Driven to Distraction with Rosanna Leo

Hi, my little monkeys! I am very excited to have my dear friend, Rosanna Leo, back on the blog today. Rosanna is celebrating the release of her eighth book, Predator's Serenade, Book 2 in her Gemini Island Shifters series from Liquid Silver Books. Please help me welcome Rosanna!

Driven to Distraction
You know the feeling. You spot someone, a certain special someone, maybe for the first time. Everything changes. The world tilts on its axis. Stars seem to collide. Your blood pressure skyrockets. You might feel palpitations and are sure you might die. And yet everything seems to make sense at the same time. That, my friends, is love at first sight. Or, at least in my books, being driven to distraction. This happens to my characters a lot, and the hero/heroine in Predator’s Serenade, my new release, are no exception. My hero Soren Snow is a playboy, a famous rock star shifter who has always gotten what he wants from women. Until the day he spies a petite, curvy mom of a shifter boy. And because she knows his reputation, she wants nothing to do with him. Gioia Clementine has enough to think about without having to worry about the tall, blond sex god who happens to be her drummer son’s rock idol. And yet meeting Soren in the flesh results in spontaneous sexual combustion. From that moment on, my characters can’t quite seem to breathe properly unless they’re in the same room. They can’t function, can’t see for wanting each other so much. Soren tries to distract himself with a bottle of cold beer, tries to slake his thirst, and the bottle seems to morph into Gioia’s curvaceous form. Gioia tries desperately to look away from Soren, but her gaze is drawn to him as if by magic. Fate, you say? In the shifter world, this sense of being driven to distraction is a palpable emotion that threatens to devastate. Not being with one’s mate can destroy a shifter. We watch these hapless beings, who’d been so sure of themselves, fall from their exalted, almost cocky heights. And it’s so delicious watching them fall.
******
There are three things that make bear shifter Soren Snow’s skin crawl: mothers, their children, and the great outdoors. Soren is a famed musician and playboy, and he would rather spend his days pressing the flesh with the women in his fan club than developing meaningful relationships. When his brother calls in a favor, forcing Soren to revisit the Ursa Fishing Lodge in Northern Ontario, he couldn’t be more displeased. However, he owes his brother big time.
Gioia Clementine would rather not meet Soren, her drummer son’s rock idol. But when tragedy strikes her home, it seems the only one the boy might respond to is Soren. Gioia begrudgingly agrees to let her son meet him, hoping the rock star won’t turn her tween into a musical misogynist.
When Gioia and Soren meet, the sexual chemistry threatens to set the Ontario woodland ablaze. Can these two opposites find a common ground? And can they manage to resolve their unwanted feelings, even when a mysterious stranger arrives at the lodge, threatening everything?
Excerpt: Gioia followed Soren's approach with a curious eye. She'd wondered if the miracle kisser would beat a hasty retreat after witnessing her boy fall to pieces, and yet here he was. He wore the same famished look he had right before he'd ruined her for any other man's kiss. And she felt it too. The tingles between her shoulder blade, the gelatin knees, and trembling lips that wanted to gobble him up. She couldn't. She didn't want to saddle him with such a wreck of a woman or family. He came right up to her, so close, as if making a mockery of the space that sought to separate them. Weaving his fingers through her hair, he cradled her skull and pulled her close. Tucking her head against his chest, he kissed the top of her head, blazing a trail of hot reaction down her spine. He had new clothes on and smelled fresh and clean. As she breathed him in, he rained soft kisses all over her head. He knows. She pulled away, suddenly terrified he'd think she was a travesty of a mother. It's what anyone would think in his case. They'd wonder what Gioia had done wrong to create a monster child. But as she attempted to remove herself from his grasp, Soren fought her by holding her still. Again she tried jerking away from his wall of a chest. He held her firm. When she tried two more times, each time unsuccessfully, he looked at her and shouted, "Dammit, woman, I am not letting you go, so you can stop pulling away from me!" Something in Gioia broke. She'd been carrying her sadness around for so long, trying to be strong, and Soren was offering to be strong for her. For just a moment, maybe she could surrender. God only knew how badly she wanted to give herself to the bear man. He grabbed her tighter, and his hands slid down to mold over her ass cheeks. His warm breath was all over her face, and she took a dizzying dive into the seas of his eyes. He ground her against him, and she was forced to stand on tip toes. "Gioia," he whispered. She wound her arms about his tense neck, felt him tense further. Then … a sigh somewhere in his big frame and a relaxation in his muscles. As if he needed to have her wound about him. As if it soothed him as much as her. "Soren. Please." As he kissed her, he picked her up, his hands under her bottom. Her miniskirt rode up, and she spared a second to mentally curse her decision to wear it. And then she didn't care. Kissing her madly, Soren spirited her into the woods.

