Your Story Changes Lives

As a trauma survivor, I used to be burdened by my past experiences. Trauma pierces the heart. It is soul-crushing. Trauma can cause a person to disconnect from who they are. To diminish their beautiful essence.

Why? Because the negative memories, flashbacks, and triggers are overwhelming. Our society has a way of victim-shaming survivors. Or blaming them for the despicable acts of violence, which they are not even responsible for.

This is one reason why many victims of abuse do not disclose the truth about what happened. In most cases, the survivors are told to "get over it," to "move on," or they are discredited. For years, even decades, you may be silenced by those who have hurt you.

As an author, speaker, survivor, and advocate, I have been on an enlightening healing journey. I have learned that part of my recovery is to share my true story. In doing so, I have not only found my voice, but I have been humbled to help other survivor's to share their own story.

There is healing in the telling. There is healing in being a truth seeker. There is healing in setting healthy boundaries. There is healing in ending the generational cycle of abuse.

I don't know what you are currently going through. Perhaps, you are struggling with your own trauma wounds?

If so, please know that you are not alone. The abuse was not your fault. You did nothing wrong! Your story matters. And you deserve to heal.
