Dogs In Space: Dogs With Something To Say

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

A good piece of fiction is alive.  It has a personality, a sense of being, and like any living creature, it surprises you.  Those living fictions are the ones that reach us and make an impression, often one that surprises us.

This is why I’m reviewing Dogs in Space.  Not the 1980’s slice-of-life band move.  I’m reviewing the Y7 Netflix series literally about dogs traveling in space to find ...

A Few Covid Notes

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

As the Omicron variant crosses the world, here’s some resources that have helped me. Note I am not an expert, these are things I dug up listening to far more experienced people. Please double-check me of course and provide feedback, I hope these can be a starting point.

Vaccinate and Boost

Well, that’s a given. Vaccinate. Boost. Check with your doctor. I figure I don’t have to say ...

Steve’s Update 11/28/2021

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Here’s my latest update. Slightly complicated by one busy Thanksgiving week!

The Way With Worlds series: The Man-Made Disasters book is in editing, out by or before mid-December.. I’ll start the “Misinformation, Disinformation, and Propaganda” in Q1 with the roundup “Disaster Response” in Q2/Q3.

Other Books: As noted I have two “maybe” books that are compiled from columns. I’ll review t...

Good News – You’re Not Worth It!

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Many creatives spend time bashing themselves. They’re angry they’re not doing more work. They’re enraged their writing isn’t better. They worry they’re not making enough at their supposedly “fun” calling.

No one can be crueler to a creative than themselves. Creatives know their weaknesses and have the imagination to find new ways to harangue themselves.

I’d lay odds you do the same thing...

Steve’s Update 11/21/2021

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Whew, another busy week. But a lot getting done.

Consider some of these future plans a little tentative. During the Christmas holiday I want to really re-evaluate my plans for the next few years.

The Way With Worlds series: I got the cover done, and now it’s just waiting on my editor. Shout-out to the friend who helped me A/B test the art. You’ll get to see the cover in my newsletter...

Run Deep Not Shallow

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

My friend Serdar tweeted thusly:

“speculation: nostalgia for 8/16-bit gaming / computing is nostalgia for an era of dedicated devices and focused time, an era when you could sit down to write or play sth and not have 200 tabs assault you sidelong”

As I retrogame, I had to think this statement over. I came away with the conclusion Serdar wasn’t right in the whole, because there are many r...

Steve’s Update 11/14/2021

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Let’s get to my weekly update! Exhausting few weeks, but I’m still going. Well that and playing Rogue Empire.

The Way With Worlds series: The Man-Made Disasters book is off to the editor. This is a bit of a tight timeline, but I want to get it out in November. Considering the holiday that may or may not happen.

A School of Many Futures: Is out in print. Man, wrestling with alignment is...

Awe and Fear of the Minds Fire

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

I am absolutely in awe of human creativity because people use their imagination to believe so much bullshit. A quick scroll through Twitter or glance at the news shows many people believing the most inane conspiracy theories. Humans can create lies as well crafted as any work of literature and believe them utterly.

At the same time, I am genuinely in awe of the good human imagination can do...

Steve’s Update 11/7/2021

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Hello everyone, hope you’re doing well. I’m coming back after a busy week.

The Way With Worlds series: The book on Man-Made Disasters is in progress. I expect to get it to the editor sometime this week – a few days behind, but still. Also the feedback coming back suggests that the next “Disaster” book should be on disinformation and propaganda! Which fits . . .

A School of Many Futur...
