Breaking the Chain Teaser
That's right! It's time! I have enough for a teaser =) Super stoked about this book. I'll admit, I haven't done a whole ton of writing on it in the past few weeks but it's def where all my focus is now =) WOOT!
4 pm.Leigh stared at her phone. She'd been texting Jared at this time, every day, for weeks until yesterday. They'd been... not dating exactly, but not not dating. Ugh. Being single was so confusing. They'd been seeing each other. Talking every day. She hadn't realized how much she'd come to rely on sending him a stupid joke at 4pm, every day, and getting some kind of response from him until yesterday, when it hadn't happened. It was like a craving.Just text him.Friends could still text each other. And Jared had said that no matter what happened, he still wanted to be friends. Leigh wanted that too.She didn't blame him for needing some space. His ex, Marissa, had turned up on his doorstep, promising him everything he'd ever wanted from her. They had seven years of history together. Seven years of effort, of trying to make their relationship work. She and Jared had been seeing each other, sort of, for maybe a couple months? Yeah, in a romance novel, Marissa and Jared would be the main story line. The second chance romance. The woman who realizes everything she's about to lose and goes to make the effort to keep her man. Leigh would be the other woman. The stalker 'date' who wouldn't let go. The bad guy. Leigh's own story line was much more depressing. Definitely not a romance. Lately it kind of felt like a soap opera. She was the girl no one wanted. Not even the guy she'd been trying to make things work with for seven years. Michael, her ex-boyfriend, the man she'd thought was the love of her life, her soulmate, her everything, hadn't been satisfied with just her. He'd wanted to date other women. To know what it was like to have sex with other women. Until this most recent break up, they'd only ever had sex with each other.Since the break up, Leigh had slept with a couple of guys. Enough to know that, while sex could be fun without emotion, she preferred it with. It was definitely more fun with. Unfortunately, Michael didn't want to get back together and the only other guy that she'd started to feel emotions for... well, they hadn't gotten that far before his ex had shown up on the scene.Ugh. Lucky bastard. It didn't really hurt that much. Compared to having her heart ripped out of her chest and crushed by Michael, this little scratch by Jared was next to nothing. She'd cried a little bit over it, of course. She really did like Jared and she felt a little bruised, but she also felt happy for him. Jared deserved to be happy and she was glad that his story was getting the fairy tale ending it deserved. She might have also cried a little bit because she was envious. Part of her wanted to scream - why him? Why not me?What was it about Jared that had brought Marissa back to him that Leigh didn't have? Why didn't Michael want her back?Yeah, he called sometimes. Yeah, he'd been pissed about her sleeping with other guys - although she thought that might be because, so far, he hadn't managed to do the same with another woman. But he didn't want her back even though he didn't want her with other guys. But he wasn't willing to give up trying to date other women. Asshole wanted to have his cake and eat it too.Sometimes she really hated him.Yet, she knew that if he'd come back... would she have given up Jared? The idea of completely giving up on Michael was so foreign to her. They'd been through so much together. She still missed him, as if he was a limb that had suddenly dropped off. Michael hadn't just been her boyfriend, he'd been her best friend. She still found herself wanting to call him when something funny happened to her. Or to pick up a six pack of his favorite seasonal beer when she was at the store. Having Jared had helped a lot with all of that. Was she just sad because Jared was a distraction from Michael and now he was gone? No. It might be partly that, but it was so much more complicated. Spending time with Jared had made her happy. He didn't try to change her. He didn't judge anything she said. Michael's job had started to grind away at their relationship; he'd wanted her to look differently, act differently, from the person she'd always been, to be the person he thought she needed to be in order to help him advance. She'd tried, she really had, but she'd felt so stifled. So boxed in. Being with Jared made her feel free, especially because he really seemed to like who she was. He liked it when she was silly. It made him laugh and that made her feel good because she liked to see him laugh...Ah fuck it.She was going to text him.But what? A joke didn't seem quite right... maybe a quote... or a funny picture...Ten minutes later, Leigh was still scrolling almost aimlessly through her phone when she finally saw it. The exact perfect thing to send. Her stomach churned with anxiousness as she typed it out, but when she hit the send button, her shoulders felt lighter too. No matter what, at least she'd reached out. At least she'd tried. She and Jared could still be friends. They hadn't gone very far with the whole dating thing anyway. Leigh didn't want to just give up, she wanted to keep him as a friend. Not to mention, it could make their whole social group very awkward if they weren't.
