled high and fluttered through the leaves above. “At worst!”
Kalib rolled his eyes, and Severins shook his head. Kaia, however, seem entranced with the dryad’s tirade.
“Eilon. Fucking wood nymphs. Eilon.”
“Oh no, sir. You can stay in your pretty little metal box for that.” Eilon slammed his door again in a giant huff.
Kaia jerked and came back to the small clearing. Her eyes took on a darker green in these woods. “He did not like either of you very much.”
“Tree-folk aren’t group friendly unless there’s a ceremony or an orgy, although they’re practically the same thing to them.” Kalib pulled two long swords from behind his seat—long enough they shouldn’t have fit back there. He strapped them into holsters hidden beneath his loose cotton shirt. “I’ll take first watch.”
“Dryad’s don’t like wolves too much—territorial and all that. Piss in the wrong part of the woods once, and it’s like you killed their elder.”
“Did you tinkle on one of his plants?”
Severins snorted in delight at hearing the word tinkle come out of her mouth. “No, I’m house-trained, beautiful.”