One Hot Knight by Christy Gissendaner Blog Stop and Giveaway!

Happy Monday my little monkeys! I'm proud to showcase my friend and fellow author, Christy Gissendaner, and her new release One Hot Knight - AVAILABLE NOW!

Stupid curse!

Yves Sucat was a Crusader trapped in a canine body…until a beautiful twenty-first century dog groomer offered the missing link to break his spell. But Regina Patterson was no fluffy-headed female who would instantly melt at Yves' silvery seduction. The more time he spent with the tender-hearted blonde, the less he was able to keep his paws—hands!—off of her.

Regina was much more comfortable with dogs than men, and the stunningly handsome – stunningly male – knight who now shared her apartment was no exception. She’d hoped to find a man as loyal as the pooches she pampered day after day, but would Yves’s broken curse end with her own broken heart?

But first, a tasty sample of One Hot Knight!

Excerpt
An unusual chill lifted the hairs at her nape. She looked again. There was nothing but trees around her. Birds chirping and the dog panting were the only sounds she heard. She studied the collar again.

It was much older than the dog appeared.

It could possibly belong to him since it was large enough to fit around his neck. She turned it over in her hands, but didn’t see his identification listed anywhere on it. Just a strap of leather with sparkly jewels.

The dog whined and bumped his head against her. Shaking off her concerns, she bent down beside him. He’d known where it was buried. Possession was nine-tenths of the law, after all.

“You want it?” Regina wrapped it around his neck and over the plain one she’d bought him. The jeweled collar was beautiful and all, but at least the utilitarian one she’d put on him had her cell number listed.

When it was buckled, she stepped back to study how it looked. “It’s a bit girlish, actually. Are you sure you want to wear it?”

She moved to take it off, but the dog gave a warning growl and backed away from her. The noise lacked venom, but it was stern enough to let her know he definitely wanted to keep the collar.

“All right, I won’t take it off. But now that you got what you came for, can we go?”

One minute, she was reaching for his leash, the next she was flat on her ass, knocked aside by an unexplainable force. Dirt and leaves swirled around her, making it difficult to breathe and impossible to see.

The maelstrom stung her eyes and made her blink as she waited for it to settle. When it finally did, she got the surprise of her life.

In front of her stood a very tall, very large, very naked man with two dog collars encircling his neck.

She let out a scream, scrambling backward on her elbows. Who in the hell was this guy, and how had he just appeared before her like genie poofing out of a lamp? Had her lunch been tainted? She had to be imagining this. Were hallucinations a sign of food poisoning?

The man approached her, holding out a hand as if he wanted to help her up. Fear made her ignore the offer. Despite the fright, she studied the nude stranger before her.

Shoulder-length black hair framed a strongly chiseled face. Dark brows slashed over equally dark eyes. His nose was straight. A firm jaw line hinted at his powerful strength. His legs and arms were corded with thick muscle. A lightly furred chest appeared as if it had been carved from marble. He personified the male model of every romance cover she’d ever seen.

And dear God, she’d seen a lot of them.

Ignoring the rush of unbidden attraction, Regina focused instead on the scare she’d just received. She climbed to her knees, but the position put her eyes on the level of his crotch. Jerking her gaze away from his impressive package, she hastily got to her feet.

What the hell just happened? She threaded her fingers through her hair and struggled to get a grip. Surely her eyes were playing tricks on her. No way had she just witnessed a dog turn into a man…a very desirable man at that. Running away was her first inclination, but she refused to do that without her dog.

“Who are you?” She glanced around in confusion. “What have you done with my dog?”

Your dog?” The man’s chuckle was deep. His accent was foreign, almost guttural, but he spoke English with ease. “Forgive me, but I belong to no woman.”

Guest Blog: Sofia Grey

Hi naughty readers! I'm off to Colorado for RomCon, and I'm incredibly excited to be able to get out there and meet all of you readers!
Before I go, I'm happy to host author Sofia Grey as she tours to promote her new novel, Obsession. Please help make her feel welcome! ~P
Dirty, rotten cheat
Cheating is bad, yeah? The word conjures up images of people hiding cards at poker, reading up on test / exam questions beforehand, and the big one, cheating on their partner. The Wikipedia definition: Cheating is the getting of reward for ability by dishonest means. We all know someone who’s had a cheating partner, or have experienced it for ourselves, and it’s ugly. But cheating comes in a variety of flavours and I bet we all do it in some form:
“That lunch receipt was a business expense.”
“I kinda forgot to mention they gave me too much change at that expensive café.”
See? And cheating, like lying, probably gets easier and more commonplace the more it’s done.
In Obsession, Josh Delaney has made a career out of tempting women away from their husbands, to see how willing they are to cheat. If he were ever to consider a relationship, it wouldn’t be with a married woman since he knows how fickle they are. Falling in love with Suki though, makes him reassess everything. In this excerpt, Josh is talking to Suki’s friend, Anita, while out horseriding:
*