Still, she vowed to herself that if he didn't text back, or if he didn't seem that enthused about her texting him, she would let it go. Not cling. Not try to hold onto something that wasn't there. She wasn't going to be the villainess in his story.

I'm back!
I'm back from DragonCon!
My head is still not on straight though. It's all cosplaycosplaycosplay up in here. Doesn't help that I have a possible photo shoot this upcoming weekend and a definite one next weekend, and then a wedding to go to in Denver the weekend after that! EEP. Talk about overscheduling myself. UGH. Why do I do this?
I've told my friends that I'm a cosplay masochist because I always choose complicated shit (which is kind of good cuz it's always pushing me to learn new things and improve) but now I'm starting to think that maybe I'm a life masochist too.
MY MASOCHISM TRANSCENDS INTO ALL ASPECTS OF MY LIFE!
So, good news, something new is coming out soon, mostly because I had nothing to do with it! I'm reviewing the audio book for The Venus School and so far it's sounding AMAZING. Love the girl who's doing the reading, I think she's got a super sexy voice. I've just gotta finish the review and approve the book so hopefully that should be available sometime next week! YAY! If it seems like it's something people are into, hopefully she'll be willing to do the second book as well =)
In the meantime... I've overscheduled my writing stuff as well. Because I'm a writing masochist. My main focus is on Breaking the Chain, but I also have a commissioned work that I've gotta finish by next Friday, as well as trying to finish Marriage Training for the poor writing agent who has been waiting fricking forever. On the side I also have the reader requests for Literotica, my next Dark Angel book, and a surprise book that I'm hoping to have up for pre-sales by March (my first pre-sales book!) that will release April 1st.
All this while doing my usual life stuff of fall Renn Fair, cosplay, friends' birthdays (I swear, they were all born in the fall!), my wedding anniversary (this month), holidays. spending time with friends and family, and my day job.
#transcendentmasochism
But like a true masochist... I do it because I love it. Even when it hurts.

Website & Stuff
I have a website! It's not complete yet, but it's got some stuff up already - http://goldeniangel.squarespace.com/
Hopefully I'll have time to complete it soon =)
Things have been crazy! Philip's Rules is doing really well, and going by the reviews people are excited by it which is awesome! It has seven 5-Star reviews on Amazon US already, which I SUPER appreciate. I am definitely looking forward to the next one, Gabrielle and Felix's story, but before that we're heading back to modern times and Stronghold! I just got started on Leigh and Jared again and I'm already enjoying myself, which is great =) It's a little hard to get back into the modern mindset, but it's good for me too. And meanwhile, Gabrielle and Felix are percolating a little bit.
I think one of my favorite things about writing is that I don't always know where the stories are going to go. Philip and Cordelia ended up having a kink that I'd never planned on - naughty couple that they are - which was a lot of fun. Gabrielle acted out in different ways than expected, leading to some of the twists. My plot outlines are ever changing!
As evidenced by the beginning of Breaking the Chain. I'm still in the first chapter and Leigh and Jared have already deviated some from the plotline... partly because they're doing their own thing instead of what I had originally based the plot line on, which was the beginning of mine and hubby's relationship. Making their own decisions and what not, which is certainly not a bad thing! It's just funny to me how the characters can really end up messing around with my plans =D I like it that way though, because I figure if I'm surprised by what they're doing, then you guys will be too!
Anyway, I'm going to give it another week and then I'll be posting my first teaser for Breaking the Chain =) In the meantime, keep enjoying Philip's Rules! Tell your friends! Leave reviews! lol.

