#standing in Clover

You are here. When I ran across a quote on Pinterest that said, “Be where you’re standing,” it felt like one of those heaven-nudges. Because as Jim Eliot once said, “Wherever you are, be all there.” So you can expect more #standing posts … because I’ll be blooming wherever I’m planted. ✿

Mother-Daughter Duo

My daughter Elza and I  collaborate quite a bit, especially in creative ways. This year, we kicked off a book blog together (because we both read/write middle grade), and we tweet as @kindeladies. Follow us >>

The Three: Aleff

Do you need another reason to get hold of a copy of The Three, the first book in the Forsaken Sons trilogy? How about this. How about Aleff?

There weren’t many places he could go where Aleff wouldn’t follow, so Ben wasn’t surprised when his caretaker appeared on the stream’s opposite bank. “Little Ben Peep’s been gnawing on sheep,” Aleff said in a sing-song voice.

Benaiah despaired of understanding half the nonsense Aleff spouted. He burped loudly and replied, “Goat, actually.”

“Sounds … delectable.”

For the record, I wrote The Three a few years before deciding to give readers a sneak peek and introducing Aleff in … you know which story, right?

#MGCarousel

Did you know that my fictional debut is a middle grade book? MG refers to books appropriate for audiences aged 8-12, and The Blue Door fits nicely in that range. By contrast, YA (young adult) titles are suited to readers aged 13 and up. When it comes to reading fiction, you’ll mostly find me in the middle grade section of the library. Which is why it makes total sense that I’m collaborating on a book blog with my daughter, who also writes MG.

Come see what we’re about. Follow our blog. Bookstagram with us. And I’d be delighted if you (or members of your household) decide to take part in one of our challenges. Elza just unveiled our summer reading challenge. Who else wants to play a bit of Book Bingo in June?  #MGCarousel is at Elymnifoquent.com >>
