A wild start to 2013

Wow! Did we ever ring in the new year with some excitement! Our daughter was rushed to a major hospital 400 miles because she was in per-eclampsia and HELP Syndrome. Hmmm where have we heard this before? Oh yea, my first book! Yep, we were once again faced with the possible loss of our daughter and our 4th grand child. This time it was much worse however. She was 3 months early and the baby was only 1 lb. 10 ozs. Both were in critical with baby needing to remain in the NICU for 2 months. After 3 months, I'm happy to report both are doing well and baby is now 5 lb. 7 ozs. Thank you Jesus for answered prayer!

Faithfully waiting

Have you ever wanted something but had to just stand on faith and wait for God to show up and make it happen. It's the hardest thing I can find for me. Wanting to go to our supernatural school of transformation but d/t certain circumstances, I need a miracle to bring me the money to be able to go. God work a miracle here...

Pondering

So I was turned down for a job for the third time by the same company. Upon investigation into the situation, I found that the person hired was not trained, had no experience in my line of work, and was not certified. Her only qualification; a good friend of the person doing the hiring. So I pondered. As a Christian, would it be okay for me to write to the headquarters and let them know my concern that I wonder if their hiring practices in this location are up to the company's standards or if the managers are not looking out for the company's interest by hiring the most qualified but instead looking out for their friends and for themselves by hiring friends to surround themselves with and further their own career...

Sphere of Influence

You know when you keep praying and praying for someone who is really struggling and you know the answer is in Jesus but they just don't get it and don't want to listen to you? I was just talking about this with my soon to be sister in law last night and explaining to her that when we are too close to someone, there's a difference in being a "friend & good listener" and being in their sphere of influence. It could be that you are just too close to a situation and hold no "buy in" power to affect someone else's life. That's when you step back and ask God to put someone in their life who will be a "new" voice to them that will speak in a different way. Someone who will be in their sphere of influence. For example my nephew, sweetest kid ever! Well at least I think so. But he was struggling with some issues from his youth and auntie Laura (me) just didn't have the words that could help him. So, I prayed that God would bring someone into his life who would help him through those tough issues and ultimately to the Lord. After years of prayer, Voila! He has met an amazing young woman who has caught his eye and his heart and has him going to church and looking forward to a life together! Now that's what I call a sphere of influence!

Hotter than a pistol!

Well, more storms heading our way. It's hotter than a two dollar pistol and we have no air! Packing for a quick trip to the cities to pick up my brother and his fiance for a visit and share a little about my new book "In All Things: Expect A Miracle!", and pick his brain for some good info to use in the book.

Sneak Peek!

Just wanted to share a sneak Peek at my next book.
"Some of my earliest memories of my dad were of rejection and complete dis-interest in me and my siblings. Alcoholism was a way of life for him and a huge part of our family dynamic."

Latest Book Review!

I'm so excited for this review I just had to share. This book is a must read for all mothers. It describes so many of life's parenting issues including a difficult and strong willed child, depression, and miscarriage. If you haven’t experienced them yet, as a parent you have certainly worried that they would occur. The book is an inspiration as it expresses the feelings of loss and sorrow that come before the joy at periods of any parent’s life journey as part of an extended family.
Author Laura Smith is honest, her words are heartwarming, and her life lessons are true to her word. This is an amazing summer read that will serve to strengthen your faith as a person and as the parent you want to be and encourage those who feel like a failure as a parent, have experienced a miscarriage or loss, and who strive to understand where God is in the mix of life's hard parts. It is a true life story. You can find more on this review here: http://terri-forehand.blogspot.com/20...

Contentment

Have you ever stopped and just said "where I am at is enough. I am content in my job, with my family, where I am living..."? I heard this today on the radio and realized that I have been striving and striving to go further and higher up the ladder when truth be told, I am in the job I always dreamed of. I've written and had a book published with inspiration of more to come. So when do we reach the point in our life when it's enough? I think I've hit that point and can concentrate on living in this new found contentment. Sure, I would love to sell a million books and make a lot of money but that's not the reason I wrote it. I wrote it to help others deal with the pain of suffering miscarriage and heal from abortion. I know of at least one person who has been changed forever by the message I shared so it was all worth it. I like this new thing called contentment. I think I will rest here.