Happy Birthday / Release Day To Me!
It's my birthday and Philip's Rules is now available!
Married once to a Baron who needed a young bride to bear him an heir, Cordelia Astley found herself in an untenable situation after his death until Philip Stanley, the Marquess of Dunbury, asked her to be his bride. She knows he didn't marry her for love, but he was her white knight and, once they're married, she finds herself falling in love with him. It would be a fairy tale ending if it wasn't for her stepdaughter Gabrielle.
Having observed his cousins Hugh and Eleanor find happiness in their respective marriages, Philip doesn't see why his marriage should be any different. Especially since he managed to find a giving, submissive, delightful woman that drew him like no woman had ever done before. Everything would be perfect, except that she allows her stepdaughter to denigrate her and manipulate her. His method of correction for both Cordelia and Gabrielle isn't what either lady expected, but Cordelia finds confidence in his support and care of her... if only she would put him first instead of Gabrielle, Philip's life would be perfect.
A sexy spanking tale of desire, passion and love, Philip's Rules is the first of a new series spin-off of the Domestic Discipline Quartet (you do not need to read the quartet to enjoy this book).
Philip's Rules is an 80,000 word standalone novel set in Victorian times with a HEA and contains domestic discipline, spanking, birching, paddling, anal play and sex, the exciting danger of illicit situations, and some seriously delicious alpha men.

On Schedule!
YAY! So far I am on schedule to get Philip's Rules out for my birthday on August 15th =) WOOT!
I should be finishing the last chapter and writing the epilogue today. This week has had a LOT of writing time shoved into it, but it's been good... I had the time for it this week, which was nice. I'm really happy with how the book has gone so far, I'm getting good feedback from the beta readers, and I'm already looking forward to the rest of the series =)
I'm also hoping to have my first newsletter out sometime this month! I'll have a link up sometime next week for sign-ups. I'm not as good about updating the blog as I have been in the past anymore, I'm just too busy, and I won't be abandoning the blog, but I feel like the newsletter is a good option for people who aren't as interested in reading the blog posts but DO want to know when the next book is coming out. Because, let's be honest, sometimes I just ramble on here and not everyone wants to know what's going through my head during the writing process, which I totally get.
In other news, I've (finally) started on reader requests for Lit. The first thing I'm doing is re-writing Chapter 9 of Contest, which was a request made a LONG time ago and I'm excited to finally get to it. It's certainly the most lacking chapter of that series and I'm going to enjoy doing it justice. It's also probably going to be a couple chapters long. I'm a little disappointed in myself for putting up so much information packed into such a short chapter the first time around. At the time, I was doing the Survivorphile contest, which involved quantity over quality, but I was really trying not to let the quality of my stories suffer, and on that chapter I definitely fell short of that goal. Soooo I'm really happy that I got a request to re-write it and I can now fix that!
And, of course, once Philip's Rules is complete and out, book-wise I will be turning my focus back to Stronghold to pick up Leigh and Jared's story where it left off! I'm looking forward to that although I'm also super into the new Bridal Discipline series. It's always fun having two series that I'm so inspired by!

Philip's Rules - Teaser
I think this is going to be the last teaser before the book comes out =) SUPER excited. I've only got about 4-5 more chapters to go I think... I'm really enjoying this book and I'm hoping you guys will too! Also, once I manage to wrap it up, I really am going to get something out for Literotica. I know I've been super bad about not focusing on that at all. My mind has been super focused on Philip's Rules, which is def not a bad thing since it's coming out so soon!
