Americans, Once Again Riddled With The Germ of Destruction
What price freedom? Another Western "justice system" causes the death of a member of the public. The US legal profession is ruthless & non-accountable, just as it is here in the UK.
Internet freedom activist, writer & political organizer, Aaron Swartz, died last Friday in the US. Accused of illegally downloading research documents, he took his own life. It seems the threat of 35 years in prison and a fine of more than $1m was too much for this 26-year-old.
His family stated the actions of both MIT and the Massachusetts US Attorney's office had contributed to his death. "Aaron's death is not simply a personal tragedy. It is the product of a criminal justice system rife with intimidation and prosecutorial overreach".
