He can not also steal my soul as well
Water drops
I received an e-mail the other day from a wonderful lady who had bought my book A Hairdresser’s Diary. She said wonderful things about it to me. If she could have seen my face she would have been able to see me blush. We all like to hear those kind words about our work. She ended her e-mail with a question. Why did I not elaborate on the part of the story about how the drunk driver took away my life as I knew it?
I thought for a couple of minutes before I wrote her back. I needed to think about my answer. I wanted to make it short and sweet. For my sake as well as hers. You see the more I think about that time of my life the more melancholy I get.
Finally I had the perfect answer. That uncaring person who chose to drive while drunk, who stole my careers and changed my life was not getting my permission to steal my soul as well. Every time I give him one more thought, that is one more minute of my life I GIVE TO HIM. He has already taken enough.
I also sent her this poem I wrote at that time.
Dear Lord
Dear Lord, it’s time you take things over for me,
I’ve got too much to handle at this time,
The burdens of this life are full upon me,
And I find life’s mountain just too high to climb.
It’s not that I am shirking all my duties,
Or that I want to give them all to you,
It’s just that I have finally reached my limit,
And I know this is the only thing to do.
I need my time to be a wife and mother,
These things are more important to me now,
And once my mind is clear from other worries,
I know everything will be all right somehow.
Amen.

Faithwalk goes on a 33 Day Prayer Journey
33-days of prayer
When I get an idea, the idea seems to haunt me for a few days. I’m driving it pops into my head. While reading, a word or phrase on the page stands out: another germ of my idea. During a conversation, pieces of my idea leap from the other person’s mouth. And if it’s one thing I’ve learned on this faithwalk, nothing is new under the sun; however, if you don’t capture and execute your ideas to the fullest extent someone else will.

Book Review: A Hairdresser\’s Diary by Christine M Hannon http://askdavid.com/reviews/book/insp...
Hairdressing is an act of transformation. We search for the hairdresser that can change us with just the right cut, just the right style. When we find our hairdresser, we make a new friend, often telling them stories about our lives that we don\’t share with everyone. They become the keeper of our diary. Sometimes we wonder what the world looks like from their eyes. The Hairdresser\’s Diary lets us read those stories, starting with the hairdresser\’s own. This book is the story of a little girl who through a childhood full of struggles, hardships and pain had a dream. That dream was to someday become a hairdresser. Follow her as she trades her dollies in for the real thing. This is the diary of a hairdresser who had a calling and a great memory. It is filled with stories of pain, sadness, gossip, angst, triumph, challenge and most of all, humour. This is more than just an ordinary book of hairdresing stories. There are times I will jog our memory and lessons to be learned. You will read things about hairdressing you may have never imagined. You might even look at your hairdresser in a whole new light after reading this book. Come sit in my virtual chair and enjoy the ride.

When God steps in
Yesterday Ron ( my husband ) and I spend another amazing day with two incredible people – Ronnie and Eric. Some of you already know this talented author Ronnie Dauber. Most of the people we talk to on LinkedIn, Facebook or e mails we only know from internet contact. Yes! we feel the friendships, warmth, honestly and appreciate all those who help us or who we are able to help. Rarely do we get to meet these wonderful friends face to face.
We as authors are a breed of our own. We are not afraid to share our experiences. Toot each others horn or give our trade secrets. There is no air of superiority just friendship. Yesterday when she handed me her new book, I knew that I wanted to make sure everyone who was within my internet voice would know about this important story that needs to be shared. I want to share this with all of you and urge you to read her message.
I remember where I was a year ago and I’m in tears just knowing that I’m alive and healthy and it’s all because I learned how to trust God. My book, Let Faith Arise!, is a collection of inspired messages that I wrote down during my long healing journey, and I want to share them with you so that you, too, can know that with God, all things are possible. http://tinyurl.com/9otpbe9

