Birthday girl!
It's my lovely goddaughter Bea's birthday today - she made a Kermit gif a while ago when we spent an afternoon together, and here he is again to say happy birthday!
Happy birthday Bea! Hope you have a great day. xxx

Filter fun!
I'm working on a new idea, and wanted to do an atmospheric picture to see
if I could get the look I'd like. I had fun doing this kind of filter with Showtime!
when Billie is having stage fright...
And oh look, here's quite a similar composition really ahem!! This is Mr Magnifico doing his butterfly trick, with someone sinister watching on from the audience... the audience have the Hue/Saturation filter over them, set on Multiply, so they're a bit darker and less saturated.
And here's with a different setting, further desaturated, which I think I like... I foresee endless fiddling ahead!
Photoshop RULES - ain't that the truth??
Sometimes I worry that I'm too dependant on my computer for colouring, and if the day comes that all computers go busto I'll be in trouble... then I remember that if the day dawns when all computers are indeed bust, we'll be facing bigger problems than whether I can desaturate a hat-wearing rabbit to the right degree...

October picture
Katie at Storytellers, Inc. asked me if I'd like to contribute to their 2016 calendar - and I was lucky enough to snap up October!
I've enjoyed working on it, although I went through a few iterations before settling...
First I was thinking something Toucans-based:
It was good to remember how much I love drawing these two - it was like looking at the faces of old friends again - but this didn't feel like it was working. I think it's partly the difference between the function of an illustration as part of a narrative verses one you might potentially be looking at every day for a month...
So then I did some Halloween costumes:
I love using the black background against the bright colours, but nothing much was going on here.
Then I thought about making a small narrative, and drawing characters at a size I feel comfortable with, so I combined the two above ideas and got the one below.
I'm happy with this one - it gets across the atmosphere I was hoping for, and has a tiny narrative and a bit more to look at.
I'm looking forward to seeing the other months!
"Lumos!" - or, as Emma suggested on Instagram: "Lumouse!"
