Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Dear Readers! Another year, another set of possibilities, new roads to travel, and hopefully fresh starts.
Last year was denounced by many as an 'annus horibilis'. In some respects it was that for me as well, but in other respects, it was a chance to create my own bliss, outside of the deafening noise and grey zones. For one, I got to publish the first book in a series, whose storyline had sat in my mind for years, waiting for its moment to burst unto the page. Secondly, some of you actually read, and liked it!
Thank you to all who have read 'The Boy in the Painting'. Special thanks to Goodreads member 'Indigo Summer', for your lovely review, it inspires me to keep forging on. I am working on Book 2 of The Time Shield Series, and hope very soon, I will be able once again, to take you all on a new literary adventure, into worlds magical and wondrous.

Welcome to my author's page!
Hello everyone, thank you for 'following' my Goodreads author page! I look forward to being able to talk about various aspects of 'The Boy in the Painting' TTS Book 1, once you've had the opportunity of reading the book.
The first seeds behind this series were planted in my imagination, about two decades ago. At the time, I was in no position (time and resource wise), to write a novel, let alone a series. In some ways, I am happy that I didn't write the series back then, as currently, I have much easier access to information via the web.
A lot of research goes into writing this series, not only because it features some characters who've been around since the 1800's, but because of its geographical scope, use of spells, mythical creatures (both known and created), and my absolute love of history.
One of the things I enjoy the most about doing research for my novel, is that I will often stumble upon juicy information I wasn't directly searching for. For example, while creating one of the book's villains, I came across 'The affair of the poisons', which is a truly riveting and scary bit of 17th century French history. The poison in question, was originally created in Italy, and became one of the most widely used during that era.
Other interesting side discoveries were; poet Walter de la Mare, and Croatia's Plitvice Lakes.
I'm currently working on Book 2 of the series, and hope you will come to love the magical world of The Time Shield Series, as much as I do.
Happy reading, and stay well,
C.D. John.
