Nocturnal Obsession Releases Soon...
It won't be long now for the release of the next novel in
The Nocturnal Surrender Series
, Nocturnal Obsession. Although I don't have an exact release date yet, I can say it will be within the next month or so, so be sure to sign up for my Newsletter, if you haven't already, to find out when the book is released.
If you would like access to the book before it is released, it will be up temporarily on Wattpad . If you do decide to read it now, just know that I have it up there to be proofread to help catch any typos or other mistakes before the official release. The book has been edited, but since we are all only human, some things may have slipped through. Nocturnal Obsession... What happens when a billionaire playboy vampire falls in love…with his courtesan?
Christof Rosenbaum has spent centuries feeding his many desires, blood and sex topping that list. Everything he ever wants merely falls into his lap, or he simply takes it. He has lived a charmed life…until recently. Now, his best friend won’t speak to him, he’s haunted—literally—by his past, and he is in love with a woman he can never have for himself. A woman he must share with other men on a nightly basis.
Vampire Rochelle Montague runs a thriving bordello with her sister. She has her perfect life in order…until she gets a little too close to Christof. Now that a vengeful ghost is targeting her and Christof, her carefully built world comes crashing down around her. As if that isn’t enough, two sexy vampires profess their undying love for her. If they survive, how will she choose who to be with for eternity?
Important Notice: The prologue of this book contains previously released material from the novelette Auburn Lust, which will no longer be available as its own book. It fits better here, with the story in Nocturnal Obsession, than as a standalone.
Other Book News... There are a couple of other things I am working on right now. First off, over the next few months, my books will be made available on Nook, iBooks, and other retailers besides Amazon. This means my books are no longer available in Kindle Unlimited since Amazon doesn't allow us to sell on those other retailers while our books are in that program.
Second, I have started the next book in The Nocturnal Surrender Series . This will be Donovan Evanko's book, along with his heroine, Laureline Montague, of course. It is tentatively titled, Eternal Surrender. I have to say that these two seem like they are going to be a lot of fun to write about. Both of them are free spirits, and the chemistry between them is off the charts.
My goal is to have Eternal Surrender done by the end of this year. Fingers crossed it works out that way and that life doesn't get in the way of my schedule like it always seems to. With any luck, I will have released two books by the end of 2018. If I accomplish this, the new goal for 20019 will be to release at least three books by the end of the year.
That's all for now, but there are many other exciting things I will be announcing in the future. Until then, keep reading! Ride a vampire!

The Nocturnal Surrender Series Revamped and Cover Reveal
Pun Intended
That's right, my erotic vampire romance series has been revamped. The biggest change is that I have updated the covers to make them have more of an erotic paranormal romance feel. While I loved the old covers, the new ones are a better representation of the genre. I hope everyone loves these new covers as much as I do. The new covers are being updated on Amazon this week, and the paperbacks will be updated later this month or next month.
The other major change is that Nocturnal Surrender has been expanded into a novel. Nocturnal Surrender was originally published in 2012 as a novella. This new novel version combines Nocturnal Surrender with the previously published novella, Midnight Confessions, and adds new chapters to expand on the story. Midnight Confessions will no longer be available as its own book but can be read in this new novel version of Nocturnal Surrender in its entirety. The two have been seamlessly blended with the added chapters to create one cohesive novel that pulls together the love story of Bastian Evanko and Nicole French.
Book covers and descriptions have been updated on this site, and the new versions of the books are now available for purchase. The books' numbers have also changed due to this. Instead of Nothing Lasts Forever being the #1 book of the series, it has now been designated as a prequel novella. Nocturnal Surrender will now begin the numbered portion of the series. My hope is this will be a welcome change in the series. Many people wanted more from Bastian and Nicole, and now they will have it. Old Covers Vs. New So now let's take a look at the changes to each of the covers,
and don't forget to comment to let me know what you think of the new covers.

But when she gets a little too close to Christof, and when her sister decides to leave the family business, Rochelle’s carefully built world comes crashing down around her. She has no one to turn to except the one man she truly needs to avoid. Love is not an option, no matter how persistent Christof is, but how can she push him away when there is a ghost after him, hell bent on revenge?

