The #1 Answer in Product: It Depends

The internet lends itself to binary positions: you’re either for something or against it, advocating it or decrying it. It’s not just Twitter’s 280 characters that limit us to this black and white thinking, most blog posts and conference talks seem to follow the same trend.

This makes it hard to compare jobs, plan your career, and attract the right talent to your team. While there is still no one-size-fits-all solution, a standard is emerging from most successful product teams and organisations that can serve as a template for your own:

What we can Learn from Electric Scooter Companies like Lime and Bird

Famously, back in 2001, inventor Dean Kamen was going to change the world. The buzz just before the launch of his Segway personal transporter was astonishing. Tech investor John Doerr posited that it would be more important than the internet. South Park devoted an episode to making fun of the hype before the product was released. Steve Jobs said that it was “as big a deal as the PC”. But when it finally launched it was a commercial flop.

So the technology behind today’s rapidly growing electr...

8 Years of Growth in the World’s Largest Product Management Community

Eight years ago today I started the ProductTank meetup in London so it’s a great time to look back, take stock of what we’ve built, and celebrate what has become the world’s largest product management community.

In the Beginning

Anyone who’s done product management for a while knows that this job can be a little lonely – there’s usually only one of you, the engineers all gang up on you, and there’s no one to learn from, no one to share with, and no one to share your woes with. Eight years ago...
