An interview with Magnus

Our publishers at Penguin have generously cited us as the “writers behind Magnus Flyte,” or made reference to Magnus Flyte as a pseudonym for “writers Christina Lynch and Meg Howrey.” We are not going to contradict them, but we generally prefer to think of ourselves as Magnus’s handlers. Or wranglers. Believe us, this is not always an easy task. The elusiveness of Mr. Flyte is legendary. We’re... Read more of this blog post »

City of Dark Magic by Magnus Flyte
"An unusual title, “City of Dark Magic” is the debut brainchild of Christina Lynch and Meg Howrey—writing under the pseudonym Magnus Flyte—and is a difficult book to classify into one specific genre. Murder and suspense are key, but dashes of paran..." Read more of this review »

"I received a ARC and couldn't have been happier because it sounded so interesting. Fortunately, I was not let down. I thought this book was a lot of fun to read. It wasn't too serious and yet it wasn't too fluffy either. I loved how it merged mode..." Read more of this review »

"Enormously good fun - loved it. To be read in the spirit in which it's clearly intended - not one for the po-faced. And yes, alchemy and nookie are closely related! Chapeau, ladies ;-)"

I love this series--fantastic historical details about turn of the century Vienna. Nothing flashy here, just meticulous research, well-drawn characters, and consistently interesting mysteries.

Stunningly beautiful writing. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Slowly, while no one is bothering you. Savor every word. It's not very long, but it's very, very good.

“Only the passionate were immortal, it seemed. If you fought, screwed, screamed, laughed, or otherwise experienced life intensely, for better or worse, you left a record. Those who lived a quiet, well-behaved, well-tempered life? Gone without a trace.”

“Prague. Praha. The name actually meant “threshold”. Pollina had said the city was a portal between the life of the good and … the other. A city of dark magic, Alessandro had called it.”