This is the next novel in the series, and I am almost finished writing it. It still has to be edited, as well. There is no release date yet, but this book will be out this year! Personal Updates I know you haven't heard from me for a while. Let's just say this has been one hell of a beginning to the year.
First, I rang in the New Year in the hospital.
Setback number one. Down and dirty version of what happened? Here goes.
Severe lower right abdominal pain to the point of deciding within half an hour I needed to go to the ER. Wasn't there long before I found out it was a large mass on my ovary, twisting and killing my ovary--hence the severe pain.
Next, they send me to another hospital by ambulance because I not only have the mass but blood clots in my lung. They scared my husband and son into thinking I was dying right then and there. It was true that I would have died if they hadn't caught the blood clots and went ahead with removing the mass right away as they normally do in these cases.
Apparently it takes about five days or more for the ovary to die, which means that many days of excruciating pain. That's why they normally do the surgery immediately. Thank goodness for good pain killers, but I had to stay in the hospital the majority of those days. I was also put on blood thinners to help with the clots--they also found another in my leg.
Okay, so I dodged a huge bullet there.
The soonest they could do the surgery was six weeks, so they scheduled it for 2/20/17, and we couldn't find out if the mass was cancerous until the surgery.
Second, we had a death in the family not long after I was released from the hospital.
As deaths always do, this threw us into another tailspin that we have yet to come out of and that will be affecting us for a long time to come, including possibly having to move at some point soon.
Third, a few weeks before the surgery was scheduled I ended up with severe bronchitis.
I have never been so sick for so long. I couldn't go to work for over two weeks, on top of already missing two weeks between being in the hospital and the bereavement time off--all unpaid.
So...I go to the hospital and start getting prepped for surgery even though I was still not over the bronchitis. They wanted to try getting the surgery in anyway, but when the anesthesiologist saw me she said there was no way they would do the surgery. I could end up with pneumonia or worse.
Postponed for another month, which brings me to...
Fourth, I finally had my surgery on 3/20/17, an almost complete hysterectomy.
They kept the left ovary in there for hormonal reasons since it was in good shape, but everything else is gone.
Great news--NO CANCER. Other great news--she was able to do the surgery with four laparoscopic incisions so I'm not in much pain, but I will be off work without pay again for at least four weeks.
Now for the freaky part.
Apparently, some masses/cysts/tumors can have teeth, hair, brain tissue, etc. in them. Mine apparently had teeth and hair. It was a 17 centimeter mass, which is pretty damn big, almost 7 inches. Go ahead and do an image search if you want to see some crazy stuff.
So I'm healing up now, but needless to say, I haven't gotten much writing done this year. Book Updates I'm still working--however slowly--on the next book in my Nocturnal Surrender Series . This novel is over half done already. If I buckle down, it will be finished in no time. Hopefully, now that the majority of the chaos is over I will be able to start working more on this and my other books.

They dream of spending eternity together, but will lies, secrets, and betrayal destroy their relationship and their lives forever? Two hundred years ago in London, England, after nearly eight centuries of immortal life, Bastian Evanko has finally found the woman he wants to be with forever. Now he is ready to reveal his secret and tell her he is a vampire, but past experience has shown him mortal women may not be able to accept him for what he is.
Elise McNeil loves Bastian with all her heart and can’t wait to share her life with him, to have a family with him, until he shows her the monster he hides inside. She is devastated because he lied to her the entire time he courted her, and she believes he may be evil and incapable of loving her as he claims to.
As if their situation isn’t complicated enough, Elise has a secret of her own. Her brother Jacob is a vampire Hunter. When the two men come face-to-face after Jacob and Elise’s parents go missing, will she keep Bastian’s secret or betray him for her family’s sake?
Warning: This novella is a romantic tragedy—with a tragic ending—but the rest of the books in this series will have happy endings.
They all need to lose themselves in the pleasures of the flesh sometimes, but what happens when the lines between lust and love start to blur?Twin courtesan vampires Rochelle and Laureline Montague entertain two of their favorite vampire clients for the evening. Christof Rosenbaum and Donovan Evanko.
Rochelle and Christof have been meeting for centuries but lately the intimacy between them has crossed the line and become personal. Will Rochelle be able to keep her professional boundaries in place or will she give in to her emotions?