For some reason, I wanted to give her a partial truth. “It’s just, I’m… ah… I thought your friend Suki was nice. I guess I was hoping to find out some more about her.” I gave her my forlorn-puppy look. It melts the hardest of hearts. After a stern glare, she relented, just a little.“Suki’s married. To a colleague of Jon’s and she’s really not available. They’re supposed to have one of the happiest marriages ever.”She didn’t believe it herself. Out of curiosity, I touched her sleeve, hoping to read something more from her, but apart from a sense of doubt and some vague concern, I couldn’t sense anything. “I’ll cross her off my list then. Thanks for the heads up.” I gave her a rueful smile. After another brief hesitation, Anita released my reins and urged her horse to walk forwards again. She glanced over her shoulder at me. “I’m speaking out of turn—Suki would be horrified if she knew I’d said anything—but watch out for her husband. He’s a nasty piece of work. If he thought someone was making moves on his wife, he’d be a force to be reckoned with. And you know what? It wouldn’t go well for Suki either.”This time, I grabbed her reins, pulling her to a stop. The girls behind us watched with openly puzzled faces. “Are you saying he’s violent?” My chest felt tight at the thought. Was this why Suki had been so afraid? Her face was closed, she shook her head. Again, I didn’t quite believe her. “Not as such, I don’t think he’d ever hurt Suki, he adores her. But she wouldn’t thank you for getting involved. If you like her even a tiny bit, take my advice and leave her alone.”*Can cheating ever be good? Cheating death by walking away from a traffic accident / plane crash? If you could cheat anything, what would it be? Leave me a comment and you’ll go into a draw to win a copy of Obsession.
Obsession is available 12 June 2013, from Time & Tide Publishing.
Josh Delaney is the ideal honey trap.
His charm and model good looks would be enough for most women, but coupled with his psychic ability to read their thoughts, he’s impossible to resist. Suspicious husbands employ him to test their wives, to see if they can be tempted to stray.
High profile couple Suki and Gabe Bridgewater have the perfect marriage, or at least, that’s the image they portray to the world. Behind closed doors, Gabe’s dominance in the marriage is unravelling and he decides to test Suki, using Josh as bait.
For Josh it should be just another easy job, but two things go horribly wrong.
One, Josh falls in love with Suki.
And two, Gabe refuses to let her go.

Wet and Wild Blog Hop!

It's the Wet and Wild Blog Hop! Three of my favorite things. Wet. Wild. Blog Hop. :)

Now that summer is beating down our doors, it's time to get down to reading. I don't know about you, but I'm waaaaayyyyyy behind on my TBR list.

What's in store, you ask? Well, here are my top five, sexy, can't wait to read books for this summer.

Parker's Summer Reading - Top Five

#5 - Turn and Burn by Lorelei James

My number five just happens to be the fifth book in Lorelei James' Blacktop Cowboy series. After One Night Rodeo, I'm excited to find out what's in store for sassy Tanna. Too bad I'll have to wait until August to find out...

#4 - Rush by Maya Banks

I love anything Maya Banks writes, so I'm very excited about this first book in her her Breathless Trilogy. I mean, come on. One of the three most wealthy men in the country, living out his sexual desires? Sign. Me. Up.
#3 Rescue in the Smokies by Becca Jameson

I love the warning on this book. "Warning: This book contains hunky shape-shifters living in the mountains, hot steamy sex in caves, mind-blowing oral, mild bondage and wild abandonment in front of mirrors."

She had me at "Warning."

#2 - Predator's Kiss by Rosanna Leo

I'm planning a summer filled with sexy shifters...so, of course, I can't forget Rosanna Leo. Aside from the fact that she's a friend, I adore her and everything she writes. I can't wait to settle in with these yummy bears!

#1 - Redneck Romeo by Lorelei James

I know, I know. Lorelei already has a book in my top five...but is it my fault she's releasing two books this summer? I first learned about this series a few years ago...and I'm hooked. Whew, this is book 15...and I hope there are that many more to come. The way the McKays reproduce...I'd expect we will have characters for the Rough Rider series for years to come. :)
So, there you have it. Of course, I have hundreds more to read. These five are just the tip of the iceberg. What are your summer reads? I know you're looking forward to my new release, Spring Training, aren't you? Because it releases TODAY!! :)
There are lots of prizes for this hop - and I'm giving one lucky commenter a free eBook copy of Spring Training. Winner will be chosen at random, but your email address must be included to win, as well as to qualify for the grand prize listed below!

