Organising inspiration from my iPhone

I was clearing out my iphone photos because I kept getting rude messages about not enough storage space when I needed to download podcasts and audio books, and I found a few interesting photos I thought I should share.

I’ve written about organising for the sentimental person before. If you click those links, you’ll get a nice flashback like I just did.

One of my key tips is to take a photo and release the physical item.

Anyway, have a read and see if you could use any of these tips :)

Good ideas and thoughts on organising

I took a...

My Word of the Year update

We’re nearly 6 months into 2015 and June is a very good time for a review.

I’ll talk more about the half-year review in a week or two, but this week, let’s talk about our word of the year.

My word of the year for 2015 is enough.

Word of the year update | Organising Queen
You can read more about it here.

So let’s do some inventory. How has this word been working for me?

The short answer? Great!

The longer answer…

It’s been a great reminder when I feel like I don’t know enough about the new part of the industry I now work in, that I D...

Power hour

I always have a notebook on the passenger seat of my car. In this notebook, I jot down my commute times to and from work (it helps me to think of it as a race… but a safe race, because I don’t speed), anything interesting I want to remember from a podcast or audio book and to-do lists.

The other day I wrote down 6 items in just 37 minutes (it was a good day!).

I pulled out the page from the spiral-bound book and walked into the building with it clutched in my hand.

My colleague asked about it...

My reading rhythms

I recently read a great post on Emily Freeman’s blog.

She’s The Nester’s sister. Have you listened to their Hopeologie podcast yet? I could listen to them forever :)

Anyway, the post discussed reading rhythms which is so interesting to me because I thought I was the only weird one who read certain types of books only at specific times.

I read non-fiction and fiction.

Did you know there are people who only read non-fiction? I can’t even imagine that :)

Letting go of your goals or dreams

I’m a big fan of goal-setting and goal-getting. You all know that.

I’m also not a big fan of giving up. You know that too.

What you may not know is that I’m terrible at letting go.

In fact, my favourite parenting book ever, Motherstyles, says that the biggest challenge for my personality type, ESTJ, is letting go.

So true.

But sometimes it’s the best thing to do.

Usually I do a fairly big goals review at the end of June but I felt like doing it at the end of May this year. I like to yield to...

May goals review and June goals

So it’s June.

I can hardly believe it but it feels like I say this at this time of year, every year.

May goals review | www.OrganisingQueen.com

May was just as full and busy at work – this is the new normal.

But let’s move onto the highlights and lowlights: Reached 82% of my goals (down from 85% in April but way higher than I thought before I sat myself down on Goals Night) I slept an average of 7 hrs 4 mins per night which is great but slightly short of my goal. I did the talk at the Jozi meetup and it went well. Here is the basic...

some reading for the weekend

I so love sharing fun things with all of you. I actually have to tone it down to just 5 links every month :)

Some reading for the weekend |www.OrganisingQueen.com

Well friends, you all know I’m a big Gretchen Rubin fan so that’s my disclaimer but honestly, I ‘m LOVING her latest book, Better Than Before. I’m listening to the Audible version while I drive to and from work, but choose whichever version works best for your personality style.

Things I already know – I’m a night owl, I’m a finisher, I’m an underbuyer mostly with some overbuyer tendenc...

1 year with my Fitbit

I bought a Fitbit Flex last year and it arrived on 26 May 2014.

Here’s where I wrote about using it after the first seven weeks.

1 year with the Fitbit | www.OrganisingQueen.com

The good I’m still wearing it all the time except when I shower. The band is easy to attach now that I’m used to it. I love tracking my water. I super love tracking my sleep. Confession – this is probably my favourite Fitbit feature. I’ve mentioned in my monthly goals posts how I’ve been tracking my sleep on a monthly basis. The ultimate goal is to get 7 hours 30...

Something’s 3 today! & Dealing with distractions

Guys, guess what turns 3 today? That’s right – it’s exactly 3 years since my book was released on this day in 2012, which was a Friday.

Go have a look and get yourself a copy – if you buy a physical or Kindle copy this week, send me your receipt and I’ll send you the PDF version for free :)

********************************************************

I’ve felt very distracted lately.

There are so many things I have to deal with at work, all at once, and at home too.

So when I sit down to do someth...