Laureline and Donovan’s rendezvous is much less emotional and far rougher, but that’s how they like it. Although, she can’t let Donovan leave after just one time around—even when he is summoned by his Enforcer boss.
In the end, both men are consumed by the auburn-haired beauties in one way or another, and there is no doubt both will be back for more.
Warning: This is an erotic novelette—not a romance—with lots of sex. It can stand alone, but it actually takes place right before Nocturnal Surrender in the series timeline.
In one vampire’s struggle for redemption, can a mortal woman’s love conquer all or will his recklessness condemn her to death as it did another two centuries before? After two hundred years in exile, vampire Bastian Evanko has come back to earn his brother's respect and to plot revenge against the vampire who murdered his fiancée, Elise. In The Sin City of the East, Bastian must fight his rebellious nature and learn to control his impulsiveness. When he asks for a private dance, and a bite, from stripper Darling Nikki, he gets far more than he bargains for—including another chance at love. But is the love of a beautiful woman enough to sate his need for retribution?
Nicole French simply wants to learn how to live in her new town without having a breakdown over the painful memories she hides. Having a man in her life is the last thing she needs. When Bastian asks for a private dance, and to drink her blood, things heat up quickly in the private room with the sexy stranger. The only problem is he likes to pretend he’s a vampire and suck down human blood.
After losing Elise because of his secrets, can Bastian risk bringing Nicole into his life? But, on the other hand, can he pass up another chance at love?
Important Notice: Nocturnal Surrender was originally published in 2012 as a novella. This new novel version combines Nocturnal Surrender with the previously published novella, Midnight Confessions, and adds new chapters to expand on the story. Midnight Confessions will no longer be available as its own book but can be read here in its entirety. The two have been seamlessly blended with the added chapters to create one cohesive novel that pulls together the love story of Bastian Evanko and Nicole French.FREE Read of my WIP
In case you missed my last blog post, my current work in progress, the fourth novel of the Nocturnal Surrender Series, can now be read on
Wattpad
. I am not sure how many chapters I will put on there, maybe even the entire book. It will all depend on how the process goes. I put up a new chapter every week or two. Since I am still in the process of writing this book, it is unedited, so please keep this in mind as you read, but any feedback will be greatly appreciated. This book is still untitled, but here is the tentative blurb. What happens when a billionaire playboy vampire falls in love...with his courtesan?
Christof Rosenbaum has spent centuries feeding his many desires, blood and sex topping that list. He built his fortune in Lansford, Pennsylvania, the Sin City of the East. Everything he ever wants merely falls into his lap. He has lived a charmed life...until recently. Now, his best friend hates him, he's haunted by his past, and he is in love with a woman he can never have for himself. A woman he must share with other men on a nightly basis.
Rochelle Montague runs a thriving bordello with her sister. She has her life in order and needs nothing else to make her happy. But when she gets a little too close to Christof, and when her sister decides to leave the family business, Rochelle's carefully built world comes crashing down around her. She has no one to turn to except the one man she truly needs to avoid. Love is not an option, no matter how persistent Christof is, but how can she push him away when she sees how broken he is? And how can she not lose herself in the process?
FREE PaperbacksI will also be doing some signed paperback giveaways on Goodreads within the next few months so be sure to sign up for my blog and newsletter so you don't miss out on the chance to win. Also be sure to Like me on Facebook and Follow me on Twitter to keep up with the latest info.Truth TimeI don't know about you, but I love getting free books. The only problem is getting around to reading them, especially when they are eBooks. I'm slowly working my way through my eBook TBR list, but I'm also constantly adding paperbacks and hardcovers, which somehow seem to get read first. Maybe it's because they are right there staring me in the face all the time as opposed to the eBooks being out of sight, out of mind on my tablet.
So what about you? Do you read the free eBooks, or even physical books, you get, or do they lay around waiting forever for you to show them some attention, as mine sometimes do?Ride a Vampire!

