this is excting news! Can you tell us what this one is about?
I’ve actually talked about it a couple of times (but I don’t expect everyone to see every post I make, or even most of them! Just explaining that this could be repeat info for some!). It’s actually told in three different POVs. John is the dominant one, but it starts and ends with Mycroft, starting with him grimly rewatching the footage of John beating Sherlock in the morgue and asking himself his first question about John again: whether he would be the making of Sherlock or make him worse than ever. He’s come to a conclusion and decided that it’s time to take action… so he gives John a choice.
I don’t want to say anything else or give away any spoilers, but… this is a dark one! My idea starting out was that much of the story would take place somewhere in, vaguely, Eastern Europe, possibly with a bit of a post-apocalyptic vibe. That was already before the global pandemic hit. Also, for the past 11 weeks now, I’ve been eyebrows-deep in a research project about a massive, catastrophic disaster, involving a failed civil uprising that’s become a theatre of war involving many, many different players and parties and it has definitely coloured the writing of this story and that particular setting as I work through some of my thoughts and feelings about that situation. I invented a particular village for this story and gave it a wholly fictional backstory, which I’ll be very happy to talk about once the story is up and read if anyone is interested. :) Meanwhile… I would say that this one will be under 35,000 words, so we’re getting there!! Though I never know exactly how long my stories will decide to be. They tell themselves; I am but their humble transcriber. :P The title is Sine Nomine, which is Latin for “no name”, which represents both the namelessness of the village as well as other things that have never been named or given voice to, so that’s the leitmotif meant to tie it all together. It’s bleak in places. But it will come together to a good place in the end!

I saw an article called “Make Peace With Your Unlived Life” and it really made me stop and think. So much of our lives is mourning for what we didn’t become. It’s a waste. We didn’t waste any opportunities. What came and went was not meant for us.
God I needed to read this
