Possible cover for Part IV. The background looks a little darker as a jpg than it did as I was creating it. I think I might change the background texture…maybe something a little pinker! It would suit “Bohdi”.

I think, perhaps, this reseller overestimates my popularity…
But if anyone wants to buy this used book from them for $999.11 be my guest! (Or you can download the ebook free).
Goodreads Giveaways
I think in a previous post I moaned about an advertising ploy not working the way I expected and promised to blog about it.
Well, the “ploy” was the Goodreads Giveaway of I Bring the Fire Part I. I thought that if I put in the entry description that you can download the eBook free it would start a flurry of free ebook downloads.
No. Not at all.
Also, the end of the Giveaway only generated a few sales, not actually enough to even cover the cost of the Giveaway itself.
I will do it again, but with less expectations. I think having a paperback version of the book maybe good for book fairs. Also, I’ll probably try doing a talk at Barnes and Noble someday soon—and will get all 3 first parts, and In the Balance in print. (I’ll probably just append In the Balance to Chaos).

It's the Little Things...
OpenOffice generates much tidier HTML than word. It just took me about 20 minutes to clean up the Spanish version of I Bring the Fire to prep for Kindle.
…Which means a much shorter conversion time for Fates when it’s that time.
Rough Draft of Fates is Done...
Rough draft of Fates, Part IV of I Bring the Fire is done. That is all.
(It feels like a good story, whether that holds true or not, I have no idea yet).

The real reason not to respond to negative reviews...
It’s really hard to turn off the snark.

Genre versus Author Platform? Which Matters More? by C.S. Lakin — The Book Designer
Genre versus Author Platform? Which Matters More? by C.S. Lakin
I actually have written some popular Fanfiction stories that are *almost* pure romance: The Native (Sarek/Amanda), Descartes Error (Spock/Uhura), Blue (Loki/Darcy) and Logical Propositions (Kirk/T’Pring).
I wonder about giving this a go. Maybe a mystery romance—something with just enough science in it to keep ME entertained? (I notice that Bookbub has the largest subscriber base for mysteries and contemporary romance)
SMALL EXCERPT FROM FATES
From Part IV of I Bring the Fire.
Amy grabs Bohdi’s hand, leans closer, and smiles up at him in a very good imitation of adoration. He looks down and forces a smile in return. He takes a deep breath. It’s only a trick, a fake acceptance to a non-marriage-proposal, why is his dinner threatening to make an encore?
In Hindi Gabbar says, “It is a glory to die with honor.”
Oh, yeah. Odin might kill him.

IBF Featured Today on Kindle Books & Tips (i.e. I Try All The eBook Advertisers So You Don't Have To)
I Bring the Fire Book I is being featured on Kindle Books & Tips. It was a relatively low priced ad: $25 for a free book. So far I’ve had about 20 downloads. Considering it is only 8 a.m., the ads only been live since 5 a.m., that isn’t bad. I’m the last book to be featured on the page, which isn’t grand, but I think other people may have paid more for their placements.
The audience for the blog tends to trend women between 35-60, which is my core audience. We’ll see how it goes—and the advertiser master list will be updated accordingly.

Research for I Bring the Fire Part IV! (At least I’m counting it as research). I don’t even know what Dhoom 3, but these guys are hilarious!
I’m wondering if Bohdi could give up a hat tip to these guys. Maybe they’re how he gets most of the information on his culture?
Might be too obscure for Western audiences though?