New Nocturnal Surrender Series WIP on Wattpad and Other Wacky News
New Book on Wattpad That's right, I decided to try something a little different with the next Nocturnal Surrender Series novel. I am still in the process of writing this book but decided to begin putting the finished - unedited - chapters
up on wattpad
. This is a bit of an experiment, and just how many chapters I put up on the site will depend on how things go. I am not showing the tentative cover here, but you will see it over on wattpad.Because the series has an ongoing arc throughout, it would be best if you've read the other books in the series, but it isn't necessary in order to enjoy the novel I am currently writing. Each book deals with a different couple within the Nocturnal Surrender world and has it's own conclusive ending for the couple. These are erotic vampire romance books, after all. The only exception is the prequel novella, Nothing Lasts Forever, which is a romantic tragedy. Other Books in the Series To learn more about the series, and for purchase links, visit the series page .
Want Exclusive Content? I am currently in the process of revamping
my Newsletter
. Soon, more exclusive content will be available through it than ever before, even a FREE book or two in the near future. I hope to have all this in place by the start of the new year, maybe sooner if I can kick myself in the butt to get moving faster. With the holidays coming, that may be easier said than done.Sign up now so you don't miss out on anything. Although I haven't put some of the changes into effect yet, here is a sneak peek at a part of the new design...
What I've Been Doing Latelyor...
The Misadventures of the Clumsy Writer Unfortunately, I haven't done as much writing as I had planned. I was sidelined most of the summer from a broken wrist and hand. Kind of hard to write when you only have one typing hand. Hunting and pecking is not my thing. I'm usually pretty quick at typing, although, I have no idea what my words per minute are anymore.
Sure, I could have handwritten some things, and I actually did make a few notes for my current Nocturnal Surrender Series WIP, but I can only manage a few pages of handwriting a story before my writing gets too sloppy even for me to read.
So how did I break these bones?
Picture this... Clumsy writer + new pressure washer + dirty vehicle = tripping hazard.
The worst part was, I was trying to move the hose out of the way so I wouldn't trip, and that's when I did trip. I knew on my way down it wasn't going to end well. My left hand took the brunt of the impact. Snap, crack, pain, and the rest is history. I really don't think my wrist should have been able to bend as far back as it did without snapping off. On the bright side, I didn't need surgery like they first told me I would. So, yeah me!
Lessons learned:
1) Do not let the clumsy writer around any trip hazards.
2) Do not give the clumsy writer power tools of any kind.
3) If you are going to trip and fall, try landing on your butt instead of your hand. There's far more cushioning in the butt.
4) Just do not go outside of the house at all. It's way too dangerous out there for the clumsy writer.
Really, I did a lot of sitting on my behind over the summer because of these broken bones. Thank goodness for Netflix. It wasn't just my writing career that got left behind. I couldn't do any of my hobbies, either. I did go for walks, though, when it wasn't too stinking hot outside, which usually ended up having to be around eight or nine at night. At least the deer and turkeys were out a lot then.
Now, I'm finally getting back on track with everything, especially with my writing, so stay tuned to see all the exciting things I have planned for my books, this blog, and my Newsletter . Before you go, be sure to sign up for both. You can subscribe to this blog up at the top right corner so you don't miss out on any of my misadventures.
So what about you? Do you have any misadventures and lessons learned you'd like to share? Leave a comment and let me know. We can share the misery.

My New Poetry Book for a Cause
I've been absent from my blog for a while, and I've only been on social media sporadically. This is due to many reasons, health, stress, all the normal things. I don't like putting my personal problems out there for many reasons, too, but we have come to a turning point recently. Part of me wanted to write that it was a breaking point, but I hope we're not ready to break yet.My husband has been suffering with debilitating pain for years now, hasn't been able to work, and barely has any quality of life. Many of you know what this is like, hopefully most will never have to know.
You might think that between my day job and being an author I can maintain us with my income, but his medical bills have been far more than we ever expected. With recent pay cuts and decreased hours at my day job, combined with very little sales of my books as I am still relatively unknown, I don't even make enough for us to live on our own. We have been living with his father for years.
It is difficult for us to reach out for help, but that is exactly what we are doing now with our gofundme page. But rather than asking only for donations, I have put together a poetry book to help as well. All the proceeds from this book will go towards my husband's fund, too. The book is available in paperback and eBook, and the price is a little higher than a normal book because it is going for this fund.
