Divinity Bound In Blood #2
I have several projects that I'm working on these days. Last night I couldn't sleep. I knew though, that if I turned on my computer I would have another night with no rest. That didn't mean I could shut off the thought train that was traveling at mock speed through my head.
I was working out the rest of the plot for Divinity, which is the second book in my Bound In Blood (BIB) series. For the most part, I know what's going to happen with it, but there were a few things that still needed ironing.
I love Divinity. In some ways I even like it better than Clandestine. Don't get me wrong, I adore the first book and am anxiously waiting on pins and needles for peoples reactions to it. I think with Divinity it's just that the story is really taking off and it delves deeper into the plot.
It also gives Lucy Blake more of a chance to shine. For those of you who haven't read Clandestine yet, Lucy is Emily Jameson's (main character) best friend. She is a perky fun girl who has been blind since birth. Her outlook on life is amazing and she never lets anything get her down. Her sense of humor is laugh out loud funny even for me and I'm the one who created her.
Clandestine is based so much on Emily's introduction into the under-belly with the vampires that Lucy gets put on the back burner once things get rolling. You do get a tantelizing taste of her personality and charms, but don't get to know her fully until Divinity.
The plot of this one has so much going on that the twists and turns will leave people guessing and craving more. I'm working very hard to weave an intricate story and I know fans of this series are going to love it.
The book shifts back and forth between Emily and Lucy's prospectives. Clandestine was soully in Emily's head. With Divinity Lucy's role is so crucial to the story that she really needs her own voice for this one. Both girls are batteling struggles with family, love, friendship and of course... the vampires. In some ways there problems are similar. In others... well let's just say that the back story of Lucy required her own part.
Clandestine is so new that I am worried that if I say too much I will give something away for those of you who haven't read it. I will say that Divinity holds secrets that not even I thought would happen. The vampires are plotting their attack in a way far different from Clandestine and there is even a glimmer of humanity for one member of the undead club. Will he/she hold onto their soul? Or, will his or her battle against their own immortality win out leaving them as threatening as the rest? Not even I'm sure yet, but I'm excited to find out lol.
Emily is still trying to unwind the tangled mess of her life. She still has no idea what went wrong with her unnatural slayer upbringing. Most slayer children know what they are. Her and Tyler are the only one's that the senior slayer/mentor know about in their situation. Niether of them knew they were meant to be slayers. They hadn't been trained in defense strategies or endurance. All slayers are left in the dark to a point, that is until they reach a certain age. Even still, they are trained in subtle ways even if they don't know why. Why hadn't she been called to battle like the others? Did her parents have something to do with it? Or was she just wired wrong? Her mentor Alexander is trying hard to little avail to come up with answers to her questions.
Despite Lucy's blindness she has an uncanny ability of seeing things for what they really are. The only problem is that the thing she knows... she wishes she could forget. She doesn't want any part in this life, but can't ignore it. If she does, someone very close to her could die.
Obviously those are just tid-bits of different things happening with the plot, but I hope it at least interests you and makes you want to know more. In time I will reveal the book's cover and description, which will give you more of where the story is going. I also talk about Divinity as well as my other projects on my blog outside of Good Reads.