GRAND PRIZE: (provided by our sexy host, Skye Warren)

Thank you for hopping with us! Below is a list of others participating in this hop - so be sure to visit as many as you can for a chance to win lots of great prizes.

Prize offered at this stop: eBook copy of Spring Training by Parker Kincade

For baseball superstar Garrett Donovan, his contract with the New York Empire baseball team meant he’d finally have the means to secure a future for his family. He should focus on that…not on the sassy, beautiful Jessa Montgomery — or what she looks like naked. Getting involved with the daughter of the Empire’s owner would be career suicide. Jessa is a distraction he can’t afford.

Her father had warned her never to get involved with his athletes, so his request that she keep an eye on his new star player came straight out of left field. The last thing Jessa needs is another spoiled, egotistical ball player to deal with. But Garrett is none of those things. His no-nonsense attitude and smooth Southern charm make her blood burn and her knees weak. Giving into temptation, she is consumed by the pleasure she finds in Garrett’s arms.
Jessa wants to protect his career. Garrett won’t let anything get in the way of their passion.
A passion that could cost him everything.

Available NOW on Amazon and ARe!

Good luck! Tell me about your favorite summer reads (don't forget to include your email address). What are you looking forward to? What have you loved in the past? Then, get to hoppin'!

New Release!

My apologies for being away for so long!

For those of you who don't know, I've just finished up my first (and last) year of graduate school. I sure didn't plan very well - otherwise I would have never scheduled the release of Spring Training to happen right after finals week. :)

That being said, Spring Training is ready to go. It's been a wild ride, and I can't wait for you to meet Garrett and Jessa.

This is the first book in my new Game On series. There are four projected books in this series and book two, Southern Heat, will be out later this year. (Who doesn't want a warm, spicy read in the winter?)

For fans of the Martin Family...never fear! Expect to see more of the Martin clan this year as well.

Be sure to "like" me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter for the latest updates! Tomorrow I'll unveil character photos of Garrett and Jessa and I'll be sharing exclusive excerpt #2 from Spring Training on Thursday! The trailer is in production so I'll be unveiling that soon, too! Exciting stuff!

Thank you all for taking this journey with me. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Until next time...

~Parker

Guest Blogger: Lisa M. Owens

Happy Monday, my little monkeys! Today, I'm happy to host Lisa M. Owens. Lisa is here to tell us about her debut novel If Only. But first, she's going to share a little of her journey with us. Please give her a warm welcome!
*************************
Thank you, Parker, for having me! I racked my brain, trying to figure out what I should write about. Different topics, different words, but it all came back to how hard it can be to pursue your goals when you keep getting hit with rejection after rejection. Here are a few words I had on the subject and hopefully, it will help to boost some of the bruised egos out there!
The Dreaded “R” Word
Rejection…it is a word that authors know well. It is one of those words that can do one of two things: cause an aspiring writer to throw up their hands and swear never to write again, or motivate you to work even harder to reach your objective and accomplish your dream to be a publisher author. And like most authors, I have received my fair share of rejections.
But I have been struggling most of my life against criticism for my writing. People who were supposed to love and support me, telling me that my dream of being a published author was a stupid pipe-dream that was never going to happen and that I was simply wasting my time. My family, my ex-husband, they all did their best to extinguish that flame that I carried to write, to kill my dream and ultimately, shatter my spirit.
Although I waged an inner battle with myself, fighting the urge to believe that they were right with every rejection that I received, something inside me refused to give in to their cynicism. Who the hell were they to try to butcher my dream? To tell me that I wasn’t good enough? Just because they had failed to accomplish their dreams, didn’t mean that I was doomed to fail at accomplishing mine.Rejection…we have all experienced it at some point. Whether it’s at the hands of a lover, parent, or a job, and as much as it may hurt, it is a part of life. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Every hurtful word, every fear of failure, every rejection letter will make you a stronger person. Don’t give up. Never give up.
If I can spend four years writing a novel while working full-time and raising two children by myself and eventually get it published, there is hope out there for everyone. If you have a dream, any dream, no matter what it is, you must pursue it. Or you will end up being a bitter person disappointed with their life, just like those cruel people who tried to wear you down.
Rejection…everyone experiences it. But it is how you deal with it that determines whether you succeed or fail. If you never try, then you will never have to deal with rejection. But you will also never have the chance to succeed and in the long run, you will ultimately fail.
Pursuing your dream is worth taking the chance. Rejection may sting, but the knowledge that you have never tried is a bitter pill that you could end up spending your entire life trying to swallow.
On December 24, 2012, my dream of becoming a published author came true. My first novel, titled If Only, is now available through Liquid Silver Books.
What would you do if you had the opportunity to go back and relive your greatest mistake?
Five years ago, Bree Sexton walked out on her fiancé and into the arms of a charming and handsome stranger. She has regretted her decision ever since. Instead of a fairy-tale marriage, her “prince” shattered her dreams and her spirit with physical violence and emotional cruelty she barely escaped.
She then mysteriously wakes up in bed with the fiancé she loved and left, the life she’d dreamed of now a reality, until her cruel ex-husband reappears to destroy her new life. But what is real, and what is make-believe? Is she really getting the chance she has always dreamed of? And when it is all said and done, will she finally end up with the man she has always regretted leaving? Or will she wake up to discover herself alone?

