Help Make It Happen on @IndieGoGo the 28mm Teddy Bear Tales Miniature Project

28mm Teddy Bear Tales Gaming Miniatures Project

28mm Teddy Bear Tales Gaming Miniatures Project

Okay Teddy Bear Army, as I speak Tristan the Teddy Bear and his companion piece a No Name Monster under the Bed are in the hands of Valiant Miniatures to be cast as pin-sharp 28mm Resin Miniatures (Toy Soldiers).

To help make it happen and maybe get a third miniature the Knocker sculpted by Alex Garrett and cast I’ve opened an IndieGoGo campaign to help fund this excursion into making Tristan at a new scale.

Stretch Goal - Knocker Miniature Sculpt

Stretch Goal – Knocker Miniature Sculpt

Make no mistake the miniatures in hand are going to be cast, but I really would like to get the Knocker done and maybe explore this part of Tristan’s world with a possible miniature game as well.

So please help make this happen, back the IndieGoGo Campaign and back this project. The miniatures make unique gaming pieces or collectibles for Teddy Bear fans and Gamers alike, and are cast in child-safe resin.

An Awesome Lego Serenity Firefly Build by Adrian Drake

Lego Serenity by Adrian Drake

Lego Serenity by Adrian Drake

Yep, this is pretty epic and while I know this has been doing the rounds on the internet for sometime – the Lego Serenity only came to my attention a week ago.

Built by Adrian Drake, in a process that took over 475 hours, this amazing feat of Lego Engineering is over seven foot in length and is scaled to be populated by Minifigs. You can view all the official photos of Serenity over on Adrian’s Flickr feed.

Some days you just have to draw something simple, this is Tristan the Teddy Bear the Early Years

Tristan the Teddy Bear - The Early Years by Nick Davis

Tristan the Teddy Bear – The Early Years by Nick Davis

You have to return from time to time to the fundamentals and in this case I sat down, picked up a pencil and drew a simple Tristan the Teddy Bear.

While I am ain’t no Dan Nokes, this is just a simple watercolor drawing of a Teddy Bear who give unconditionally hugs  and protects his Child from harm in the Teddy Bear Tales.

Donation confirmed to the Help Bill Mantlo Project

First Appearance Rocket Raccoon for the Bill Mantlo Project by Nick Davis

First Appearance Rocket Raccoon for the Bill Mantlo Project by Nick Davis

Remember this? Two weeks ago I drew a first appearance Rocket Raccoon for the Help Bill Mantlo Project and but it up for bid on Ebay. When the funds cleared I sent the donation to Bill. Check out the confirmation after the jump.

For those of you who don’t know Bill Mantlo was a writer for Marvel Comics back in the late 70′s and early 80′s and created Rocket Raccoon along with other Marvel characters. He then went to work as a Lawyer for Legal Aid and was run-over by a hit-and-run driver leaving him mentally and physically handicapped.

Help Bill MantloOn behalf of my brother, BILL MANTLO, I want to thank you for your donation to the Bill Mantlo Support Fund. It is donations like yours that enable Bill to have an improved quality of life, and hope for a happier & healthier future. Your support is greatly appreciated!

THANK YOU SO MUCH,
Michael Mantlo,

A Kickstarter Choice Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature or a Tristan the Teddy Bear Sculpt

Tristan the Teddy Bears

Tristan the Teddy Bears

This update is mainly for the Backers who have funded Tristan and the Cuddly Defenders – Friends – Graphic Novel. Over the last week I’ve been busy mailing out the Kickstarter books and rewards, and have hit a bit of a problem.

Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature

Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature

Some of the Kickstarter rewards included a cast of the above Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature. Something that I felt I could make a mold out of and cast. Well… I am running into some issues with the mold making process and may need to call in some professional help to complete this process. Which would significantly delay the shipping of the remaining rewards – not a solution I really want to pursue.

Then I had a crazy idea and I called in the help of my wife Jean, who sculpts jewelry for her convention business Charmingly Geeky. I asked her if she could make a Tristan the Teddy Bear sculpture – she said she would have a swing at it and this is what she made.

Tristan the Teddy Bear Sculpture by Jean - Charmingly Geeky

Tristan the Teddy Bear Sculpture by Jean – Charmingly Geeky

And here he is… Tristan the Teddy Bear – hand sculpted out of polymer clay by Jean. He measures approx 2.5 inches in height and is approx 1.5 inches in width. In many ways because of size and the material he is much more Child-Friendly than the miniature cast out of resin.

I think Jean has done an amazing job and has allowed me to make you my Kickstarter Backers who opted for a Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature a choice of one of these three options to finish your Kickstarter journey with me.

Swap your Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature for a hand-sculpted Tristan the Teddy Bear – each Tristan will be hand-sculpted and numbered making it a completely unique Tristan piece for you to treasure.
Send the rest of your rewards and ship the Tristan the Teddy Bear Miniature when I’ve finally been able to get it to cast.
Wait out the casting of your Tristan the Teddy Bear miniature and ship everything out together.

Please let me know via the Kickstarter message system what option you would like to make.

If anyone is looking to purchase a Tristan the Teddy Bear Sculpture and is not a Kickstarter Backer stay tuned for details and I try to work something out with Charmingly Geeky.  Thank you all for your time.