Anyway, here's the teaser. Enjoy and have a great weekend! -
"Sweetheart?" Philip's fingers tipped her chin up to look at him as he peered at her in concern and she realized she'd started woolgathering.Licking her suddenly dry lips, she scrambled to form a coherent response. "I don't know..." Her voice trailed off, because she didn't know exactly what she wanted to say. The emotions swirling inside of her weren't just confusing, they were inappropriate. She couldn't possibly tell Philip that she didn't want him to punish Gabrielle because she didn't want her stepdaughter so close to him, physically. Gabrielle had poached Cordelia's suitors before, but it was obviously something that Philip hadn't fallen for. But, for the first time, Cordelia found that she had something she considered hers, that she didn't want to share. Something hot flared in Philip's eyes. A look that Cordelia already recognized and, after last night, finally understood the full ramifications of."I'd be happy to show you, sweetheart."Not understand but willing to led Philip lead the way, she didn't protest or try to pull away as he led her over to the chair behind his desk. When he suddenly tugged her over his lap, so that her stomach was resting on his hard thighs, Cordelia let out a frightened squeak. Her heart was suddenly pounding as she realized how very vulnerable she was. It was one thing to know how much bigger and stronger her husband was than her, it was another to have it demonstrated so clearly. When he flipped her skirts up, tipping her further forward so that she had to put out her hands to keep balanced on his lap, Cordelia finally came to her senses. She tried to squirm away, but his hand on her waist kept her easily in place."Philip! No!" she squeaked, her voice not nearly as firm or demanding as she wanted it to be. "Now, if you were Gabrielle, I wouldn't have you over my lap," he said, in a lecturing tone of voice, completely ignoring her protest. A warm hand rested on the curve of her derriere, making her skin heat through her drawers. "Wives go over laps. Gabrielle will bend over my desk or the arm of one of the chairs. However, she'll get to keep her drawers." Cordelia squeaked again as she felt her own drawers being slid down her body, baring the pale curves of her bottom cheeks. "You'll be spanked on your bare bottom when you're naughty."Philip's hand caressed her smooth skin and then gave her cheek a light tap, just hard enough to sting. Strangely, a frisson of pleasure went through her body at the little slap, making her bite her lip to keep from gasping. Even though Eleanor and Irene had mentioned pleasure, Cordelia found it extremely embarrassing considering her current predicament. "Should I show you now?" Her husband's voice was teasing, flirting, as his fingers stroked her cheeks. Even so, Cordelia immediately tried to wriggle away.
"No, thank you! I understand perfectly now, thank you!"
Anyway, here's the teaser. Enjoy and have a great weekend! -

Cover Reveal - Philip's Rules
RaineyCloud9 has done an absolutely GORGEOUS job on the cover for my new series!!! I'm so excited to share it with you all =)
I'm super stoked about this series, especially with amazing covers like this! Just looking at it makes me happy =) Hopefully the book will be worth of the cover!
I'm aiming for an August 15th release date and I think I can make that... *crosses fingers* There's still a lot of work to be done on it, but I'm moving along pretty quickly too =)
Sadly, I have been getting very little done for any other books (well, other than Marriage Training, which is also moving along nicely, but that's a separate thing at this point) or for Literotica. My head is all wound up in DragonCon, which is coming up so fast!!! Only 40 more days till I head down to Atlanta, and that means only 40 more days to get all my costume pieces together. UGH. Which is why I have less time than usual. Between the writing and the costume making, I haven't had a whole lot of time for blogging. It's like my head is fuzzy from being filled with all the things I'm doing!
I hope everyone has a great weekend... check in next week for another teaser from Philip's Rules!

All the Things
There are so many things!!!
I've got DragonCon coming up in 57 days (ACK) and I'm not done with all my cosplays yet. Not even close. lol. So I've got a lot of time going towards that right now.
On the flip side, I'm trying to get the Marriage Training book to the interested agent by this Friday. Or, at least, most of it. So there's a looooooooooot of work going into that right now, because that's where all my focus is. Once it goes to the agent she sends it out to an editor and then I guess it comes back to me for changes and then we'll see where things go from there! It'd be really cool to have a book that I hadn't self-published =) Although, if no publisher ends up picking it up, that's what I'll do of course, so don't worry, you'll get to read it. It's going to be very different from the Lit story though; much less dark, much less s/m, more traditional romance... so far I'm actually liking it a lot. There's a lot more Gabriel, Vivian's got more of a personality and the school is much more interesting. I've also already got an idea for a follow-up book. Cuz you know, I need more ideas for books right now. *sigh* LOL
After this Friday I'll be focusing back on Philip's Rules! I'm glad everyone seems to have enjoyed the teaser - and the little teasers that I put up on Facebook =) So far I'm really having a lot of fun writing the book and the early stuff that I've seen for the cover looks gooooooooorgeous. I think it's going to be really good. My goal is to finish it by the end of this month. I think I'm about halfway through it right now, so I know I'll have it finished in August if I don't manage the end of this month, but I'd really like to do a July release if I can... and then I can get back to Stronghold for a bit =) Leigh and Jared are swimming around my head.
