Escape
The War Unicorn Chronicles Book 2
 By S. L. Carlson
15-year-old Ricky discovers from his companion, Thram, the Spikonians are invading their homeland. Transforming with the war unicorn, Neighbor, into one warrior-unicorn-man, they complete the two-week journey to the capital in just two days, only to discover it in ruins. Searching the rubble of his family’s home, Ricky reads part of a magic spell. As he speaks, the boy standing nearby sprouts a wing and collapses. Furious with Aldric’s irresponsible use of magic, Neighbor leaves him.Separated from the unicorn for the first time in over a year, Unicorn Keeper Ricky, refocuses and determines to set his family free, as well as all the captured citizens. However, Ricky’s plans change to urgency when he discovers the witch-magician Alyse seeks to kill his mother. He is only able to rescue a few family members, including his Spikonian brother-in-law, Drake. The clash between Ricky and Drake becomes more than about race, providing for emotionally packed dialogue with actions of love and hate, of family and singleness, of aloneness and belonging.

The war unicorn rejoins them to add her counsel. Ricky and Neighbor mend their fragile relationship as they journey through wilderness encounters with nature and mythical creatures.

In the meantime, castle-raised Lord Thram was given the responsibility of returning and protecting the dragon-raised Princess Celeste, missing for fourteen years. The feral princess is anything but civilized. But when the king’s consort, Lady Katrina, denies Thram palace entrance, he slips into his old habit of sneaking in the shadows where he discovers plots and deceptions.

Can Ricky and Thram complete their goals to once more unite in fighting evil?

Lone Star Book Blog Tours – Collision of Lies by Tom Threadgill

COLLISION OF LIES

byTOM THREADGILL

Genre: Contemporary Christian Suspense

Date of Publication: February 4, 2020

Three years ago, a collision between a fast-moving freight train and a school bus full of kids led to devastation and grief on an unimaginable scale. But a fresh clue leads San Antonio police detective Amara Alvarez to the unlikely conclusion that one of the children may still be alive. If she’s correct, everything law enforcement believes about the accident is a lie.

With time running out, Amara must convince others–and herself–that despite all evidence to the contrary, the boy lives. And she will do everything in her power to bring him home.

A fresh voice in suspense, Tom Threadgill will have you questioning everything as you fly through the pages of this enthralling story.

Threadgill plunges a detective from the San Antonio Property Crimes Division into a deep-laid plot involving murder, kidnapping, and myriad other crimes above her pay grade.”

Armed robbery, home breakin, even a shoplifter couldn’t ruin her day off. But this was asking too much for too little. She shrugged and bit into a thick piece of bacon. “A little overcooked today. Tell Ruby there’s a difference between crispy and charcoal.”

She leaned to the side and studied the couple. The woman wept while the man held her hand across the table.

“Deal,” he said. “Just go now, before we lose more business.”

The man glared at her before turning his attention back to woman across from him. “Sorry. My wife’s a little emotional this morning.”

“No, it’s not.” Tears trickled down her face and she pulled her hand from her partner’s, then dabbed her cheeks with a napkin.

Amara held up her hand. “Let her talk.” The corners of his mouth dropped, and he shifted his body to face the newcomer. “Who do you—”

Amara tilted her head toward the husband. “From him.”

“Police, remember?”

“Detective. And I really don’t want to get involved unless this is a police matter.”

His wife’s shoulders spasmed as another wave of hysterics neared.

“Do I?” The woman’s voice shook. “You sure let it go in a hurry, didn’t you?”

“She got a text this morning,” the husband said, “and it has her all stressed out. I told her to ignore it. Either a prank or wrong number. Not worth getting all worked up over.”

Amara turned to face the woman beside her. “Tell me about the text.”

Amara dangled her arm across the back of the seat. “Have you called your son to see if he’s okay?”

Journey To Osm – The Blue Unicorn's Tale Reader Review – Well Written Fantasy

Journey To Osm – The Blue Unicorn’s Tale
 Reader Review

By vermont reviewer

Sybrina Durant has brought to life in the pages of her story The Blue Unicorn’s Journey To Osm Illustrated a combination of fantasy and mythology. When Blue is born there is a prophesy spoken over him. One that foretells the saving of the tribe of unicorns. I also loved the illustrations throughout the story. Will Ghel help Blue realize his worth to the tribe? Can Girasol the firebird help find the way through the Muzika Woods. The answer to these questions and more about the unicorn tribe will be found by reading this well written story.

Genre: Contemporary YA

Retta Brooks thinks her life is on track after convincing her overprotective mom to stop home-schooling her and allow her go to Buckley High. She comes home from a night out with friends to find that her whole world has changed, and she has extremely hard decisions to make. Not to mention finding the answers to questions some people would rather she not know. Is she strong enough for what lies ahead?

Read an Excerpt

“Did he just hit us?” I asked, turning around. I couldn’t see anything behind us except the vague shape of a car with a silhouetted driver—it was so close the headlights weren’t visible.

“Yes!”

We were speeding up, already going way too fast for this road, but the car was still right on the truck’s bumper.

I clutched the dashboard as Jack tried zig-zagging a bit to shake the guy, but it didn’t work. Then the truck accelerated, and finally the guy fell back. Jack hit the brakes pretty hard, and I hit the door and was jerked to the floor as we took a corner sharply.

“Retta!” Jack yelled. “Are you okay?” He leaned over and gripped my arm, helping me back into the seat before speeding back up.

I put the seatbelt on before stealing a glance behind us. “I don’t see him.”

“No, I think he might not have made that corner. It’s what I was trying to do, but I never would have if I’d realized you didn’t have a seatbelt on!”

“I’m okay, it’s fine.” I shook my head, having to extricate myself from the top half of the seatbelt to pick up the phone off the floor.

Journey To Osm – The Blue Unicorn's Tale Reader Review – Believe

Journey To Osm – The Blue Unicorn’s Tale
 Reader Review

S.E.T
AMAZON UK

‘I had to learn to believe in myself.’

What a lovely line to end the narrative – but this is deeply representative of the trials we all face – in any situation.

I loved this story of Blue – saviour of the unicorns – but without metal or magic – or any belief in himself – the task he is destined to undertake since birth, seems hopeless.

This is a lovely tale of triumph over adversity, of the not so perfect stallion finding his courage in a sea of hostility.

It is written so beautifully, with exquisite drops of brilliance that you find in all classic fantasy fairytales, I can really see this as a Pixar animation.
