Kherak Var savait que ses jours étaient comptés. En tant que chaman du genre Troll, elle a eu une idée du moment où elle irait servir aux pieds de la déesse qu’elle préférait. Dire qu’elle n’avait pas peur ne serait pas la vérité, car seul un imbécile ne craint pas la mort, et Kherak n’était pas un imbécile. Les visions, qui étaient aussi un cadeau de sa magie et de son genre, étaient devenues plus intenses et plus troublantes ces derniers temps, et celles-ci jouaient sur son esprit plus que la question de rejoindre ses ancêtres. Tous les chemins mènent à la guerre. C’est ce qu’elle avait dit au Magelord Archos, Seigneur de la Tempête, qui avait aussi la faveur de la Déesse Ethnii’a, Dame du Ciel. C’était vrai, ou du moins c’est ce que les visions et son Opale Arcane criante informaient le vieux Chaman, et elle se trompait rarement dans ses interprétations. Tous les chemins mènent à la guerre, mais les chemins eux-mêmes pourraient être raccourcis. Ces chemins plus adaptés aux compétences de ses alliés les plus infâmes resteraient dans l’ombre jusqu’à ce que ceux qui contrôlaient les ombres les amènent à s’attaquer aux plus grandes ténèbres qui tenaient le pays d’Erana sous un poing de fer. L’ombre et la lumière travaillant ensemble pourraient-elles dissiper un régime aussi enraciné que l’Ordre des chasseurs de sorcières et leurs lois qui divisent ? Kherak ne savait vraiment pas. La magie n’avait pas encore disparu d’un pays où elle était interdite, malgré tous les efforts de l’Ordre pour qu’il en soit ainsi. Ce serait une guerre inégale, et le vainqueur était loin d’être certain, mais il y avait de l’espoir, et les guerres avaient été menées avec moins.
La guerre ne l’affecterait pas, car Kherak serait cendrée dans la grotte-crypte au moment où la terre coulerait de sang, mais sa fille, la Shamania Mirandra, devrait mener sa tribu à la guerre et tout ce que cela impliquait. Ils auraient besoin des alliés et des compétences d’autrefois. Beaucoup de choses ont été perdues et il faut maintenant les retrouver une fois de plus. L’impossible devrait devenir possible et ceux qui habitaient dans des endroits secrets devaient se faire connaître.

What is your writing process? For instance do you do an outline first? Do you do the chapters first?
My writing process is pretty straightforward. Often, I will do a simple breakdown for the first five chapters to get started on a book. This will lead me to get an idea in what direction I need to go in order to write the characters correctly. However, this outline usually isn’t set in stone. The characters usually decide how things go and they never like to stick to what I have planned. Therefore, I outline as I write. If I get stuck I will brain storm with my author pals and work my way out of the area I dug myself in. Then I will work forward until I need to figure out what happens next.
I go with the flow when I write and try to stick to the plot twists I originally worked out, but sometimes I find I have to add some in throughout the story. There was one book I put a reason for a specific easter egg to be dropped in the story only to forget what it meant. That is why I like Scrivener. I can write notes in folders, sticky notes, and pretty much any place in the file and find it when I need it. Plus, I can organize my characters, places, notes, and books within a series. I have one scrivener file for the entire world of Tarzinëa so far. And that is turning into an extensive file.
When I wrote “The Sunflower Meadow” I had a brief idea for the story and didn’t even plan it out. I just started writing it and would outline when I got stuck. But that book wrote itself. It didn’t cause me any issues, and I got it done in a month before a strict deadline. And I loved the story and is one of my favorites that has clean romance in it.
