Stephen King’s Top 20 Rules for Writers

Stephen King’s Top 20 Rules for Writers:
In one of my favorite Stephen King interviews, for The Atlantic, he talks at length about the vital importance of a good opening line. “There are all sorts of theories,” he says, “it’s a tricky thing.” “But there’s one thing” he’s sure about: “An opening line should invite the reader to begin the story.

Read it!

Blue Loki is the best Marvel!Loki. Don’t know how you can do him justice without dealing with the fact that he’s blue, and he has over 1,000 years of internalized racism.

There are no new ideas…yes, blue Loki did influence I Bring the Fire. Although I chose to go with a different interpretation. (Cackles in amusement).

it pisses me off how writing doesn’t get people money unless they’re like jk rowling like writing books should be one of the highest paying jobs in the world that shit is hard

i bet that open heart surgeries are harder

Open heart surgeries can be taught. You can’t teach a person a world that no one else has created.

First off: writing makes a lot of people money who aren’t JK Rowling. They aren’t making JK Rowling money, but neither are 99.999999% of the world.

Second off: writing can be taught, maybe not to everyone. Same thing with open heart surgeries—not everyone can learn it. (I’ve taken gross anatomy before, there was a certain percentage of the class that failed—and doing the surgery requires at least a fundamental understanding of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology…do I really need to go on?)

Want to know something else about surgeons and authors? Both work for free or for shit for some period of their lives. Authors until they write that first book that is picked up by a publisher or self-published. Doctors during residency, in the U.S., at least, work crazy hours that are unhealthy, and have hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt to pay off.

Finally got Part I of "I Bring the Fire" onto Google Play

Some authors are making more money on Google than on Amazon. I would just like something to be slightly closer to Amazon.

I will say, it was a huge pain in the tuckus, but I’ll be steadily adding all my other works there.

If you have your own work you want to upload, this Kboard’s post is your bible.

Here’s my link Google Play fans. (Now I have to update my sidebar…when I was a kid my parents forced me to learn to type…I’m going to force my kids to learn to type AND learn HTML. Two of the most darn useful skills I have).

Making Self Publishing Pay

Making Self Publishing Pay:

K. Matthew, Scarlet Delorne, Marla Braziel and my personal favourite Sky Corgan, with most of the books aimed at the erotica market Kyler Mathews is quickly establishing a firm foothold, with a growing world wide readership.

For all my friends writing fanfiction smut…You could make a living from it! (Supposedly, I’ve read other erotica authors say they put a lot of time into promotion, etc.)

#Badass compilation

In mythology Angrboda was the chieftess of the Ironwood, and a powerful sorcerous. She was murdered by Odin and the Aesir. In I Bring the Fire I gave the role of chieftess of the Iron Wood to Gullveig—some scholars argue that she was Angrboda. I wanted to explore 3 romances in Loki’s life—I made Angrboda the “maiden”, Sigyn the “matron”, and Gullveig will be the “older” woman. It was Gullveig’s death that was supposedly the final rift between Loki and the gods.

Just a heads up...

I’m going to be ending the “introductory” pricing for Fates: Part IV or I Bring the FIre tomorrow. I’ll raise the price from $2.99 to $3.99—and it might go up to $4.95—not sure yet!

Now is a good time to pick it up on Amazon or Smashwords.

Not familiar with the I Bring the Fire series? The first is free at:

Amazon US, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Sony, and Smashwords