Please visit our gofundme page . We would appreciate any help and support you can give and ask that you share this with everyone you can to help spread the word. If you would prefer to buy the book, please visit my Poetry page or use the link below. Please consider sharing this post and/or the gofundme page. Thank you so much for your support.
Even when there seems to be no hope, there is always something beautiful to find in life.
This collection of poems by paranormal romance author, Lorraine Pearl, is a departure from her normal writing style but is still full of emotional and thought provoking prose. Life Is Beautiful tells many stories through these moving poems. Whether melancholy, joyous, humorous, or even sometimes a little angry, there is something for everyone to enjoy within this entertaining poetry book. Don't worry, there are more vampire books to come,
along with the other paranormal creatures I have been working on.

#ScintillatingSunday Blog Hop
Welcome to the weekly Scintillating Sunday Showcase, The Mile High Muses' permanent blog hop
where eight paragraphs, sentences, or words will elevate your sensual experience.
My eight scintillating paragraphs...
Alex had backed Olivia into the car before, and having him so close, so dominant, had nearly made her melt. Even though she could have easily gotten away, she’d felt trapped. It was as if all her strength had been drained from her. Like silver poison coursed through her veins, white hot and debilitating.
And it was happening again. With every step he took toward her. Every glint in his silvery gaze. Every flash of moonlight on his fangs. She hadn’t realized she was moving until her back struck the car once more.
His arms came to rest on the roof on either side of her, still he kept some space between them. “Seems you’ve loosened up a bit, Miss Fournier.”
For some reason the crickets chirped louder. The leaves rustled relentlessly, screaming in her ears. All the sounds of the night bombarded her. Surrounded her. Closed in on her. Just like Alex was.
Inch by seductive inch he closed the space between them until his warm breath caressed her cheek. His lips so close, so enticing, her fangs ached to pierce them. Closer still and his broad chest brushed against her breasts. Erotic need surged through her and came to rest deep in her core.
His breath danced over her ear, and she fought back another shiver. Her hands trembled as she tried to think coherently, her brain telling her to push him away while her body longed to pull him to her.
Was that the fabric of his shirt bunched in her fists? He nipped at her ear, and a flash of heat washed over her. She couldn’t restrain the whimper that escaped.
“We should go back to my place.” His words were laden with desire, his voice deeper than she’d ever heard it. His British accent had thickened, as well. “A woman like you does not belong out here.”Longing for Surrender...
What can you do when what you long for is what terrifies you most?
Olivia Fournier keeps her immortal heart locked away, determined never to allow another man—another vampire—to rip it to shreds as her sire did. She is the cold-hearted bitch everyone hates, and she likes it that way. The last thing she wants is love… Or is it?
Alexander Mitchell has recently been tasked with leading the fight for vampires’ survival against the growing threat of the Hunters. The last thing he needs is to be distracted by the infuriatingly frustrating Olivia Fournier. Then again, maybe she is exactly what he needs.
Can the pair work together to save their species? Or will Olivia’s trust issues and attempts to undermine Alex’s leadership cause them to lose more than a chance at love, but to lose their lives, as well?Head over to The Nocturnal Surrender Series page to learn more about this novel and other books in the series!

The Sexy Inspiration for my Latest Vampire: Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St. John
Sometimes blog posts get lost in space somewhere, or at least in the drafts section. I just found this little gem hiding there and had to share it even though I originally wrote it a year ago. Since I haven't released the next book in this series yet, he is still my latest vampire, so enjoy...
Alexander Mitchell, the sexy vampire in my latest novel, Longing for Surrender, was inspired by another sexy vampire. When I first watched Alex O'Loughlin as the vampire private detective, Mick St. John, I was hooked immediately. Alex's portrayal of Mick was so powerful and emotional, and sexy as hell, that I couldn't help but fall for Mick.
My vampire, Alex, was created long before my Nocturnal Surrender Series . I tried to infuse him with many of the characteristics, and all the good looks, that Mick possessed. I also wanted to take him further than Mick and give him a harder edge. Mick had rules about innocents, Alex doesn't. Yes, Alex tries to avoid taking innocent lives—mostly because of the horrific experience he had during his first killls—but he will do so if necessary. Mick could be a lethal predatory when needed, but Alex is even more so.
