DENNIS THE CONQUEROR — SNIPPET 1

NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON! — “A REAL HERO KNOWS HOW TO RISE TO THE OCCASION”

I heard the woman’s voice again, but this time I was sure it was in my head. “Guardian!” She was calling out… to me?

I thought I was losing it, but a well-timed back-against-the-chair double-arm stretch by Sydney pulled me back from the brink. When Sydney was done restoring humanity, she started in on the test again. I glanced at the clock and realized I needed to get to it. I’d sort out whether I was crazy or not afte...

FORCED VENGEANCE — SNIPPET 1

NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON! — “SOMETIMES A GOOD PLAN GETS MUDDIED.”

The drop out of the fold in space was smooth, as usual, but Jake awoke seconds later to his ship’s frustrating sense of humor. His head rose a few inches above the padded roll on his bed shelf before coming back down with a thud. The pillow gave some protection against the solid surface beneath it, but not enough to keep him from experiencing the onset of a slight headache.

He groaned as he sat up and swung his legs over the sid...

TANGLED PERIL — SNIPPET 1

NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON! — “SOME DAYS ARE MUDDIER THAN OTHERS.”

Jake knew he didn’t care for the man standing in front of him when he first talked to the guy earlier that day. The dark-haired heavyset man had insisted Jake bring the package back to an abandoned storage yard on the edge of town. Jake had already flown his beloved ship Sarah across half the galaxy to make the delivery. That much was routine for him, but the guy’s insistence on a last-minute change to the drop-off site was the k...

DEADLY CARGO — SNIPPET 1

NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON! — “Firefly meets Jack Reacher, with a dose of Flash Gordon.”

The field drives faded, fixing the distorted ship in space a minute outside the projected orbital distance, and as the soothing hum of the drives ceased Jake woke from his typical in-flight nap. If anyone on the planet’s surface happened to be watching his arrival, they’d see the faded red nine-foot-high lettering on the side of the class 4 Tarian cargo vessel. GDS — Galactic Delivery Service. Twenty-three h...

Gearing Up and Getting Going

It’s January 18th, 2019, as I write this. Happy New Year to You!

I may jump around or ramble a little in this post. Yesterday, I had several cups of coffee while sitting in one of my new favorite coffee shops—it’s existed for a while, but I only recently discovered it. I imbibed those cups of elixir under the false impression the place would be open much later than 8pm. Prior to yesterday, I had gone there only on Fridays or Saturdays. Monday through Thursday hours differed. So, they politely...

It’s Not Christmas Yet!

[excerpted in part from my recent email newsletter]

I hope you are having a good holiday season. My family and friends recently enjoyed Thanksgiving. Plenty of food. I managed to make a turkey that wasn’t too dry. I have much to be thankful for, including readers. So, thanks to you for spending some time with my stories. I hope your November was a good one too. Now it’s December! I’ve nearly finished my Christmas shopping, but I have yet to put up my tree. That’s on the to-do list for sometim...
