Rafael’s hand was very warm and his handshake firm.
“Where are you headed?” Rafael asked.
“Iowa. If I can. I’ve been on standby forever.”
Sadness flitted across Rafael’s face. “I know how that is.”
“Oh, you too? Where are you trying to go?”
“Nowhere.” Rafael sighed. “I just come here to watch the airplanes.”
Considering Tom’s admission about magic in flight and cell phones, he was in no position to judge. “Are you into planes? As a hobby, I mean?” He was vaguely aware that just as some people were obsessive about cars or trains, some had a thing for aircraft. Freud would likely have a good explanation for that.
Rafael gazed out into the darkness. Tom could see Rafael’s reflection in the window. He looked very far away.
“I used to fly,” Rafael said quietly. “But I… I made mistakes. I was grounded. Now I can only watch.”
“Doesn’t that make it worse? Like being on a diet and visiting a bakery?”
After considering this for a few moments, Rafael shook his head. “No. It’s a reminder. A small consolation. Is there something you truly long for, Tom? With all your heart?”
Tom’s chest tightened. He stared down at his shoes and gave a small nod. “Yeah.”
“And do you avoid any mention of it? Or do you seek it out because even a shadow, even a tiny taste is better than nothing?”
Fine. Tom might have spilled about his magic hypothesis, but no way was he going to admit to this stranger that he regularly sniffled over the kinds of movies where the main couple ended up clinging tearfully to one another. Usually in the rain, for some reason. Sometimes one of them was dying or had to go to war, or some other tragic circumstances intervened, but it didn’t matter because they’d found True Love. Tom would further not admit that his Kindle was filled with books whose covers generally featured two naked male torsos floating over a landscape, books in which an HEA—or at least an HFN—was guaranteed.
“I don’t avoid it,” Tom admitted to his shoes.
For five, maybe ten minutes, they sat silently beside each other in the empty concourse, looking at the motionless planes outside. Tom imagined they looked like a scene in a film. Not a rom-com, but something moody and artsy. Coen brothers. Kubrick. Sofia Coppola? Maybe even something French.
Finally, Tom had a question. “To get this close to the planes, don’t you need a boarding pass to get through security?”
Rafael laughed gently. “It’s not a problem for me.”
Perhaps he still had his old ID, or else the security people knew him from his pilot days and let him through.
Tom scratched the stubble on his cheek. “Um, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but… are you grounded permanently? Or just for a while?”
“I’m not sure. I keep hoping my superiors will reconsider, but it’s been a long time.”
“I’m sorry,” Tom said sincerely.
“Thanks. I guess I’m sort of on standby too.” Rafael patted Tom’s shoulder and a very strange thing happened. Right through the stupid sport jacket that had been all wrong for the interview and the pale blue button-down that had been even worse, Tom felt a jolt where Rafael touched him. It was a little like getting zapped by static electricity, but it was more painful and more pleasant. Way more pleasant, actually, in a way that made Tom’s khakis (also totally wrong) immediately feel far too tight.
About the author
Kim Fielding is the bestselling author of numerous m/m romance novels, novellas, and short stories. Like Kim herself, her work is eclectic, spanning genres such as contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, and historical. Her stories are set in alternate worlds, in 15th century Bosnia, in modern-day Oregon. Her heroes are hipster architect werewolves, housekeepers, maimed giants, and conflicted graduate students. They’re usually flawed, they often encounter terrible obstacles, but they always find love.
After having migrated back and forth across the western two-thirds of the United States, Kim calls the boring part of California home. She lives there with her husband, her two daughters, and her day job as a university professor, but escapes as often as possible via car, train, plane, or boat. This may explain why her characters often seem to be in transit as well. She dreams of traveling and writing full-time.

