Magical pond that changes color with the weather

Kent Shiraishi took these photos of the Blue Pond, a beautiful body of water in Hokkaido, Japan. Blue Pond receives so much attention because of its shimmering blue hue, which changes into a lovely green in certain light. This pond owes its colors to aluminium hydroxide, a mineral which reflects blue light.

Particle Tracks On Film from the Fermilab Bubble Chamber.

These are actually super cool you guys. I’ve seen them a lot before but I never found an explanation (I didn’t look that hard, to be honest). But we talked a little bit about them in class last week.

And the thing that’s the coolest is that when you see a V shape, that’s either one particle of matter, and one of anti-matter, like an electron and a positron, coming together and you see their tracks disappear, or an electron and a positron splitting apart and you see tracks after they split.

The fact that you can see that visually here is just beyond incredible.
