The brainwashing is ongoing, insidious and persistent. In my twenty three years of work in Canada ONE boss did not expect free overtime. Everyone else, be it private small company or a big corporation, expected it all year long and expressed outrage when it was not happening - even when there was NO NEED for it. I was explicitly asked “why your team leaves at 4”, when the boss knew very well that the volume of work at the time was very low.
It was not happening when I worked in contract; I worked an hour more, billed you for one hour more 🤷🏼 😁
Stealing people’s time and inflicting the stress on employees is an integral part of North American so-called “work ethics”. 😡

Very much this! Someone just read through all of Against the Rest of the World and commented on every single chapter as they read - a fic I wrote nine years ago and which still means a lot to me. Made my whole week!! I love people who read my stuff and comment on it. My current one is blazing ahead, btw! It’s over 6,200 words now!

ok first of all I need to shout out Steph, the queen herself: @inevitably-johnlocked . Her ENTIRE blog is dedicated to fic recs!! Here’s her masterpost of all her fic recs (it’s truly a work of art, god bless Steph). You’re gonna be shook when you check that post, lmao
So it depends on what rating/fic length you are into, but personally, @silentauroriamthereal is my favorite author. Literally anything by them is incredible. Also @arwamachine , @totallysilvergirl , @sussexbound , @fluffbyday-smutbynight , @helloliriels , @musingsofmyown , and a few others whose tumblr handles I cannot find! There are literally so many talented authors, though, you really can’t go wrong; those are just my absolute top favorites.
I went ahead and perused my bookmarks on ao3 (I only make private bookmarks, sorry 😅), and here are my favs! I’ve read each of these at least 5 times (more like 15), whoops
