End Goal Unlocked Weight Target Achieved… Go Me!
Hello Everybody, it has been a while since I’ve talked about my Daily10 exercise regime and on the first anniversary I want to share with you some good news I’ve hit my target goal of 220lbs (the weight I was when I first entered the USA)… Yay!
I did this all through a steady 2000 – 2500 calorie diet and basically walking, nothing fancy, nothing revolutionary, just a steady progress to an achievable goal without taking away the joy of food (although soda disappeared completely). Low impact cardio and sensible eating really does work, yo! Plus I got to stay away from the hated gym.
Now all I need to do is tighten everything up a little bit, something about planking? and just keep moving, eat right and maintain my now slightly healthier Dad Bod. Thank y’all for listening! Hope you are having the success you want too!

What I Did For 31 Days Of Inktober 2016
Inktober is an annual event set in the month of October, the idea is you draw one ink-based sketch a day for thirty-one days. This is the third year I have taken part in this event and this year I choose the theme of Teddy Bear/Superhero mash-ups, with of course, my traditional Halloween themed Monster sketch to cap the event off at Day 31… Take the jump and see how I did.

Writing Without Fear: Reinventing The Fantastic Four Movie
Welcome of a new edition of Writing Without Fear, today I am taking a look at what has becoming the lonely redheaded step child of the collective Marvel Movie Universe, the Fantastic Four.
Once known as Marvel’s first family, the comic book that really launched Marvel into the superhero genre the Fantastic Four (FF) have pretty much become a joke whenever anyone tries to make a movie out of their storied history. The first two Fox efforts, had a certain charm about them, but didn’t pull the numbers the movie execs were looking for, and the latest incarnation Fantastic was just a five-finger stinker.
Now with the FF in development wasteland, and the characters scattered across the Marvel books (because Disney doesn’t want to do comic books of the characters other companies own) the question is, can another FF movie ever be possible?
Forget About Contemporary
Here at Writing Without Fear I believe it is and can be done in such a way that it would totally reinvent the FF and bring box office all at that same time. You see, the problem with the FF they are kinda cheesy and a product of their time which was the 60’s and I think that is where a FF movie should be set. Just look at that Jack Kirby panel, it tells you everything you need to know about the team.
Think about it, a FF movie with Mad Men attitude and a barrel full of their hypertech. Forget about trying to make the FF contemporary, they simply do not fit, their tech is crazy, silly, quite cheesy and belongs in another era of the Jetsons, but that is how you make them work as a team. We need to make this a period Superhero story and from there it writes itself, because the FF naturally fit into the 60’s.
The MCU has precedent of using legacy heroes in their universe with Antman and I don’t think it would be a stretch to reach a decade further back with a story about a Superteam of the time. You can use an opening credit scene to establish their origin, roll credits with a barrel full of cheesy FF merchandise, spinning covers to establish the FF as Superhero celebrities and then tell your story in full over-the-top 60’s grandeur.
You can even bring the FF into the current MCU timeline, by having a time experiment or dimension hop go wrong and blast them into the future. You would have Reed Richards figuring out all the new tech based off his less elegant (over the top) hypertech of the day and butting heads with Tony Stark, Johnny Storm stuck in mad men attitude for picking up women and totally striking out, Susan Storm finding out about equality and bringing it to Reed (who is still stuck in the 60’s) and of course Ben Grimm (played by an actor in a prosthetic suit) can be even more grumpy now he is really displaced from everything he loves… But that all would be a story for another time.
This Has To Happen
The Fantastic Four as a long and storied history in the Marvel Universe, it would be a shame for them to swept away because as a superhero movie they really don’t quite work. But with a little era shift, they would be so bombastic and unusually we could see them return to glory. This has to happen,.. So who’s with me?
One last thought… Matt Smith to play Reed Richards.
Drops mic…

Looks Like Tropical Storm Hermine Might Be Joining Us For Baltimore Comic Con Weekend [Don’t Panic]
Looks like we might be joined with by Tropical Storm Hermine this weekend, well based on current forecasts what will remain of the storm when it gets into our region. With that being said there remains a very real possibility we will get blasted by a lot of rain and see some woolly wind aiming to blast through Baltimore this weekend – with the likely effect of localized power outages, flash flooding, upturned umbrellas and soggy cosplayers.
Me? I will be deep in the bowels of Baltimore Comic Con this weekend, so join me at Artist Alley Table A82 and have a day out where you will remain largely dry and surrounded by comic book based adventures. But, in the interests of public awareness here is my of recommend safety tips to take you through the upcoming extreme natural event.
Monitor your local weather channel this weekend, get a battery radio to do this you will lose cellphone reception before you lose on old-fashioned battery radio signal. Cellphone towers do have their own generators, but run times will be limited.
If you are being evacuated it is for a very good reason… So go!
Pack up valuables (like you comic books, gaming system, man cave) and move them to higher ground (ie upstairs).
Secure any loose items outside like BBQ, flower pots, garbage cans etc…
Fill up containers with water in case you lose this utility.
One gallon per person per a day, store them in the bathtub. If you can get some ice place in the same area.
Pick up non-perishable food ie canned goods or hydrated food (ramen noodles) enough to last 2-3 days.
Keep at least a half tank of gas in your vehicle.
Pack an evacuation bag (one for each person in your house) make sure everyone in your household knows what to do.
Buy a lot of old leather so you can fashion cool post-flood apocalypse clothing to reenact your own much better version of Waterworld.
Unclog drains and gutters, it will help the water drain faster and make your home less prone to flooding.
Click this link for a full list of what you can to prepare for this weather event .
If you are in Maryland here is the link to Maryland Emergency Management Agency website .
The Weather Channel Severe Weather Alerts broke down by county/city can be found here
Join me at Baltimore Comic Con and stay safe, dry and surrounded by comic book adventure and Teddy Bears
Hermine has a lot of land and mountains to get through before it hits us in Baltimore, we will get wet, it will get windy, but I suspect we will mostly be okay. So have a great, but safe, weekend and just keep an eye on this storm… See y’all at Baltimore Comic Con!