I'm also going to get started on reader requests for Lit soon... I've just had so much going on that I haven't been able to start on those at all. Free time? What's free time? I'm pretty sure that shit's a myth.
So yeah... that's what's going on in my world for now. I'm a busy busy bee!

Teaser - Philip's Rules
Working hard on my new book! Here's the first teaser (unedited) for Philip's Rules:
A knock at the door had Philip turning his head and Marshall growling under his breath as the stiffened fabric of the cravat was pulled in an incorrect manner."Come in," Philip called. His butler opened the door and stepped inside. "Mr. Hood has arrived, my lord."A wave of relief flowed over Philip. "Well I suppose if you've already let him in the door..."With just a hint of a smile, the butler stepped to the side, allowing Felix to enter. Third son of the Viscount Hood, Felix had no honorary title and was a mere 'mister,' however thanks to his investments in the railways, he was also a very wealthy mister. His advice had also made Philip a tidy sum of money, which had saved the coffers of the Dunbury estates when he'd been new to the title. They were the best of friends, and Philip had begun to doubt that Felix would arrive in time to stand beside him."Cutting it a bit fine, aren't you?" he asked his friend as Felix came in, standing and looking Philip over with a judgmental eye. Whereas Philip relied on Marshall to keep him in the current style, Felix was something of a clotheshorse and one of the trendsetters among the young men in their set. With his striking black hair and eyes so dark that they looked black as well, not too many could pull off the same colors and styles that Felix could, and many couldn't afford the level of his tailoring either.Felix snorted at Philip's admonishment. "Well I could have done with more notice." He gave Philip a somewhat exasperated look. "I was in Scotland you know, with no idea that you'd have some hare-brained idea about getting leg-shackled. As it was, I had to leave a whole set of baggage behind.""Oh the horror," Philip mocked, grinning. Felix always traveled with twice as many clothes as he needed anyway. Looking at him today, in his dark plum waistcoat, navy trousers and superfine jacket, no one would think he'd been rushed in his dressing. "I didn't know I'd be getting married when you left for Scotland or I would have told you.""So how'd she do it?" Felix asked, settling himself down in the chair across from Philip. Some men would sprawl comfortably in such a casual setting, but never Felix. He was never less than perfectly presentable. "Do what?""Trick you into proposing, of course," Felix said, raising his eyebrow at Philip. "Unless of course, you were caught in a compromising situation, although I hadn't heard anything to the effect. But I have been in Scotland."To Philip's amusement, Marshall shot Felix a dirty look. Most of the time his best friend and his valet got on admirably, but his staff had been quite entranced by Cordelia, and Felix's insinuations had apparently struck a defensive nerve in the man. Even more amusing, he felt quite pleased by it."She didn't trick me and she hasn't been the least bit compromised."Well. Mostly. There had been some very passionate kisses exchanged in the past few weeks, but Philip had conducted himself admirably, considering how easy it would have been to sweep her away and... Remembering where he was and seeing how closely Felix was watching him, Philip shut down that line of thought. Marshall gave Felix a superior kind of look as he finished off Philip's cravat and went to get his jacket."Well, I did hear she was a widow, so it would be hard to compromise her.""A very respectable widow," Philip said. Almost too respectable. Keeping their encounters to kisses and caresses had done a number on his willpower, but it had been worth it. In some ways, Cordelia was quite skittish. While she wasn't an innocent, he didn't think she'd gotten much in the way of experience in the old Baron's marriage bed either. Open-mouthed kisses had shocked her the first time, but she was quite eager with them now. There was a passionate houri buried under her respectability, one which he was looking forward to unleashing tonight. "Dear god," Felix