New review on Android Dreamer
A big thank you to Matt over at Android Dreamer for the positive book review for Zeus, Inc. This is the second time it’s been compared to the Percy Jackson books and I take that as a huge compliment.
My favorite part of the review was this:
“The most important part of the believability and overall likability of Alex is that she is flawed; she is not a perfect hero, and the depth of character lends itself to realism despite a fantastic setting.”
Interestingly enough, I put a lot of thought into this very thing when it came to Alex. She had to be flawed – she had to be real.
Thanks again, Matt! You can read the full review here.

Guest Post on TeamNerd Reviews
I was recently asked by TeamNerd Reviews to write a guest post about women of strength, in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month. In the end, there was only one woman of strength I could write about: my mother.
What I ended up writing turned out to be extremely emotional and very personal for me. You can read it here on the TeamNerd Reviews website.

If you follow me over at RantGaming.com, you’ll know I’ve been busy plugging away at posting the latest and greatest of video game news, reviews and opinions. But I still try to make time to give back to some of the blogs that have been helpful to me, along the way.
So when I was asked to do a guest post for Dianna’s Writing Den in honor of NaNoWriMo next month, how could I refuse?

Celebrating women of strength
The month of October will be celebrating womanhood! The strength, beauty, and inspiration that women hold and provide to the world everyday. Women carry many titles: mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, best friends, nieces, granddaughters, chef, laundry person, nurse. Women are the nurturers, the quiet strength that holds a family together, and beacons of love for everyone who needs it.
TeamNerd Reviews is teaming up with family, friends, reviewers, bloggers, and authors throughout October to bring some inspirational and powerful stories of great women. And yours truly (that would be me) has even submitted a guest post to celebrate the strength of women, including one woman in particular: my mother.
In addition to the many posts that will be coming in throughout the month, they will also be throwing a fun giveaway!
One lucky winner will receive the following:

Review of Zeus, Inc. on All Things Books
I’ve received another great review, this time on the All things books blog. I especially love this line: “Zeus Inc. reminds me of a cross between the Percy Jackson series and the Tek Wars books.”

Gearing up for NaNoWriMo
It’s almost that time of the year. That time when many of us writers get really excited and start preparing for it months in advance. Yes! NaNoWriMo is almost upon us. And as last year proved to be so good for me (I finished Zeus, Inc.), I’m going to be working on the Zeus, Inc. sequel this year.
I have started outlining the story for the next installment of The Alex Grosjean Adventures series. And it’s really starting to come together. Paris gave me a lot of inspiration, but I’ve also been reading up more on Greek mythology and some of the lesser known gods and creatures, particularly the Vrykolakas and Hekate. In fact, the story is tentatively titled The Curse of Hekate.
I can’t wait for November to begin! I’m still working on The Book of Revelations trilogy, but it’s on the back-burner for now. Alex won’t stop speaking to me inside my head.

Trading the fantastical for the mundane
Paris 2012, a set on Flickr.
Almost in the blink of an eye, my trip is over and I have returned home to “wonderful” things like sewage problems and enough emails to physically drown in. But alas, so goes the world of vacation, right?
I do, however, have many wonderful memories of my trip, along with some great ideas for the sequel to Zeus, Inc. Paris truly is a city of inspiration and was a very suitable muse for me.
So what’s this? You’d like to see some photos? Well, here is everything I have. Warning: There are lots of pastry shots. If you find yourself wanting to lick the screen, please do so at your own peril.