Initially, my Alex was meant for a vampire novel along the lines of the Anne Rice books, but I quickly realized my true love when writing was with romance, specifically, erotic romance. So he went from being a badass that had to save the entire world to a badass that had to save his entire species - and find love along the way by taming his feisty coworker, Olivia Fournier.
But don't take my work for it. Here's a quote from the book with Olivia's take on Alex.
He was no good for her. She could lose herself in a man like him. She had seen him hunt and fight. Seen him prowl the night, calm and serene until the time came to take down his target. Then the vampire emerged and the merciless killer took over, though he remained eerily calm.
A man like that—a vampire like that—had to be full of passion. Any woman would be unable to resist such a force of nature.
She would lose everything she had worked for if she allowed him in. She might even lose her heart again.
There was no way she could allow that.
I don't know about you, but it sounds like Olivia is going to have her hands full with Alex. He may just crack her hardened heart. I can't say he will melt it. She would never allow that, but he could definitely shake her entire world. I mean, look at him. Who wouldn't have a hard time staying away from him?Can he disarm her with his charm and make her surrender or will life have to beat her down until she gives in to her longing, even though it terrifies her?

Yes, today is the official release day for my next novel, Longing for Surrender!
You can buy it now or read it for FREE with Kindle Unlimited on Amazon!
Or will Olivia’s trust issues and attempts to undermine Alex’s leadership cause them to lose more than a chance at love, but to lose their lives, as well? Chapter 13 Short Excerpt The second Alex pinned Olivia to the wall he sensed her defenses weakening. When he’d kissed her, touched her, she’d reacted as if those ugly moments in the car had never happened. Still, he knew not to push things too far.
He would have loved nothing better than to do all he’d told her and to show her she was worth far more than her asshole sire had led her to believe.
Her silvery gaze held Alex captive. Her strength shown through, but so did her desire for him.
“Drink from me.” He hoped it would calm her further and bring them closer in a way she felt safe. In control.
It was clear Olivia needed to be in control.
And he needed to be closer to her.
Her stare locked onto his throat, and she licked her lips. Then she looked up at him. “Are you sure you want that after everything I’ve put you through?”
He stroked her hair. “Yes, Olivia. I’m sure.” He leaned down so she could reach, and he tilted his head to give her better access.
Her lips met his skin in a soft kiss. Such a light touch, yet it ignited a fire inside him. His cock grew hard and he groaned. A few more kisses followed, and then…her fangs punctured his throat and she grabbed onto him, pulling him tighter with all her superior strength.
He allowed her to have this power over him, but he also allowed himself to enjoy the feel of her body crushed against his. The sweet sting of her fangs and the rhythmic sucking of her drawing in his blood. Within minutes, her hips ground into him, matching that frantic rhythm.
He planted his hands on the wall for support, another groan ripping out of him. “Fuck, Olivia. I want you so bad.”
She sucked slower, alternating between drinking him in and feathering kisses over the wounds as they healed. “Kiss me.” Her words were breathy, so sexy.
He cradled her face, stared at those luscious lips, and took her mouth with dominance he couldn’t restrain.
But she quickly broke away, and he feared he’d gone too far again.
“Did you hear that?” Her stare darted around, searching the night.
He’d been too distracted to notice anything but her. “Hear what?” His gaze followed hers, but he saw nothing out of the ordinary. Rows of houses, cars parked along the street, lights occasionally illuminating driveways.
“Maybe it was my imagination. I’m not quite myself tonight.”
He took that as a cue to put the brakes on the evening’s fun once again. What had he been thinking? Even if this latest round would have led them back to her bedroom, it wouldn’t have been right for him to sleep with her. Not after all she’d gone through. She wasn’t in the frame of mind to make a decision like that.
He had to be a better man for her. Not let his libido, or even his heart override his mind.
Pulling her close, he turned them until his back was against the house, giving her as much control as possible. Hopefully making her feel safe as possible. “Maybe we should slow things down a bit.”
She rested her head on his chest and sighed. “I think that’s a good idea. My head is spinning. Just hold me until it stops.”
He kissed the top of her head and enjoyed the feel of her warm breath through his shirt. He surveyed the neighborhood once more, but nothing stirred this time of night. Or was it early morning by now?
