Jacqueline Lichtenberg in Fic by Anne Jamison (via dixseptdixhuit)

I’ve been provoked by canon, yes. But in good ways, not bad. This seems to refer to fix-it fic in particular.

Also, we are much more prolific than oysters.

Definitely true for me!! You know, if HLV had ended after the scene when John groups himself with Sherlock as a “we” and divides Mary from himself with his “you” and starts treating her like a client, I’d have probably written about 50 fewer stories. But between his taking her back and the tarmac scene… hooooo boy, you’d better believe that produced fix-it fic!!!

Fun fact that I only just realised upon my annual watching of V for Vendetta: that’s Roger Allam! As in, Douglas from Cabin Pressure! :)

Sorry for not updating sooner. It’s been a weird week.

I broke up with my local bff, a guy who’s best my main hang-out partner-in-crime for the past two years. It got to the point where he was draining all of my energy, yet totally unsupportive (or fun) in return. He insists on staying in a job which he absolutely hates (for good reason) but refuses to leave, despite having been offered the same job at a better company. He won’t change his life but wants the right to complain about it endlessly, but always on his schedule, his terms. Whereas he “forgot” to come to my big solo concert in August, which was a 15-minute walk from where he lives - and got angry with me for having dared ask why he wasn’t there when he’d said he would be, etc. Like that. It was just on and on, and he refuses to even consider his own behaviour but seems to expect me to grovel. I think he thought I would never cut him off. He thought wrong. I’m still angry and I’m trying not to let myself feel bad about it. He needed to be shown that there are limits, no matter how many times I tried to be the bigger person. He’s going to miss me a hell of a lot more than I’m going to miss him.

I’m in the editing stage of my book, but all four of the people who have been reading/editing it along with me have disappeared on me, either in total non-communication or in just not actually reading my stuff and sending it back. I’m trying to draft my first ever query letter and I wanted to do it with those opinions under my belt. (And thanks in advance, but that wasn’t a call for volunteers! I’m sort of extremely private about the novel itself and don’t want it shared outside my very small personal circle, but if you were going to offer, know that I love you for wanting to!! I mean that!)

My other closest friend in the city is someone I have a complicated relationship with. Not in any sort of romantic sense, but in that he’s my boss, but also my student, and also my friend, so dynamics shift weirdly depending on the specific circumstances. He has a wife and two kids that I’m close to as well. As with any colleagues, I suppose, work things sometimes make it difficult to also be friends, but that’s usually okay. We had a brief not-good moment on Monday that was fixed by Tuesday morning, but still. It’s been a lot of me feeling very alone this week, and that’s made me feel restless and weird, and hasn’t led to me being productive on the writing front. That, and I’m swamped with work. Not the English teaching, but the church stuff, mostly: it’s coming on Christmas, so I have a thousand services to plan, music to choose, singers to recruit, etc etc etc, and I’m also teaching a four-week course on the liturgical season of Advent, so that’s an extra thing. It’s fine, just busy.

That said, the new fic did gain some weight. It’s currently sitting at 3,400 words.

If you read all that, bless. <3
