Relatively Famous!

Hello! Finally back to posting here... sigh... It's been a while, I know. I now have my first young adult book, RELATIVELY FAMOUS, up on Amazon! It's currently in ebook form, and will be in printed book form within the next few weeks. I also just, just finished writing my second YA book and hope to have it all edited and to my agent soon. Fingers crossed!RELATIVELY FAMOUS was a labor of love, and I am still crazy about this story, even though I finished writing it months ago... Stop by my...

We're Back

I know it's been awhile since either JP or I have posted, and I am certain all 11 of our readers have been dying to know what, why and where are we? Well, you can officially stop holding your breath as I am back, and with a little twist of the arm I am sure I can get JP to write one of her roll on the ground, tears in the eyes laughter posts again.

I know that JP has been busy writing new books, being an awesome Mom--and promoting her new YA release "Relatively Famous," which is a fun, fantast...

Powerless and Pissy

(The kid and I wrote this blog yesterday, but I'm happy to say we now have power!)
Oh. God. Killlll meeeeeee! It's Friday night and we haven't had power since just before midnight on Thursday. I'm a baby about this. People have gone without the comforts of electricity for much longer than this, but I am near the edge of insanity. I have zero coping skills.
Thursday
12: 10 a.m.: Wind is atrocious. Howling, annoying, relentless. The last woman is about to skate her individual Olympic performance ...

One Book's 15 Year Journey

El Patron is finally available! I am so excited about this book. It has been a journey to see this book in print. I don't know if any of our eight readers care, but whatever, I'm gonna "blab" for a minute about this book's journey, and then maybe you will understand why I refer to it as a journey.

I'm going waaaaayyyy back now. In 1991 I gave birth to my first son Alex. He was six weeks preemie and had some health issues that dictated that I stay home with him and not work at the time. I was f...

Favorite Things

I'm wondering what are your favorite things? That would of course be you, JP, since we have decided that we are likely writng this blog for our own pure entertainment. But if anyone out there would like to chime in with your list, please do so. This isn't in any particular order.

So here are a few of my favorite things, places, people, etc:
1. Coming up with new story ideas.
2. Finishing a book.
3. Red wine, smoked gouda cheese, and crusty sourdough bagette
4. My horses, husband, and kids and dogs...

Brad and Angie Split?

Say it isn't so. All of these rumors about Brad and Angie are depressing me. Okay, so yes--I am on team Brangelina. I have nothing against Jennifer Aniston. I think she is a lovely, funny, intelligent woman. And I do think she got the shaft. First off, who knows what goes on behind closed doors. Nobody but the people involved. People fall out of love and that sucks but it's reality. So, Brad and Angelina obviously fell in love and now there's a bazillion kids involved. That is why I want to s...

Lucky # 7

It's been awhile since I've been on Adventuresnwriting. Lots of stuff has happened since I've last been here to say, "hi," and give a little tidbit into the life of a writer, mother, friend, et al. Life has been busy and full of all sorts of distractions. But who needs distractions and busy?  Instead, I want to talk about "Who is on my Island." You know what I mean. It's that handful of  people you would want on your deserted island. The ones you won't get tired of gawking at. It's like...

Superpowers

I love talking to my son. He's so... so.... interesting. And opinionated.

Kid: Mommy, if you could have any superpower at all, what would it be?

Me (without missing a beat): My power would be to magically clean the house. Particularly the dishes.

The kid shoots me death ray looks.

Me (scurrying to make up for this hideously stupid remark): I wish I could fly.

Kid (looking pointedly at me and speaking rather snidely): I would have the power to teleport to another dimension.

Shit. The kid totally ou...

Childproofed

We would like to welcome Reese Reed today on the blog. Reese has written a poignant story for anyone who has ever been a mother. Filled with humor, love, and serious growth, we are pleased to turn you onto Reese's debut novel, "Childproofed."

When people ask me what "Childproofed" is about, I'll admit that I stumble. It's not that it's a difficult question to answer, it's just that most of the time the people who ask me are the ones I realize probably
won't "get it." For example, just this week...