It didn’t matter that there was a long day ahead, long weeks even. It was worth it to savor these fleeting moments with such a questionable future looming over them.
He breathed in her sweet perfume, letting it drag his mind away from the uncertainty. “What do you say we go back inside? Sit and talk for a while?”
Easing out of his embrace, she nodded and smiled. After fishing her keys from her purse, she clasped his hand and led the way. She closed the door behind them, tossed her purse aside, and tugged him into the living room then flipped on the lights.
She grabbed a remote off the coffee table, and soft music drifted from the speakers around the room. When she sat the remote down, she pulled him toward the sofa, but he had to resist.
“Why don’t we dance?” He brushed a loose strand of hair from her face.
She flashed him another beautiful smile. “I’d like that very much.”
Holding her close, he moved their bodies as one away from the coffee table to the open area of the living room. Her head rested on his shoulder as they swayed to the music, her arms wrapped around him tightly.
If this was the real Olivia, he could lose himself in her.
And this had to be who she really was. Ever since the night he’d pinned her to his car on that country road he’d seen glimpses of this lovely creature. The more time he spent alone with her, the more she let down her guard.
The more he felt for her.
The more he wanted to make her happy.
He rested his head on hers and closed his eyes.
As the song came to an end, the sound of breaking glass destroyed the serenity.
Olivia jerked and grunted, slumping in his arms, moaning. He scrambled to hold onto her and bolt out of there, but another window shattered.
Something hit him in the back, searing into his flesh.
Struggling to fight what appeared to be the effects of silver, he lost his grip on Olivia, and her limp body thudded to the floor. His vision went black. The blood pumping through his veins truly seemed like it was on fire now. His legs gave out and he dropped to the floor, too. The sharp pain from his head hitting the stone hearth of the fireplace was the last thing he felt before losing the fight to stay conscious.
I hope that excerpt grabbed your attention, and I hope you want to find out what happens next.
Let me just say these two went through hell and dragged me through it with them.
It was the most emotional book I've written so far. I love this couple and their journey. I hope you will, too.

Are you ready for another fun blog hop? This time it's all about the excerpts, paranormal romance, that is. The hop is sponsored by
Precious Monsters
.
Since this hop coincides with Longing for Surrender's pre-order, it seems only fitting for the excerpts I post to be from my new book.
I'm so excited for the release of this book. At times, it was exhausting to write due to the emotional turmoil of the heroine. At other times, it was exciting to write because these two have amazing chemistry. And the sexual tension just goes on and on. Heck, I was even wondering when these two would finally get it on, but they wouldn't be rushed. It will be worth it in the end, I promise?
Longing for Surrender is the fifth book in my Nocturnal Surrender Series . If you love sexy vampires that actually bite, then this series is for you. You can also read this series for FREE with Kindle Unlimited .
When you're done reading my excerpts, be sure to check out the other great blogs in this hop. The links are at the end of this post.Longing for Surrender blurb...

As soon as the car lurched to a stop, Olivia used her superior strength to wrench her arm from Alex’s grasp and bolt out the door. He must have gone mad from sniffing too much of that putrid country air.
She vamped out so she could see better in the dark. Everywhere she turned there were nothing but fields and woods…and cows. Far too many cows. The stench was dreadful. She quickly shut down her breathing.
Alex’s laughter drifted on the warm autumn breeze with an irritating calmness. She spun around again, hoping to find an escape route, but the last thing she wanted was to trudge through pastures full of manure or woods full of creepy insects and animals. She could hunt the most ruthless rogue and take him down without a second thought, but if a spider crawled up next to her…
She shivered at the thought.
Besides, her heels were not made for walking in such conditions.
She could run along the road, but she really had no idea where she was or which way to go. Chances were there would be no cell reception out here in the middle of nowhere so she could use GPS. And her phone was in her purse. In Alex’s car.
“Are you ready to get back in?” His eyes glowed silver in the moonlight, and she caught a glimpse of his long fangs when he smiled—too smugly.
She shivered again.
Why couldn’t she stop staring at those sharp daggers in his mouth? He dragged a hand through his hair, and the soft waves slipped out a little at a time, falling around his chiseled face. He strutted around the car, muscles flexing under his shirt.
