Cover Reveal – Unrequited

It crept up on me, but today is the day! My publisher officially revealed the cover for my first YA/NA novel, Unrequited. This book is a departure from the rom-coms I traditionally write, and I cannot wait for it to hit the shelves in April.

Thank you again to everyone for all the support since I began this writing adventure!

Take Me To Your Leader…No, Seriously…I Wanna Meet Him

20131118_111535-1

For years I have talked about “those” people, you know the ones. They are the people who love Star Wars and read comic books, and maybe sometimes wear costumes to conventions. If you had asked me if I knew those people, I would say “yes”. Some are my brothers, some are good friends, but never ever would I have considered myself one of them.

Today I make a confession: Not only am I one of them, I may be, like, sergeant-at-arms at the weekly meeting of “those” people (I would never pretend to be...

Let’s Make A Deal…

let's make a deal

I have a publisher!!!

If you had told me two weeks ago that I would be able to say the above words, I would have said you were a fake and a phony and a meanie for taunting me in such a cruel way.

Yet I am now able to say that my sweet little can-I-even-write-young-adult-novels novel, Unrequited, has been optioned by a publisher and will be released in April 2014. More details to come once all the wrinkles are ironed out, but for now…

I have to Celebrate!!!

Circus of the Stars…

Circus-of-the-Stars

This summer was one for the books, and was also responsible for my long hiatus from blogging. There were extreme high’s in the form of trips and events and good times with family and friends. There were extreme lows with the passing of loved ones and the stress that comes with juggling life and work.

Through all of the days and weeks of summer, there was one common thread…celebrity encounters. It seems every where I went for the past three months, I was somehow rubbing elbows with the who’s wh...

Welcome to the Block Party…

DEA13 0606 NewKids 6198

My name is Emily…and I love New Kids on the Block.

My writing has been suffering lately. It suffers every year during the summer, or as I like to call it “Tour Season”. Since their reunion in 2008, New Kids on the Block have done countless shows around the world, and I have been to a good portion of them. I’m part of a group of 30-something year old women who proudly call themselves “Blockheads” and relive their teenage years for a couple of hours here and there with the five guys from Boston....

A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes…

Alan+Thicke

I’d say I dream quite a bit…at the least, I seem to remember my dreams three nights out of a week. Sometimes I can trace a dream to something that was happening as I slept (fell asleep once while a schlocky sci-fi movie was on, and dreamt a gigantic spider was landing on me.)

For the most part I have always thought dreams were random, and really didn’t mean anything.

There is one exception, however, and that is the reoccurring dream. If a dream bothers to make repeat performances, there has to...

He Stopped Loving Her Today…

george_jones-209148

As I type these words, I am watching the memorial of George Jones. The audience is a who’s-who of country music. The songs and eulogies are moving, and I cannot lie…I have cried more than a few tears.

Like a lot of people my age, I feel like I have always known George Jones. That voice is like no other. His trials and tribulations are legendary, and so is his redemption. He is a man who lived a life, with all it’s ups and downs, and left us with some of the best songs ever written.

I remember a...

Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Lawyers…

law school

Once upon a time, in a far-off galaxy, there was a world very much like our own…where I was a law student. It was a funny world where you make the best friends you will ever have, while also trudging through the worst decision of your life…becoming a lawyer.

It was about mid-way through my 2L year when I knew that perhaps I had made a terrible mistake, but as I was already substantially in debt, I figured I might as well see it through. After-all, you can do lots of stuff with a law degree, ri...

Let’s Bump Up The Lights…

Carol

Just like the leading lady in my first novel, I’m a list-maker. As I may have mentioned before, one of my favorite lists is my List of People I Would Like To Meet (and this list has not changed since I was about 8 years old).

1. Jim Henson

2. Carol Burnett

3. Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers if you know what’s what)

I believe there is a heavenly world beyond our own, so I never feel a need to update this list just because someone has passed, I’ll catch em on the other side if need be. Today, the number tw...

There Are Only The Pursued, The Pursuing, The Busy, and The Tired…

The-Great-Gatsby

I’m a classics gal. I like old movies, old-fashioned manners, and pretty much anything that fits into the “oldie but a goodie” category…so it’s no surprise that when it comes to books, I like to read the classics. Dickens, Austen, Fitzgerald, Poe, Doyle…the list goes on and on.

My all-time favorite book is A Tale of Two Cities…and I’m a little shocked that Hollywood hasn’t done a big budget version for the silver screen in recent years (since Hollywood seems to always want to recycle the old a...
