Beauty?
Why are so many fictional heroines breathtakingly beautiful? When I look around me, I see so many truly beautiful women. Yet they might not move through a room knocking men flat with the force of a tidal wave. Their lovliness radiates from their character. It takes time and getting to know someone to appreciate such qualities. I believe our culture places far too much emphasis on physical appearance, and not enough on those enduring traits that constitute real beauty.

Birthday Poem
Another birthday is no big deal
After all, you’re as young as you feel.
So some days you’re ninety
And some days you’re ten
It all depends on the state you’re in!
After all, you’re as young as you feel.
So some days you’re ninety
And some days you’re ten
It all depends on the state you’re in!

Morning Person?
I love morning. Love waking up, looking forward to the adventures the day may hold. Seems my friends and family either 1) Agree and love morning - or 2) Can't figure out what those dratted birds find to sing about so EARLY. Which are you? Perky in the morning, or still going strong at 10 pm (when we morning people are falling asleep)?

Handsome Hero
I think a man's character is so much more important than his looks. A kind, intelligent man with a good sense of humor wins my popularity contest every time.

Is Love Blind?
Does love prevent us from seeing a loved one's faults? Or is it true love only when we see the warts and love right over them?

What is a hero?
There can be a significant difference between a protagonist and a hero. For me, the protagonist is the main character, the person whose story drives the plot. He may even be detestable. A hero is someone, real or imaginary, I learn to care about. In a romance novel, I want the hero to be someone I could fall in love with. What do you think?

Fictional Characters
It's strange how an author can create a character...then begin to think of him or her as a real person. If the hero of my romance work in progress doesn't make my own heart flutter, it's time to crank up the re-write as far as I'm concerned.

Celebrities are Real people
I wonder why I expect a famous person to have imposing physical stature? Saw Beth Moore live this weekend, and was stunned to realize she's really tiny. She has such a presence on her DVDs - so naturally I assumed she would be the tallest woman in the room.

Is HEA the best ending?
Is every romantic novel supposed to end with "and they lived happily ever after"? Is the mystery diminshed when the reader knows in advance that eerything is going to end with the heroine in the hero's loving arms? Or is the pleasure of a romance wrapped up in the journey vs. the destination? What do you think--reality, rose-colored glasses, or something in between?

What Does Blog Mean?
Exploration week for me! My first novel was released yesterday by inspiredromancenovels.com (It's a Christian Romance, "A Hero's Homecoming" - you can also find it on Amazon, B&N, Smashwords). And now I'm blogging. Uh, what, exactly does blog stand for? Is it a contraction or an acronym or just a made up word? Maybe: Big Load Of Goop? Bright Lights of Glasgow? Bring Lots of Grog?