She looked around at the empty expanse of road on either side of them. Why weren’t there any other cars? It wasn’t that late. If only someone would come along and interrupt whatever he was about to do.
The night suddenly seemed oppressed with heat. It fell over her like a heavy blanket. Although she wasn’t breathing, had no need for oxygen, she thought she might suffocate from it.
He inched closer, a predatory look in his eyes as if she were his prey. As if he had every intention of taking her in his arms, forcing her back against the car, and sinking his fangs deep in her neck.
She stifled a moan.
He’d backed her into the car before, and having him so close, so dominant, had nearly made her melt.
“A woman like you does not belong out here.”
Had he not continued nipping at her flesh, from her earlobe to her neck and back again, she would have taken such a statement as a slight. But with the intimate display, the sensual slide of his fangs along her throat, she took his words as a compliment.
Her fists closed tighter on his shirt, and the tucked fabric pulled out slightly from his waistline. She tilted her head back and to the side to give him better access. His chest pressed tight against her, but his lower body remained a few inches too far away.
Another long, deep scrape of his fangs made her moan. Pain and pleasure combined, shooting to all the sensitive points in her body. He sucked at her throat until the wound healed under his demanding lips. His tongue darted out to lap up any remnants of her blood.
The slow glide of wet heat along her throat as he licked sent a chill down her spine. When his hand slid from the car to her side, she shuddered. His fingers tightened at her waist while he feathered kisses over her neck. The touch of his lips was so light another shiver raced through her.
She ached to pull him closer, to feel his body against hers, molded together. Her body betrayed her each time he’d come near her recently.
She had spent centuries perfecting the art of shutting men out. Especially vampires. Somehow, Alexander Mitchell had done what no one had been able to since Josef.
Alex had made her long to give herself over completely. To be dominated and ruled. To submit.
To surrender.
Worse yet, he made her feel safe. No matter how reckless he seemed, or how ruthless, he had a cool swagger that let everyone know he was in control.
She hadn’t changed her mind about his questionable decisions, but with his hands now skimming her sides, and his lips, tongue, and fangs working her as if he owned her, she did not doubt he was a force to be reckoned with.
A few Alex quotes from throughout the book:
“I would hold you down until you stopped fighting me, until you surrendered to me, and I would show you how a real man treats a woman. I’d kiss every inch of you.” He feathered a kiss over her lips. “I’d caress every sensitive spot on your body.” His hand glided down her side. “I would make love to you until you couldn’t think straight.”
“I will do my job, Olivia. I will save us all.” He kissed her again, forcefully. “But you’re the only fool here if you think this is over between us. I love you. Don’t ask me why or how? We both know you’re the most infuriatingly frustrating woman on the planet, but I love you anyway. Maybe even because of that attitude of yours. And it’s going to take a hell of lot more to get rid of me than even you’re capable of.
“You want me to fight. Well, I’m going to fight. For us. And the way I’m going to do it is to find a cure for you, and then I’ll kill all the bloody Hunters I come across. When this is over, I’m going to take you home with me and show you just how lethal I can be. Do you hear me? When you come out of this, I’m not going to be the nice guy anymore. I’m taking what’s mine, and that is you. Even if you’re kicking and screaming the whole way. Not even your superior strength will stop me.”
He grabbed her wrists and forced her arms down beside her head. “No, Olivia. You’re doing it again. You’re trying to avoid your feelings for me by distracting yourself sexually. This isn’t just sex, and you know it.” He shook his head, concern shadowing his features. “If you’re not ready to accept that, then we’re stopping. I want all of you, Olivia Fournier. I want your body, your mind, and your heart. I won’t accept anything less.”
"Olivia, that’s how it has to be. No reservations, no holding back. Complete surrender.” He caressed her cheek. “I want to make love to you, slowly, until there’s nothing else in this world but the two of us. Until we know each other so intimately we never want to stop. We’ll drink from each other, we’ll feel each other’s emotions and desires. Do you want to take that leap with me?”

Or will Olivia’s trust issues and attempts to undermine Alex’s leadership cause them to lose more than a chance at love, but to lose their lives, as well?Longing for Surrender excerpts...Short excerpt from Chapter 3:
