Once in a blue moon...

... there are two full moons in one month. August 2012 is one of those lucky months for certain time zones.

To celebrate that, The Gauguin Connection will be available on Amazon.com for free on 1 September – for one day only!
Grab it, tell your friends about it, post it on your Facebook profile, and remember to read it!

Apparently this phenomenon will only take place again in July 2015. This makes tonight a very special night. Take a moment to look up and appreciate the beauty of the full moon.

I’m not superstitious. Not at all. Just today a neighbour stopped me just as I entered my building and would not chat to me over the threshold. He believes that shaking hands, giving gifts or simply chatting with a doorway separating us would bring bad luck. He stepped into my building and we chatted in the foyer for a few minutes before he left to walk his dog. It was charming.

I find superstitions very interesting. Most of them are taught to children in society’s attempt to warn, teach or instil certain values and beliefs. Others seem rather silly when you tell foreigners about it. But mostly I believe that we create our own luck. Hard work, good energy, kindness and consideration to others, and lots more hard work will come back to us. I will, however, also freely admit that this year I’ve bought national lottery tickets. Twice! And did not win. But I did try my luck.

Maybe I will sing to the moon tonight with the hope that it will bring more book sales, good reviews, but above all, good people to my life. Tomorrow it will be back to hard work!
