Global Wealth In Tax Havens
As mentioned in Inequality - Some Harsh Facts, the Oxfam report recommended:
Closing tax havens, which the Tax Justice Network says hold as much as $31 trillion, or as much as a third of all global wealth, could yield an additional $189bn (£118bn) in additional tax revenues
What, as much as a third of global wealth stashed away in tax havens. $31 trillion!
So when the public "rescued the financial system", who did we really bail out?
Why didn't our governments ask for 10 or 20% of that wealth? Presumably if the financial system had collapsed, that money would have all been lost. So it looks as if we the public are suffering financial hardship not of our own making to prop-up billionaire tax cheats and those that were responsible. Shows which side our governments are on.
It is a disgrace the money is not being used to alleviate financial hardships worldwide.