An Interview With Sue Brown: Stolen Dreams Blog Tour and Giveaway
An Interview With Sue Brown
Welcome Sue. Since this is my first time interviewing you, start by telling everyone a bit about yourself.
Thank you for having me on your blog. I’m a mum of two teenagers and two dogs. They rule the house. I do what I’m told. I took a theology and religious studies degree five years ago and started MM romance about the same time. The degree certainly influenced my earlier stories. Now I’m working part-time for a publisher and trying to get back to writing on a regular basis.
You’ve been busy lately, by my count, this newest release, Stolen Dreams, is the third of four releases in a four month span. How do you manage to do all that?
I do try to get out a book a month because this is the bulk of my income. However in the last few months two of the books, Stolen Dreams and Chance to be King, have been ex-Silver releases. If they are Dreamspinner books they were submitted the middle of last year. It looks as if it all comes at once, but in reality most of them were written months ago and a couple five years ago.
Tell us about Stolen Dreams. What inspired you to write this?
Initially this was a fanfic prompt. The trouble was it took me a long time to write and by that time I was writing MM. Also I’m so bad at writing to order. This was never going to be the story that was requested but it has shades of it.
Stolen Dreams deals in part with the main character cheating on someone. Given how much romance readers tend to dislike that in their books, how did you handled it?
I wanted people to know up front that this was a book about cheating and there were no easy answers. It’s not a surprise to the reader. Even the fact that Morgan was now engaged to Jase made it complicated. I know many people won’t read it as it’s a trigger subject, but I write about life, and cheating happens, complex emotions happen.
What part of the book was the most fun to write and why?
The coffee shop scenes with Elroy. He’s a klutz but a fun klutz to have around. I loved the banter with him throughout the book.
What part made you struggle the most?
Having the conversations about the cheating. I’m not keen on books where one of the characters does something bad and it’s all forgiven in two paragraphs. I want readers to understand that Morgan screwed up big time but it’s not as simple as that. These conversations take most of the book.
Tell us something interesting that is not in the blurb?
The blurb pretty much covers the book. Coffee, secrets and lies. Hot sex. My original editor pointed out that coffee appeared in the book many many times. She wanted to change it up a bit. It’s one of the few times I’ve said over my dead body to an editor.
What’s your favorite part of the writing process?
Apart from typing the last word? Reading something I’ve just written and loving it.
What’s your least favorite?
Mid-plot droop. It happens all the time. I have the beginning, I have the end, but part-way through my mojo vanishes and I lose interest.
What have you read lately that most people haven’t read but should?
John Inman – Payback. Every word held me. Again no easy answers.
If you could meet any writer, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
David Eddings, so I could tell him how much his fantasy stories meant to me.
What’s a fun – non-writing – day for you?
Um… Doesn’t happen very often. A visit to Brighton to eat fish and chips on the beach and play on the pier. Doesn’t matter what time of year it is, we really enjoy it.
Besides reading and writing, what else do you enjoy?
I walk my doggies, Faith and Tyler. As I don’t post pics of my kids online, I post the mutts instead. Usually mid-walk when there are muddy or when they’re fast sleep in odd positions.
Since there is always another story to tell, what are you working on now?
A regency series, a crime series, a couple of contemporary stories and a western series.
Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything you want your readers to know about you, your book, anything at all.
I’m easily bribed by chocolate or coffee.
Thanks for being my guest today, Sue.

Sue discovered M/M erotica at the time she woke up to find two men kissing on her favorite television series. The series was boring; the kissing was not. She may be late to the party, but she’s made up for it since, writing fan fiction until she was brave enough to venture out into the world of original fiction.

Writing MM Romance with a Happy Ever After…
I am in awe that people read my writing and thank you all for taking the time to read, rate and review. Rj xxxxx
About me…I live in the UK just outside London. I love reading anything from thrillers to sci-fi to horror; however, my first real love will always be the world of romance. My goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and more than a hint of happily ever after.

About Vicktor Alexander:
Vicktor Alexander “Vic” wrote his first story at the age of 10 about his youngest sister and her destruction of the world…with her breath. Much to his youngest sister’s dismay the story was a hit and became the first story of a series all dealing with the planets that were destroyed by his siblings and their strange quirks and body odors. Vic now enjoys writing about shifters, humanoids, cowboys, firemen, rent boys, fairies, elves, dancers, doctors, Doms, Subs, and anything else that catches his fancy, all sexy men falling in love with each other and having lots of naughty, dirty, man-on-man sex. Author of the best-selling series, The Tate Pack, Vic is a huge fan of the “happily-ever-after” ending. But while his characters all ride off into the proverbial sunset, all sexually satisfied and in love, they all bear the scars of fighting for that love, just like in real life. Out and proud, Vic does not believe that love only comes in one form, one race, one gender and that not only is gender fluid, by sexuality as well. Vic loves to make people laugh and when he’s not writing, or rather, procrastinating in writing, he’s reading, playing the Sims 3, hanging out with his very supportive adopted family, talking to his adopted daughter, whom he affectionately calls “Chipmunk”, seeking the man or men who can handle his crazy, stressful, soap opera-esque life and being distracted from his writing by drooling over pictures of John Barrowman, Scott Hoying, Charlie David and Shemar Moore.
About Nicole Dennis:
Ever the quiet one growing up, Nicole Dennis often slid away from reality and curled up with a book to slip into the worlds of her favorite authors. Over the years, she’s created a personal library full of novels filled with dragons, fairies, vampires, shapeshifters of all kinds, and romance. Always she returned to romance. Still, there were these characters in her head, worlds wanting to be built on paper, and stories wanting to be told and she began writing them down whether during or after class. She continues to this day. Only recently has it begun to become fruitful, spreading out to let others read and enter her worlds, meet her characters, and see what she sees. No matter what she writes, her stories of romance with their twists of paranormal, fantasy, and erotica will always have their Happily Ever Afters.
She currently works in a quiet office in Central Florida, where she also makes her home, and enjoys the down time to slip into her characters and worlds to escape reality from time to time. At home, she becomes human slave to a semi-demonic tortie calico.
She loves to hear from readers and fans, so don’t be shy. Find her on the net or send an email.

About Jackie Nacht
Short, sexy and sweet—where a little love goes a long way.
That’s the best way to describe Jackie Nacht’s stories. She was introduced to M/M Romance through her sister, Stephani, and read it for years. Then, she thought it was time to put her own stories on paper. She began writing short and sweet stories that ended with a happily ever after.
Thinking back to her own book addiction, where there were many nights she stayed up way too late so she could read just one more chapter—yeah, right—she decided to write short romances for young adults as well as adults. Hopefully, they will give high school and college students or working men and women something they can read during their lunch hour, in between classes or just when they want to briefly get away from the daily stresses of everyday life.

An Interview With Lane Hayes, Author of The Wrong Man
Welcome back, Lane. It’s been a while since you were here. How have you been and what are you up to these days?
Hi Andy! Thank you for having me back! I’ve been busy… very busy. I decided at the beginning of 2014 to devote 100% of my time to writing, which has been so thrilling. There have been some adjustments because let’s be honest, writing can be a lonely job, but the perks far outweigh any negatives (pjs till noon, etc).
You were at GRL this past year, (we never got to take our picture, so I’ll be stalking you next time) how was that experience?
GRL was a fantastic experience. It was my first time and it was a rush to talk about a genre I’ve loved for a few years with people who share my interest. And it was especially cool to meet some who actually knew my name! :) We’ll take that picture for sure this year in San Diego, Andy.
The Wrong Man, was released on February 6th. Take a few sentences to talk about that.
![WrongMan[The]FS](https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/hostedimages/1423659762i/13655150.jpg) The Wrong Man is book #2 in the Right & Wrong Stories series. It is Brandon’s story. Those who’ve read The Right Words will remember he is Luke’s best friend and God, he is so fabulous! He was one of those characters you just know needs his own story. Brandon is very a confident, out and proud gay man who gets coerced (or “bamboozled” as he says) into watching a dog for one of his employees. Mack turns out to be a 13yr old yellow Lab whose owner is a man named Jake… the same Jake who broke Bran’s heart 12 years ago when they were secret lovers in high school. Against his better judgment, a new friendship is formed and yes… the attraction is stronger than ever.

This is part of the Right and Wrong Series. Can we expect a third—or more—in the series?
Yes, The Right Time is coming this summer! This is Alex’s story. I’ve been toying with a Book #4 in the series, but I have another series to begin first.
How did it feel leaving the ‘Better Than’ series for a new one?
I love my DC boys but it’s a healthy thing for an author to shift focus and try something new. I don’t want to only be known for writing one series or God forbid, the series that never ends. The Right & Wrong Stories has given me a chance to tackle some difficult topics with a fresh voice. However… there will be a book #4 in the Better Than Stories. :)
Tell us something interesting that is not in the blurb?
Tell us something interesting that is not in the blurb? The 13 yr old yellow Lab in The Wrong Man is based on my dog, who is the same age and is also diabetic. Every little old age issue in the book comes directly from personal experience.
Do you have any actors in mind who you’d want to play your characters if they made it a movie?
Ohh. Good question! If Sean O’Pry, mega beautiful model, ever decides to take up acting, he is definitely Jake! Brandon is harder for me to cast because whoever played him would truly have to be fabulous and special!

What’s next from you?
I’m currently wrapping up Book #4 in Better Than and then I’m moving on to a new series in a new city. I’m looking forward to it!
Now for some random questions:
What have you read lately that you’d recommend to others?
I’m currently reading Kade Boehme’s A Chance of the Heart. Very good! And not too long ago, I finished reading A Closed Door by none other than Andrew Q. Gordon. I loved it! J
[image error] Favorite Vacation spot?
I have two… New York City and Maui
Something you look forward to doing (doing again) when the kids are out of the house?
Traveling more. I’d love to just hop on the road or catch a plane at the last minute and go see something new.
Favorite indulgence?
Too easy… reading.
You travel back in time to give advice to your younger self, what age do you go and what do you tell yourself?
I’d encourage my teenage self to not be so self conscious or afraid to try new things.
Boxers or Brief? (interpret it as you like.)
LOL. There’s only one way I’m interpreting this! Boxer briefs. :)
Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything you want your readers to know about you, your book, anything at all.
You asked so many great questions, I don’t have much to add but I will say The Wrong Man is a very special book to me because of the personal elements. I’m not an over the top dog owner but our 13 yr old Lab is a beloved member of our family. When he was diagnosed with diabetes, we were sure it the end and we were heartbroken. That was a year ago and he’s doing so well now. He’s partially blind, sleeps all the time and slips on hardwood flooring just like Mack in the story but he is still so spry and happy. As Brandon found out in The Wrong Man, animals have the most amazing capacity to give unconditionally and to teach life lessons when we’re sure we’re the ones with the answers. Here’s a recent photo of our Mack:

When Jake Westley relocates to join the WeHo fire department, the last thing he anticipates is reuniting with his secret high school love. Thrilled with the prospect of reconnecting with Bran, Jake feels no guilt in using his charming old dog as an unwitting matchmaker. As they rekindle their friendship, it becomes clear the intense attraction they once felt is stronger than ever. But as hard as they try to leave the past behind, painful memories resurface. Bran will have to confront his fears and consider the possibility that the man he swore was absolutely the wrong one might be perfect after all.

The Last Grand Master; by Andrew Q. Gordon
Champion of the Gods: Book One – 2nd Edition
In a war that shook the earth, the six gods of Nendor defeated their brother Neldin, god of evil. For three thousand years, Nendor and the Seven Kingdoms have known peace and prosperity and Neldin’s evil was nearly forgotten.
But then Meglar, wizard king of Zargon, unleashes the dark magic of the underworld and creates an army of creatures to carry out his master’s will. One by one, the sovereign realms fall as a new war between the gods threatens to engulf Nendor.
Leading the opposition to Meglar is Grand Master Farrell. Young and untried, Farrell carries a secret that could hold the key to defeating Meglar—or it could destroy the world. Farrell is joined by Nerti, queen of the unicorns and Miceral, an immortal muchari warrior the Six have chosen as Farrell’s mate. As Farrell and his new allies make plans to counter Neldin’s evil, Meglar forces their hand when he invades a neighboring kingdom. Rushing to help their ally, Farrell and Miceral find themselves in the middle of the battle. Cut off from help, Farrell attempts an untried spell that will either turn the tide or cost he and Miceral their lives.

“The author has written an enthralling character and plot driven story with a plot that flows beautifully and smoothly from beginning to end. The level of complexity and the in-depth knowledge that went into the world building of this superb book makes it totally believable and you find yourself swept up and pulled into the lives of the characters and hoping they are able to overcome the obstacles and evil that threatens to destroy their freedom and their way of life.”

Being somewhat crazy, I signed on to two different overlapping tours—I figured if DSP Publications was giving away a Kindle I should let them have their money’s worth. The tour from Creative Minds Promotions is an Excerpt Tour. Each stop will have a different excerpt from the book. (Shira Anthony also had me answer some questions for her post.) The second tour from Pump Up Your Book, has various types of post and they are listed next to the link. You can find the giveaway link on each of the tour stops.

An Interview With Lynn West – Editor in Chief with Dreamspinner Press
Welcome Lynn.  Thanks for agreeing to answer a few questions today. Coincidentally—or not really since I set the dates for interviews—today is the release of my first novel with DSP Publications. So thank you for believing in me enough to publish my books.
Welcome Lynn.  Thanks for agreeing to answer a few questions today. Coincidentally—or not really since I set the dates for interviews—today is the release of my first novel with DSP Publications. So thank you for believing in me enough to publish my books.
Thank you for inviting me, Andrew. It’s a pleasure to have you with us at Dreamspinner Press and DSP Publications.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your work with Dreamspinner Press and DSP Publications.
I’ve done a little bit of everything with Dreamspinner Press through the years, being one of the founders. But I settled into my skillset (and comfort zone) by developing, building, and growing the Editorial Department. It’s a never-ending work in progress; I’m always looking for ways to increase and improve services for the authors and making the publication experience as positive as possible for everyone involved. It could be anything from making sure an author has certain information on hand before production even starts, to how much and what type of editing a book receives, to tweaking our design work. DSP Publications is part of that, as is Harmony Ink Press. I’m also heavily involved in our Submissions Department processes, especially for DSP Publications.
DSP Publications is a different LGBT imprint, talk about what makes it special.
DSP Publications is a different LGBT imprint, talk about what makes it special.
Special is the right word. We want each book published by DSPP to be singular, an extraordinary experience for readers, a book that a reader just can’t put down or simply has to post about on Facebook or Twitter, it was so incredible. Some of these are books that were so good when we first found them that we took a chance on them at the romance imprint, and now we want to see them reach a different, and possibly more genre receptive, audience. We’re picking books we love, because we think other readers will love them too.
How has the response been to titles DSP Publications has released so far? Are you seeing a broader buying audience?
We’ve been really happy to see new books hitting the top ten on mystery, horror, and urban fantasy bestseller lists—even before their publication date. This happened with John Inman’s Willow Man. We are also seeing active registration on the DSPP website, with 40% of sales being customers that aren’t registered on the Dreamspinner site. I think that shows that we’re getting the press’s name and books out there in front of people, and we’ll keep working on that.

You were in charge of editing with Dreamspinner Press, how different is it now that you’re involved in the nuts and bolts of running the DSP Publications imprint?
I’m seeing a lot more of the other departments, that’s for sure. Launching DSPP has meant closer coordination with the Art Department and Distribution, as well as being an available resource to help guide the authors’ group and learning enough about marketing and promotion to point the authors in someone else’s direction. Building DSPP’s schedule around a promotional plan was an interesting challenge, and I’m glad we pursued it. I’ve had to expand the editorial production model to accommodate that, including encouraging authors to take part in macro (big picture) editing, deepening the one-on-one partnerships between authors and their senior editors, developing elements of story material early in the process to facilitate creating more advance promotional materials. And now I’m even translating some of those changes to Dreamspinner and Harmony Ink.
What’s the hardest part about being a publisher?
What’s the hardest part about being a publisher?
Seeing a phenomenal book published and not find the success it deserves because it doesn’t fit the gay romance market niche quite right. That was one of the driving forces behind creating DSP Publications: to better market books to find that success.
Give authors one piece of advice when dealing with their publishers?
Don’t be afraid. Publishing is a public partnership—not a silent one—and we want you to ask questions, collect information, and stay involved in each aspect of the production of your publication every step of the way. You’ll never know what’s possible if you don’t ask.
What types of submissions is DSP Publications most interested in receiving right now?
DSPP isn’t open to unsolicited submissions at this time. I’m mainly focusing on working with successful authors who want to take part in expanded promotion efforts so we can build the imprint name. However, I have been known to pull a submission or two from the Dreamspinner pot, since I’m looking for a certain amount of speculative fiction variety. In general, I’d really like some meaty suspense thrillers and classic whodunit mysteries, and perhaps a few classic historical tales and pure science fiction adventures.

What’s your favorite part of the job?
Getting happy feedback from authors at the end of production. It’s a lot of hard work on both sides, and knowing they’re pleased at the end is worth the time and effort.
If you could meet any writer, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
If you could meet any writer, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Ursula Le Guin. Her books were among the first to catapult me into the science fiction and fantasy genres, inspiring a devotion to reading that exists to this day.
Besides reading and publishing, what else do you enjoy?
I don’t have spare time for much, but beyond the standard “spending time with family and friends” answer, I’ll say that I do enjoy playing bridge and pinochle, as well as several genre board games like Seven Wonders, Firefly, and Battlestar Galactica. I also follow several TV shows (thank heaven for DVR) and have been known to degenerate into a fangirl. I’m told it’s quite hysterical. When I’m really feeling adventuresome, I’ll surf the black hole that is Pinterest to research what tattoo I want to get next. I have a love/hate relationship with traveling: I love to visit, but I’m such a homebody that it’s only a short time before I’m ready to be at home.

Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything at all.
Dreamspinner Press would like to thank all the authors and readers out there who are already supporting DSP Publications. We’ve received such an outpouring of positive thanks and encouragement. We hope you’ll continue to spread the word.
Thank you, Lynn for being my guest today.

Cover Reveal – True Brit; by Con Riley

Cover Reveal – True Brit; by Con Riley
Blurb:
Winning the United Kingdom’s favorite singing contest is a challenge for half-Afghani Pasha Trueman. He doesn’t have the best voice, but success would be life-changing. His strategy is simple—he’ll make the British public love him.
Ex-soldier Ed Britten has a different agenda. Winning means he’ll keep a promise made after a deadly Afghan ambush. His voice is his weapon, but he leaves his heart unguarded.
Ed and Pasha’s discovery that the contest isn’t a fair fight calls for creative tactics. Staging a fake love story could bring victory, only there’s more at stake than the prestigious first prize. If winning means surrendering each other, they could both end up losing.

Excerpt:
Ed and Pahsa discover that winning the Brit Pop! contest will take more than singing their hearts out. In this excerpt, Ed discusses a new plan of attack with Pasha:
Ed put down his mug and stepped much closer. The toes of his boots touched the tips of Pasha’s scruffy knock-off Converse trainers. “Is that really what you think we need to do all of the time from now on? Be affectionate whenever there might be a camera or people around? Verbally, I mean. And act like we’re….”
“In love?”
Did Pasha usually sound so breathless? Ed tilted his head to one side and tracked the quick flick of Pasha’s tongue wetting his lower lip.
“That’s…” Pasha hesitated, “that’s exactly what I think we should do. And I don’t think verbal affection on its own will cut it either. We should… we should probably touch. A lot. But naturally, you know? As if we have a hard time keeping our hands off each other.”
“Like this?” Ed reached for the half-full mug Pasha clutched to his chest and made sure both his hands covered Pasha’s for an extended moment as he slowly took it from him.
“Yeah.”
“And like this?” Ed pushed the strands of hair covering Pasha’s eyes to one side. “Hi.”
This time Pasha slowly smiled instead of answering.
“And what about if we hold hands?” Ed awkwardly threaded his fingers through Pasha’s. “Is that too much, do you think?”
Pasha shook his head. “No.” He cleared his throat. “No, that’s exactly what I meant by natural.” He tugged his fingers away and wiped his palms on his trousers as if they were sweaty. “You’re taking to this much faster than I thought you would.”
There wasn’t much Ed wouldn’t do to get to the finals.

Con Riley lives on the wild and rugged Devonshire coast, with her head in the clouds, and her feet in the Atlantic Ocean.
Injury curtailed her enjoyment of outdoor pursuits, so writing fiction now fills her free time. Love, loss, and redemption shape her romance stories, and her characters are flawed in ways that makes them live and breathe.
When not people watching, or wrangling her own boy band of teen sons, she spends time staring at the sea from her kitchen window. If you see her, don’t disturb her—she’s probably thinking up new plots.

An Interview With SJD Peterson
And while I’m sure most of you who read my have seen this picture, here’s the one I managed to get with Jo at GRL. I was every bit as happy as I looked in the picture.
And while I’m sure most of you who read my have seen this picture, here’s the one I managed to get with Jo at GRL. I was every bit as happy as I looked in the picture. So with as a back drop, I asked Jo again to do my author spotlight and as luck would have, she has a brand new free release out yesterday – Mauled – a Guards of Folsom Story. So read the interview and find out more about what Jo is up to and her newest release.
Welcome back, Jo. It’s been a while since you were here. Aside from the cold Michigan weather how have you been?
Hi Andy and it’s always a pleasure snuggling up with you on your blog. :) I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it but I hate winter, like seriously hate it so not much going in in my world but hiding from the cold and snowing and writing my little fingers to the bone.
I hear you’re branching out – or should I say returning to an old tree limb – and writing M/F romance. How’s that going?
Actually, I’m not quite ready to branch out to M/F Romance just yet. I might in the near future but right now I’m sticking with MMF since… Well you know me, nothing sexier than two alpha males rolling around all hot and sweaty. I’m just adding a bit of girly bits into the mix.
How is that effecting your MM Romance? (Because if you abandon us, I’m going to be at the head of the protest committee. :) )
Never would I abandon you or any of my MM Romance readers. SJD’s books will always be my priority. I have lots in the mix. I’m waiting to hear if two books will be contracted with DSP. One is my first paranormal, Innocence to the Max (The full novel) and I co-authored a crazy rock band novel with S.A. McAuley. Plus I have plenty others in the works. No protest committee needed :)
Rival Within, was released on December 29th. Take a few sentences to talk about that.
Rival Within was inspired by a video I came across while doing research for another book. It was made by a police department in cooperation with a public school system called “Boys Beware”. In 1950 a police officer actually took this trash around to schools and showed it to young girls and boys. It broke my heart and Thomas Webber was born. He’s a husband, father, cop and he’s also gay.
How was the reader feedback?
Well, it’s a bit crazy. This book isn’t being read too much. I think the historical tag is scaring peeps away. I don’t really think of the 1950’s as historical but eh. The few feedbacks I’ve gotten have been awesome. One review site even said it was one of their favorite book of 2014 so I’m totally stoked. :)
Let’s talk, Guards of Folsom. Start with the series, what this about?
When I completed the Whispering Pines series, I realized that everyone but Ty & Blake got their happily ever after. So, as a thank you to those who read the series I wrote Riveted. It’s Ty and Blake’s life in New York as owners of a BDSM club called Guards of Folsom and the rest they say is history. The first person outside of Ty & Blake the reader meets is Micah. I utterly fell in love with the character and PUP was his chance to shine…or is that chase the shiny?
Mauled, the latest installment in the Guards series came out yesterday and it’s Free! Tell everyone a bit about Mauled.
It’s funny how this one came about. Jodi, a fan of Mac & Gunny wanted them to visit the GoF. My first thought was, that’s dumb. However, I realized that this is Jo’s world and in it I can do whatever I want. So thanks to Jodi (It so was not a dumb idea) Mac & Gunny from Beyond Duty visited the Guards of Folsom while on their honeymoon. If you’re a fan of them, you don’t have to read the GoF series to know what’s going on.
Tell us something interesting that is not in the blurb?
There may be a wayward double headed dildo with a mind of it’s own. (Oh can I say dildo on your site?) ;)
It’s safe for now. At least until ‘lil q learns to read.
Do you have any actors in mind who you’d want to play your characters if they made it a movie?
I haven’t really thought about actors, but hmmm… Wow I don’t even know. I don’t watch much TV and rarely do I watch movies so I’ll have to get back to you on this one.
What’s next from you?
In addition to the two I mentioned above, I’ve also got the next and final book in the GoF series BOUND coming out later this year as well as the next book in the Rough Rangers series called Sua Sponte.
Now for some random questions:
What have you read lately that you’d recommend to others?
I have to admit I have been ignoring Stephen King’s advice of “Write, write, write, read, read, read.” At least the reading part. Between deadlines and edits and co-authored books I’m writing about 12-16 hours a day some days. So once again I’ll have to get back to you on this one. (I so suck at interviews don’t I?)
Favorite sport?
Detroit Red Wings all the way baby!!!!!!!
Cream & Sugar or Black?
Extra Large Double Double Timmie’s is my favorite poison.
A genie gives you one wish, what do you want?
Hmmm, I think I’d ask for a really cool secluded cabin in the woods (with WiFi of course) so I can keep doing what I’m doing with less destractions. :)
Favorite indulgence?
Well, besides the Tim Hortons addiction I’d have to say gay porn, I mean researching my next book heheheh.
You travel back in time to give advice to your younger self, what age do you go and what do you tell yourself?
I wouldn’t give her any advice. The stupid mistakes she is going to make and the hard times she endures will eventually lead to where I am now and I wouldn’t change a thing. I have the greatest job in the world, amazing friends and the best fans ever!
Top or Bottom? (interpret it as you like.)
Pfft everyone knows I’m a total top ;)
Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything you want your readers to know about you, your book, anything at all.
Ugh, now you’re really putting me on the spot here…. Ummm…. Well….Did I mention I like porn? ;)
You might have, but what the heck, it’s always worth mentioning :P
Thanks for having me on your blog. It’s always a pleasure to chat with you and looking forward to seeing you and many other DSP authors in Orlando! ~Hugs~
Thanks, Jo!