Angels Remembered
Meet Cercie (right) and Boots. Boots had a personality that no other cat could match. He came to us as a starving stray. Cercie who is spoiled rotten, let him come in and eat.. That was 15 years ago. He never left. He was a friend to all. One evening while sitting in the office working on our computers ( they are in the basement office) I heard a noise outside the window were Boots & Cercie usually come in. Looking in at me was a huge pair of glowing eyes. I thought Boots was wanting in so I went to the window to see two pairs of eyes staring at me. There was Boots and a raccoon standing beside him, both looking in the window together. What a site. Well accept one cat who terrorized him hE was so friendly that he didn’t realize how mean this other cat was. Because of this other cat he had several surgeries. One of the surgeries consisted of having his tail removed. This sound weird but if you knew Boots you would think he looked funny WITH A TAIL Each time he came so very close to death Ron would spoon feed him back to health. We tried to talk to the family of this other cat but they were not the listening kind. We could not keep Boots in the house at all times as he had been a stray. The vet said he would think we were punishing him. The last time he got bit he got another infection and finally we had to have him put down Christmas Eve 2003. This broke our hearts. We all miss him so much. He had away of opening up the front door to come in. Sometimes I hear the door and expect to see him. He would chew on my hair and lay on my head. What I wouldn’t do to have him here to do that again.

Does any one remember these?
While I was putting my files together for my sequel for ‘A Hairdresser’s Diary’ I came across these picture I was going to put in the book. So I thought I would see how many of you remember ever seeing these items. These where some of the items that were in the Dungeon of Beauty in the basement, of the hairdressing school I attended over 50 years ago. I cringe at the thought of having to use them today. We thought at one time they were so new and innovative.
I have included the paragraphs out of my book so you can relate to the pictures. If you still use these you need to update lol lol.
Here is the story.
Even the basement of the school was very interesting and informative. It housed a museum set up to teach us the history of hairdressing. In the far corner, sat a huge machine from the year 1928 that had been used for perming hair. It had wires hanging down from the top of a cylindrical dome. The wires conducted heat to brass rollers, which in combination with a solution permanently curled the hair. The solution used to make the curls was very harsh and damaging, but vanity out weighted the risks. The contraption looked like something from a science fiction movie, something used for torture, definitely not like a machine used for beauty. Against the cement wall was a long wooden table, lined with very old curling irons, these in their time were placed in hot coals or heated on a wood stove, then used to make ringlets or curls. These were Marcel irons, named after the inventor. A separate table held curlers made of rag strips with wires in the center. These folded over like a billfold to hold them in place once the hair was wrapped around them. There were wooden rollers made from durable hardwood and held in place with wire clamps. Weirdly crimped, twisted wires, shaped in elongated u shapes were used for hairpins. The collection even had an old-fashioned, heavy, bulky barber chair, which showed many years of service. Off to one side sat an antique hair dryer that looked like something from outer space with its large, oval-shaped ridged hood. There was a full table of hand-made wigs from the early 1900′s, giving us a wonderfully dramatic look into the past. There was much to learn from the instruments and many interesting stories hidden in the basement, or as we came to call it, the dungeon of beauty.

From my new book VERSIFY
I posted this poem from my new book VERSIFY. I think anyone who has ever moved will identify with these words.
New Friends
We moved to this fair town,
Not too very long ago,
We left behind our friends,
To make more as we go.
•
The sadness that we felt,
As the truck did pull away,
Would be replaced with joy,
At our new home far away.
•
The night of our goodbye party,
When we shed so many tears,
And the promise of writing letters,
And visits throughout the years.
•
And then when we are settled,
Into our new home town,
There’s that dreadful fear of loneliness,
Until new friends, we have found.
•
We faithfully write those letters,
Just as often as we plan,
But as the time does pass,
We write only when we can.
•
We never will forget you,
And we’ll surely keep in touch,
But having found new interests,
It won’t happen quite as much.