exclaimed, rolling his eyes. "You've become a romantic."A small smile curved Philip's face as he held out his arms so that Marshall could help him into his jacket. "Perhaps a bit. You'll understand when you meet her."Although Felix made a derogatory noise, Philip could tell that his friend was highly intrigued. Despite the fact that Philip had shared his thoughts on marriage, after talking with Hugh and Edwin, Felix had remained unconvinced that Philip was serious - or that he would be able to find what he sought. "All ready, my lord," Marshall said, smoothing down the lapels of Philip's jacket and giving him a last once over. "May I extend the congratulations of the staff? We're very much looking forward to you and your ladyship's return this evening.""Very good, thank you, Marshall," Philip said with a nod of dismissal. The staff couldn't possibly be looking forward to their return more than he was. What had possessed him to agree to an afternoon wedding rather than a morning? There was still at least half an hour before it would be time to leave for the church. Ah yes... he'd been hoping to give the reprobate in front of him more time to arrive. Seeing Philip's gaze landing back on him, Felix grinned. "You're looking very good, old chap. I'm glad to see Marshall's keeping you in tip-top shape.""As if he would allow anything less," Philip said with a snort. He gave himself one last glance in the mirror before turning away. Although he knew he was good-looking, he wasn't given to Felix's kind of vanity. "I have a favor to ask of you.""Oh-ho," Felix said, his eyebrows rising. Philip was not the type to ask for favors, usually preferring to do things on his own. "And on your wedding day no less. How can I refuse?"Ignoring his friend's joking sarcasm, Philip pressed onward. Today was too important for Felix's levity and he wanted to impress the seriousness of the situation on him. "I need you to keep an eye on Cordelia's stepdaughter, Gabrielle today and keep her out of trouble."Felix groaned. "You want me to baby-sit some schoolroom miss? What, you couldn't employ a governess to mind her?""Unfortunately, Miss Astley is too old for a governess," Philip said, a trifle grimly. "Gabrielle is nineteen and about to embark on her first Season. Cordelia and I will be postponing our honeymoon until the Season is over.""Hoping to get the stepdaughter leg-shackled so you can have some privacy with your bride?" Felix asked with amusement, but his curiosity was obviously piqued. Although Philip didn't want to denigrate his soon-to-be bride in anyway, even obliquely, he decided it was best to be entirely frank with Felix. The man couldn't be too prepared to deal with Gabrielle, as far as Philip was concerned. It was his private opinion that Gabrielle was the main reason that Cordelia hadn't received any offers of marriage before his, in the years since the Baron's death. The little hussy had even had the nerve to throw herself at him when they were introduced, despite the fact that she'd just been told that he and Cordelia were engaged. He could only count his blessings that she hadn't been at the house party where he'd met Cordelia and had been on a trip with a friend instead. Making Cordelia's life more difficult seemed to be Gabrielle's main pursuit in life, despite Cordelia doing everything she could to make Gabrielle's life easier."If anyone will have her," Philip said. "She's quite beautiful, but she's a viper, and she's wretchedly jealous of Cordelia. It comes out at the worst times and in the worst ways.""Make her dowry high enough and there will be plenty who don't care how waspish her tongue is.""It's fit for a duke's daughter," Philip said quite seriously. Felix let out a low whistle, seeing the grave expression on Philip's face. "But for today, I just need to ensure that she does not cause a scene and that Cordelia has no reason for upset.""Then I'm your man," Felix said with a loose salute. Checking his fob watch, he got to his feet. "We should be off, since you're apparently in earnest over this woman.""Bloody right," Philip said with a grin, a little bubble of excitement filling him. All his life he'd thought he would be apprehensive over his marriage, but the truth was that he couldn't wait to make Cordelia his.