(OMG - Isn't that cover beautiful?! Y'all know I'd never let Lisa out of here without giving you more...so read on!)
Excerpt from If Only:
Bree stood there for a minute, watching as he walked out of her life. She couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if she had married Scott instead of Bryan. How would her life have been different? Would she have had children by now? Would she and Scott still be together, after all this time? Those thoughts and more weighed heavily on her mind as she headed out of the bar. It had begun to snow, and she wrapped her coat even tighter around her slender frame. She looked around, but there was no one to be found. She couldn’t help herself; she stuck out her tongue, a childish impulse she couldn’t ignore, and then laughed out loud in spite of herself.
She looked both ways before attempting to cross the street. Not seeing any cars, she began to make her way across. Bree was walking cautiously when one of her high heels slipped on a patch of ice. She could feel herself falling, and her breathing quickened as she began to panic, wishing she had waited for her friends before venturing off on her own. One shoe flew off as she landed, her head striking the curb. A sharp pain racked through the back of her skull, causing her to cry out. The last thing she saw was Scott’s face swimming before her eyes, and then her world went black.
Bree awoke to a man nipping gently on her earlobe, his tongue stroking the delicate curves. His hot breath blew into her ear, sending shivers up and down her spine. She slowly opened her eyes as a man’s hand stroked her upper thigh, and she sighed happily.
Ooh, I must be dreaming. And it was such a delicious dream, too.
The man’s hand traveled up her thigh and then encircled her flat stomach. Out of the corner of her eyes, Bree could see a dark head pressing against her abdomen. Then she shivered as a tongue laved her belly button, going in and out erotically, making her feel as though her body was on fire. Bryan had never made her feel like this, and she hadn’t even looked yet to see who this stranger was! But she was only dreaming, so what difference did it make?
His hand continued traveling north, lovingly caressing her skin. He reached for her aching breasts, pressing her nipples roughly before he lowered his mouth to suckle them, first one, and then the other. Bree arched in anxious response to his touch. She longed to see his face, but she feared one look would make his magical touch disappear.
She ached all over, wanted his hands to caress her everywhere, and she longed to touch him. She opened her legs as he straddled her. His hair brushed her naked chest as he began kissing her. His tongue was driving her crazy with desire as he placed tender kisses along her neckline. He brushed her hair aside.
His morning stubble stung her delicate skin, but she hungered for more. Just one more touch, just one more taste, and she would awaken from this wonderful dream and find herself in bed, all alone.
“Oh, Bree, baby. What you do to me,” he whispered, his voice husky.
That voice jerked her back to the present. The voice had haunted her dreams for years. The voice of the man she just couldn’t seem to get over.
“Scott,” she whispered.

About the Author
The writing bug bit Lisa M. Owens at an early age; she was writing short stories and poetry by the age of seven. At the age of eight, she entered a writing contest at her elementary school. About fifty books were written, but Lisa was one of the thirteen writers chosen who received a certificate and the chance to meet Oklahoma writer Sandy Miller.
A former victim of domestic violence herself, Lisa worked at the courthouse for over seven years. Almost three of those years she worked on the Marriage License/Protective Order desk. She helped women file protective orders and worked closely with the staff and counselors at DVIS.
Frustrated with books that merely gloss over the subject of domestic violence, Lisa wanted to write a book that told the entire story. Her dream is for her words to help give someone the courage to leave an abusive relationship.
She resides in Oklahoma and has two children. This is her first published novel, and she is currently working on the next novel of her If Only series.
Lisa enjoys hearing from her readers and can be reached at P.O. Box 9643, Tulsa, OK 74157-0643, or by e-mail, lisamowens@ymail.com.
