Headed to Boston for OutliersBook 2 with best research partner...

Headed to Boston for OutliersBook 2 with best research partner ever. Which means I am done a first draft! And on to the stage where I need to find out if anything I have my characters doing is even remotely possible. First up? Can you ride a subway from downtown Boston to Harvard? Can you find some of this online? Sure, but no substitute for being there for real. Also, then I wouldn’t get to hang with her. (at AmtrakNewYorkPennStation)

Had an incredible time this past weekend in Denver for Winter Institute 2016! Winter Institute is the annual convention for Independent Booksellers. I feel so lucky that I got the chance to meet so many of them, learn about their lives and benefit from their wisdom about books and book selling.

Endless thanks to my publisher Harper Teen for bringing me along to talk up THE OUTLIERS!

Aside from meeting so many fabulous booksellers, highlights included getting to know all of the other incredible HarperCollins authors and getting an ARE signed by Louise Erdrich (who is just as lovely and ethereal as you all would imagine) and then “gulp” having to speak right before her. (I think I kind of blacked out from nerves.) Many thanks to everyone on the HarperCollins staff and to all the wonderful booksellers who shared their weekend with me!

(Biggest shock of the trip? Denver has a movie theatre-stacked on top of a bookstore. And if I miss my husband enough I will apparently watch FOOTBALL alone, in his absence. Note to self: never be away that long again; scary stuff can happen)
